Yeah I'd have to agree. While I don't object to having X2 on a weekend, dressing it up as an event seems a bit ott. It's not even like it's the old battlefield/halo "double xp weekend" since its +0.5% xp on the first battle weekend. It won't stop me playing (I enjoy the game, and don't really care if there are events or not), but it's probably going to annoy a lot of people. Kind of like marking an item "massive savings!" and then having it 5p cheaper. People will still buy it anyway but now be annoyed you've tried to claim it's something extra special. Personally the suggestion of certain lines cheaper is always good, have X2 xp and for one special have US BB 30% cheaper, next special a different line etc

As a secondary question, will there be more ships available for gold? It's all very good advertising a package that has 13,000 gold, but at there's not a lot to spend it on, and you can't use it in WoT. Anyone sensible will have the premium consumables for credits, so unless you have a burning need to retrain captains over and over its essentially "would you like an atago or an atlanta?"

Because by "running away" from the destroyer you're not trying to outrun him (which obviously you can't), you're buying yourself time. If you're heading towards him and he's headed towards you, the gap between you is being closed at a rate of 55kn (your 21 and his 34). This means he can close very quickly, and do a fly by and torp you with ease. If you head away from him, the rate that he catches up with you is dramatically reduced - only 13kn. (His 34 minus your 21). This means he will take a lot longer to catch you, and in addition his torps have a terrible angle (you can avoid all or almost all them). This gives you lots of time to fire your rear guns, your secondaries, and if he turns away to break off then you can easily sink him. In addition while chasing you like this he needs to go in an almost straight line which makes him easy prey for any nearby cruisers

It takes 3 minutes to cap. Where have you (and your team) gone if no one can make it back into Base in 3 minutes? Surely if the enemy has some destroyers it's obvious they'll try to cap? The only time I can see it being a problem is if there's very few ships left (in which case it's a good winning move), or your entire team has run off to the furthest edges of the map, in which case it's a fail team
-
As above, if you're on fire that adds 2km to your detection. If you'd fired guns within 20 secs that adds 4km (for destroyers). Other candidates would be; -popped smoke, cruiser taking a pop shot -friendly ship behind you, you getting hit by shots aimed at him. (Did this before, fired 18km at a BB, bemused when it told me I'd just destroyed a DD - the hackusations went through the roof)
-
The new UI includes all bonuses. So the basic range is 4km. With the module and the skill that goes up to 5.76, which is rounded to 5.8km. The guns won't fire unless they're in arc as well so sometimes you need to turn your ship a bit more
-
Turn on alt info in settings so it's permanently on. No more pressing alt!
-
Depends on your playstyle. Will probably look at reduced detection for IJN cruisers, so I can sneak up for torps. Nothing particularly catches my eye for US cruisers
-
Interesting, but I suspect false since WG have already released the list of cruisers 1-10 so the tier 1 and 2 won't be premium. Which makes it unlikely the bismark will either. I suspect the mod is marking them as premium since they're in game but not available to be purchased
-
But you can't buy the detonation flag. The only flags you can buy are +50% xp +20% credits -5% repair. None of those have in match benefits, and therefore don't affect your ability to win, and therefore aren't p2w Now if the OTHERS become available again then those could be considered p2w since they give in match advantages, but since the statement I was commenting on was "yes they're in shop and it sucks" I stand by my original comment that the flags currently available in shop at are not p2w

I was commenting on: Which implies the flags currently available are p2w

Yeah I'll be honest I wouldn't bother with doing that much retraining either. Around 10 skill points it's worth doing. At 19 points that captain can stay where he is -
The ones in there are hardly p2w. The only package available gives extra xp, extra money, and slightly reduced repair bill (I. E. Slightly more money). This is similar to a premium account. None of the flags available affect game play in any way so they're not pay to win. At worst they're pay-to-grind-a-bit-faster, but since getting the next tier just means you'll be matched against higher tier opponents anyway it's frequently not an advantage

Only have limited gaming time, and a mate who likes to play. Therefore in order to play ranked games I have to deliberately not play with him. I therefore don't play ranked battles as I'd rather play the few games I can squeeze in with a mate

Bought the physical magazine because I fancied having something to read on my lunch break. Review was painful for anyone who's played the game - reviewer was given a tier X carrier, declares that a battleship supported by cruisers was a great target for aircraft as "battleship was shielding 2 cruisers", amused that he declares aircraft carriers "are the biggest cowards" before going on to declare the maps are too small because 50km x 50km is too small as "the ship has a 22km turning circle". He does also complain that he got sunk again and again, so those that were complaining about press accounts ruining their games, now you know who you were probably sinking ;)
-
Well realistically do you NEED 19 skill point captains at tier 1? Most other people there will be newbies so it's not really a disadvantage. The fact you know how to lead a target means you already have plenty of advantage. The first tier you really need skills at are tier 5 (where more experienced players will be grinding for credits), and you can get a 10pt captain at tier 5 simply by playing from tier 1 and moving him up. I can only see it being an issue if you plan on skipping tiers 1-5 with free xp.
-
Question for that then: does the fire destroy the turret straight away, or only after it has burned through enough HP? Usually I'll let one fire burn and use the repair party to regain the HP lost, but is there the potential of a fire destroying a turret if it's left to burn for long enough?

take captain from gremmy. Put in Russian ship. Click retrain. Put back in gremmy. Do retraining. Put back in Russian ship again. Gremmy captain is now ready to be used on Russian ship. Now arguably if your gremmy captain has a lot of skills it might not be worth doing this until tier 4/5 because tiers 1-3 take such a short time to progress through -

Desktop and I'm well aware the graphics card is in dire need of an upgrade. Unfortunately, since I have a nearly 2yr old minion and another one brewing then I can't really justify buying a graphics card instead of a new cot. Boo RL sucks! I'd considered getting a mid ranged card for around £100 but was generally of the opinion that if I'm going to buy one I'll pay a bit more and get a better one. -

That then comes down to how much do I NEED the skills, vs how much would I just find them useful. Agreed that at top end it is a lot of games, that then becomes how well do you do in the premium ship, and how much do you enjoy playing it. If you can average 2k in the atago and enjoy playing it then doing 50 games in that to get 100k doesn't sound too bad. If you're trying to retrain your US DD captain using the arkansas beta and you hate using BB then that will seem like a very long grind. -

OK step by step: Sell first ship (e.g. cleveland) Choose send captain to reserves. Purchase next ship (e.g. pensacola) Choose to purchase without captain. On pensacola, assign captain from reserves. Click retrain on captain. Choose either free or 200k silver. Go to premium ship (that has no captain in it) Click assign captain. Choose "from another ship" Choose pensacola captain. Pensacola captain is now in premium ship. Play premium ship for however many games is needed to complete retraining. Go to pensacola. Click assign captain. Choose "from another ship" Choose captain that is currently in premium ship. Captain is now retrained and back in the pensacola. I'm aware that might make it sound complicated, but it's fairly easy once you've done it once. -

Yes to all the above, it's the best way of retraining. It can be in any premium ship as long as it's the correct nation. My IJN DD captain gets retrained each time using the yubari. I retrain mine so my tier 5+ captains have multiple skills -

I've had this with both friendly and enemy ships, and not always at the start of the match so it's not load up. If it was load up then I shouldnt be able to make it appear and dissapear at will by pressing shift. I'm aware the pic shown is a friendly destroyer, and thus spotting rules don't apply, that just happened to be a convenient screen grab Yeah the FPS has always been bad with WG games, pc has a junky graphics card so although I can play something like battlefield 4 on medium with 50 FPS, I get 20-30 with wot/wows. -

Found the screenies I was looking for. these particular ones involve a friendly DD, but had it happen with enemy ones destroyer at 4.7km, can see health, name and distance, but no destroyer showing. same at 4.9km Swap to binoc view and there he is. -
I must admit I thought it was fairly obvious - it's right below the option to send your captain to reserves or dismiss him. That said, since I used to play WoT I was expecting to find such an option. Perhaps they could do it like online forms where you have to select an option from a drop down menu, and if you haven't selected anything it flashes red and doesn't let you proceed
