    AA still not good enough.

The question then really is what % of CV players are "skilled enough" to not be affected by AA? Because if its only 1% then that means its working 99% of the time. If 50% of CV players are good enough then it only works half the time. It's a matter of opinion if it needs to be 100%, or if 99% "will do". I don't know if there's a way of judging how many are "good enough" - I know personally AA doesn't really bother me in a CV, but equally most CV seem to be terrible (personal observation)

    CV Rework Discussion

It will be a minor buff to DD - not kept fighter spotted, and not picked up accidentally by a fly over of Torps/AP bombs. Won't help if the CV is actively trying to kill them (which is likely), but does at least mean the CV has to focus them rather than just getting them killed as a side note.

    Consecutive losses

CV are very influential - they do ALOT of things that affect the outcome; scouting, killing DD, restting caps, main damage dealers, as well as hunting and killing ships with low health that have tried to flee. As such, as a CV player you need to be doing all these things. The enemy team has a CV so if it's doing all these things and you're not, then your team is going to struggle heavily to win. From looking at it, you appear to be trying to learn the rework CV by starting with the tier 8 lexington (as you had it unlocked before the rework). I'd recommend learning them either in coop to get the basics, or by starting with the tier 4 CV.

    SUBMARINES - discussion, feedback, opinions

The easiest way to explain this is to break it down by depth: Surface: The sub here is an incredibly easy kill. Very low health, no armour, no guns, no torps, no AA. Its not even fast, being slower than virtually everything including BB. It has a 5km detection. Due to air reserves, it WILL be forced to surface, and due to low speed its not like it can run away first and surface safely. Anything that wants to run a sub down can. Periscope: The depth a sub is dangerous - can fire torps. Speed here is virtually nothing (3.6kn). Pinging targets (to get homing torps) puts the sub on the minimap. This attracts CV (who can dev strike a sub), and literally blind fire from BB/CA can have great results. Sub can be spotted by planes, hydro, and ironically other subs (periscope depth subs cant see deep subs). Takes splash damage, so shells dont even need to hit the sub to do damage to it. Being at periscope burns air meter. Deep: Avoids shells/bombs. Can't see unless within 2km. Can't launch torps. Can move, but slower than on surface. Burns air meter. Can be attacked by depth charges from DD. While DD can hunt them at any depth, the BB/CA can just run them down and wait for them to periscope/surface at which point they are an easy kill.

    SUBMARINES - discussion, feedback, opinions

Its pretty hard to tell, because so much of the test server doesn't work the same way as live. For example, DD can't really get subs early unless the subs are alone. In order to get close enough to use depth charges, the DD is going to be proxy spotted (2km), so its not like it can smoke above it either. On the other hand, if the flank the sub is on collapses then the DD has free reign to run the sub down. On the test server the subs go to caps, because thats where the bot BB go. On live, will they go to spot the DD, or will they go off BB hunting? CV are great against a sub thats not paying attention. Against a switched on sub, CV dont do as well - you see the planes early and dive BB on the TST server are actually pretty potent against subs. A good volley when someone spots them, or blind firing when they ping does loads of damage - its easily possible for a BB to dev strike a sub. However they need to have HE loaded - on the TST you can just leave HE loaded. On the live you're more likely to have AP loaded. Cruisers can easily spam shells at ping locations for blind fire, and we're yet to see radar vs subs (I believe from notes that radar is only against surfaced subs, but we'll see). RN cruisers though can't do much against a sub due to only having AP, so I guess they might give them depth charges too? From playing them/against them, subs were Ok, but in almost all instances I'd rather be in a DD instead. From playing against them, they were mildly annoying, but in almost all instances DD were a bigger threat.

IJN aren't too bad - 6x 3300. Much better than the pan asian 6x 1700, and probably better than the german 8 x 1600. Atm not sure which is better - more depth charges, or stronger depth charges. Either way, the UK DD seem to be the best choice

Yeah, and then the russian having 10 (albeit low damage)

    since I don't think anyone has posted it, this is the different depth charges for the different nations;

Interesting point with the depth charges - different nations get different numbers of depth charges, with different damage.

    CV Rework Discussion

Eh, doing 72% of his total HP by double clicking doesn't seem too bad. Since subs take splash damage, you dont even need to hit, just vaguely near. The pic above was a single volley. If they don't ping you, you're facing 4 torps that do 61kn. With a 2 min reload. At 8km thats very easy to avoid unless you're a complete potato. At point blank its harder to dodge, but BB move faster than subs so unless he's never using pings you have an idea where he is and control the engagement range. Obvious problem with the TST is you dont know how good the enemy sub actually is - I might be facing some serious potatoes for all I know.

    CV Rework Discussion

    A little off topic, but in a BB you can actually blind fire subs - theres a marker that shows where your guns are aimed on the minimap, and when they ping you, their position appears on the minimap. Simply put your gun marker on their marker and click. Results may vary, but here's an example;

Any non super unicum in Co-Op?

Its pretty much impossible - the bots are incredibly bad. The DD sail in straight lines firing their guns. The BB sail into torps. The cruisers sail in a straight line, then present broadside at 5km. The CV flies rockets to a DD then just flies around in circles instead of attacking, or flies AP bombers into flak, and spends the rest of the game sending out 1 bomber. If literally anyone on your team is actually "playing" you win. I've fought multiple bots at once simply using secondaries and not bothering with main guns, and I've still got 100% in coop

    SUBMARINES - discussion, feedback, opinions

Its slightly more involved than that - the "automatic" one kept firing charges until the sub was dead. With the manual G version, it only fires 6 depth charges, and you can only store 3 uses - after that its on a cooldown timer. Which means you need to be pretty accurate with your positioning otherwise you'll waste them - you cant just sail around the vague area pressing G. Further, the sub has the deep dive consumable, which allows it to get to a deeper depth, mitigating some of the damage. The interaction is now slightly more mind games, because if a DD uses all his charges in the wrong place, he's at risk of being kept perma spotted by a now safe sub

How the hell this guy got away with this?

-It's reasonably easy for any one with photoshop to change a screenshot so it looks like they're saying something in chat that they haven't, thus creating a false claim. Dont like someone who killed you? Photoshop it so it looks like they're saying a bunch of racist stuff and get the forums clamouring for a ban. -It would mostly be used for "look how rubbish this guy is". Unless you're the best unicum, everyone is rubbish in someone else's view. -You only ever get 1 side of it. So what from one side is "ultra toxic guy shoots ME to try to steal kill!" Might well from the other side be "full health BB about to be rammed by 100hp BB, shot and killed 100hp BB so we didnt lose ours, but 1 shell hits our BB" -As boring as it is, most pinkies are from dumb/unlucky/brainfart momemts rather than malice. From what I can tell, its less to protect the actual knobbers, and more to prevent the mass spam of "here's someone I dont like, everyone go hassle him"

Nope. Just had a "friendly" AI DD decide to get 1km behind me and then second line torp me

    SUBMARINES - discussion, feedback, opinions

So intitial thoughts, and unlisted changes, plus some bugs/features; -Subs now only dive to 40m instead of 50m unless they deep dive -DD get their hydrophone as the RPF indicator -Subs get a notification they're hydrophoned (like the RPF warning) -They are virtually stationary at periscope; 3.6kn speed. -The deep dive consumable merely ALLOWS you to dive to 60m. It doesnt crash dive you. Which means you can press it on the surface and have nothing happen. -Double locked torps now do about half damage - 2 citadels is now ~18k instead of 34k -Depth charges feel more involved. -You get 3 charges of charges. Each charge of charges gives 6 charges. To translate that into english: you can store up 3 uses of depth charges. Each time you press G it drops 6 depth charges. It takes 60 sec to reload all 3 uses, at a rate of 1 every 20s. -You need more depth charges to kill a sub; its not the sure thing it was before (althoug subs are very dead if left near a competent DD) -You can hit subs at periscope without needing BB shells (even DD shells will do)

??? They made it so they actually home more on the second ping, they just gave them a straight run at the end so they can be potentially dodged.
  19. Xevious_Red

    SUBMARINES - discussion, feedback, opinions

This isn't true from what I could tell from testing. The first ping makes them semi-home. The second ping makes them go deep (ignores torp belt, capable of citadels) The second ping doesn't make them home better, nor do they seek citadels - its only if they hit where the citadel is.

    CV Rework Discussion

Indeed. Unless they found another potato, in which case they both sat around autodropping. Those clown fiestas of two terribad CV were actually fairly common (personal perception). At tier 4/5 autodrop was the only thing available anyway.

    CV Rework Discussion

*Technically* they are also harder to play. Although it was a terrible idea, the RTS carriers could be played with autodrop - just left clicking on the ship you wanted to attack. Obviously vastly inferior to "playing properly", it was available, and meant even really bad players achieved something. With the new model there is no autodrop, so there's no crutch for these truely terrible players, hence why you can now find people with all new lows, like 2k average damage in a tier 4

Ark Royal or Kaga for a CV noob?

-Subs at surface/periscope have an air detection of 2.7km. This is roughly the same as a kagero with its AA off. -Rockets can hit subs at periscope depth. -Subs at periscope depth only move 8kn, which makes them virtually stationary. -Subs wanting to use homing torps, use an active ping. This ping reveals them on the minimap. Subs CAN crash dive to take themselves deeper and thus undetectable/unstrikable, but they need to have O2 available and cruically they need to be aware they're being attacked. A dumb sub is a very easy CV kill. A smart sub can dive to avoid planes, but at that point it cant spot/attack, so the planes have forced it into being in a useless position. The sub will be forced to surface at some point due to air supply, so the CV can wait it out, leave fighters, or just periodically come back to check if its surfaced yet

Ark Royal or Kaga for a CV noob?

Also can you imagine these in random battles? -Sees BB pushing in. You put his fires out. He yolos into torps anyway. -See a cruiser advancing on a cap. You lay him a smoke screen for him to use. He sails straight through it.

    SUBMARINES - discussion, feedback, opinions

If both sides have reasonable support (i.e. the sub is surrounded by teammates) then DD just ignore the subs. The torps arent really a threat to them, and chasing deep into enemy lines will get the DD killed. If the sub doesn't really have support (has tried doing some flanking etc), then the DD pretty much auto kills it - sail to marker. Sail to next marker. Charges start being fired. Kill ribbon appears.

Didnt really try bombs - rockets are my preffered anti DD so I was using them. AP probably wont work as you need splash damage, but HE probably will
