Causing Damage but no Credit for Sinking.

I do like seeing that kill marker come up, but having a shared kill might cause a bunch of complications: -If I do 90% and you do 10%, and we both get credited with a kill the score board says 2, but only one ship has been sunk. - What if I do 80%? Or 70%? Where's the cut off? The majority is anything over 51% -What if 4 people each do 25%? -What about if I do 60% damage to a BB, putting him on 40% remaining, he heals up to having 70% left, and someone else then kills him from there?

Causing Damage but no Credit for Sinking.

You get more XP for damage than you do for kills, so you get rewarded more in XP (and therefore credits). If you care about stats, your average damage will be good too (which most people look at if making comparisons)

    Average winrate

Equally, look at how many times YOU cause a loss. Leaving a Base when it's 99% captured and going on to lose is your fault not the team's. Similarly, sailing away from your own Base when it's being capped and you're the only one close enough just so you can get a few shots on an AFK ship doesn't make you a better player just because you did a bit more damage. I'm always amazed when it's a domination game, we're winning 970-900 and all we need to do to win is literally nothing, the odds are a friendly cruiser on 100hp will decide to sail into detection range of a full health BB and sit there showing full broadside

This damage screen makes no sense ....

What was the thing about once an area (e.g. front) had taken so much damage it was "destroyed" and no longer took damage. Just wondering If the shells against the new York were 4 bounces and one pen on a destroyed section

    Missing Testdrive XP

They should have been added. My German tier 1 had 6k xp on it when I got it (meaning I skipped it immediately)

    XP RANT !

As above, what tier you inflict that damage on affects your xp. Hitting stuff higher than you nets you extra, getting low tier stuff a lot less. The xp is also rewarded based on damage, and % of total health done. So doing 2k damage to a destroyer (roughly 20% of its total health) will give you more than doing 2k to a battleship (only about 5% of its health)

First Impression of the new lines

Skipped tier 1 as I had 6k on it from the sea trials. Dresden at tier 2 is odd, it rains shots that do very little, but it does a lot of them. Mine survived quite well but that's partly since the enemy dresden do very little too. The arc is hilarious they go up like fireworks. Kolberg is just the same ship. I actually had quite a nice game where I got 40k damage with it netting me a confederate medal. However out of the 115 pen's I did with AP, no citadels at all (none with the dresden either). Tier 3 games lasted a long time since with all the Kolbergs no one does any damage to anyone. If I was being evil I would have taken out the tenryu or the south carolina and had a slaughter. Luckily for me there weren't any good st Louis/tenryu/south carolina captains in my games. Kahlruhe: This is the phoenix, if the phoenix didn't have all the things that made it good. The guns are still like mortars, albeit not quite as bad, but they don't have a decent range, you can't spam HE with them (as per kuma), nor can you punch citadels (as per phoenix). You don't have the speed or agility to dart in and out like the phoenix, nor to dodge shots well, and you can't make a daring torp run. Instead you can be really sluggish, watch your AP not citadel things and watch the HE do not a lot either. Amusing note: I encountered a chikuma that had ended up in a tier 5 game (fail platoon). The chikuma gave me a run for my money. I keep thinking "it's stock", before realising that it's not, and this is the best it'll be. For those that care about such things: Average damages for cruisers (mine): Tier 2; Chikuma 16k Chester 17k Dresden 10k Tier 3: Tenryu: 43k St louis: 32k Kolberg: 17k Tier 4: Kuma: 43k Phoenix: 48k Kahlruhe: 19k

    The Fujin

It appears to have been removed. It was basically a minekaze, with an orange/red/black "scary" camo (looked sort of like teeth at the front), with 3 days premium and some flags for £20, or the same bundle with even more flags for £24
  9. Xevious_Red

    The Fujin

Is this the kamikaze renamed? I.e. the one that was a slightly worse minekaze. Additionally, what's the point of a custom skin DD when everyone will just slap the reduced visibility camouflage on it anyway?

    Konigsberg impressions

Interesting you say about the AP - I had virtually no citadels with it, against ideal targets (e.g. furutaka, unangled, straight line sailing), to the point I had to swap back to HE just to do more damage. I even had the AP bounce off an unangled bogue.

Finally an event worthy of WoWS

I think it's fairly interesting. It doesn't "reward" you with anything (some captains for free), but it let's you play with them a week early. Side bonus is that if you hate the playstyle of one of them at least you won't have ground your way from tier 1-5 to find this out. The requirements aren't too hard for lots of people, without it being everyone in one.

    High tier ships repair price

The core of their business is based around grinding, or paying to skip grind. If you want to play for free you totally can, but you'll need to play games at tier 4/5/6 to make the credits needed for your high tier ships. This way you keep the mid tiers populated. If you don't want to play games around tier 5 in addition to higher ones (I. E. You only want to play tier 8+) then you'll need a premium ship or premium account (or just be very good!) Since I like tiers 5/6 it's not a hardship for me, I like taking the Kongo etc out for a spin

    Battleships only game?

Personally I think it would be rather dull. If you'd like to experience how dull, play tier 1 (only 2 ships, no torps, no planes, nothing that can fire from invisible), but now imagine you can only fire every 30 seconds, the engagement is at 20km, and your shots are less likely to hit. Battleship vs battleship at close range IS fun and exciting. However, first battleship to try getting closer just will get focused, so it's likely to be a long range RNG fest.
  14. Xevious_Red

Why are higher level ships worse to play as?

Regarding the battleships, the general view is the tier 3 and 4 are a bit rubbish. Glad you enjoyed the kawachi, lots of people don't. Suprised about the Japanese destroyers, they play pretty similarly IMO until after tier 5. The isokaze is generally regarded as quite a good ship. The fututaka is an odd one, lots of people regard it as bad, because it plays vastly differently from the tenryu and the kuma, and because it's competition at tier 5 is very good. I personally like the furutaka, did better with it than the kuma, but the play style is totally different
  15. even better if it's a landlocked country. Look forward to seeing the entirely made up Mongolian navy

    warspite back on sale

It is however rather fun. It's my battleship of choice if I needed to fight off a load of destroyers due to turning circle, number of secondaries, their range, and the fact they're all HE. Feels good chasing down a DD with guns blazing, avoiding all their spreads.

    Does camo really help?

except the hashidate, where the accuracy cam makes it look like a banana boat from donkey kong
  18. Xevious_Red

    Does camo really help?

Depends what ship you have, and what the enemy are. For example, on a minekaze, the lower detection camo reduces your detection from 6.2km to 6km. Since your torps are 7km this means you have a 1km window to torp from stealth instead of 0.8km. It also means you spot enemy minekaze who don't have camo before they spot you. So IMO that's well worth having. The reduced accuracy camo depends on who the enemy is: if they have a 100m dispersion this is only reduced to 104m. So it will proably still hit you. If however they have a 250m dispersion it goes up to 260m. It won't do a lot against cruisers, and will do nothing against torps, but against battleships who will be firing at your waterline it might be enough to make the shot hit the water instead.

Ok, where did this shell land?

Been detonated before in a Kongo by a single HE shell from an omaha. We were both WTF.

    warspite back on sale

I had one in CBT and liked it enough to get it again in OBT. Didn't do that for the Atlanta or the Atago. The package's price is a bit crap, depends how much you want gold and premium time (I. E. If you were going to get those anyway it's OK, if you didn't want those it's rather expensive). As I said, I enjoy mine greatly, but I'm aware I don't do as much damage in it as I do in other battleships of similar tier. That may in part be because I find it funny to hunt destroyers in it because of the brutal secondaries and crazily tight turning circle (best was managing 3 destroyer kills with secondaries in one game)

    warspite back on sale

I enjoy the warspite, love the secondary weapons. However the short-ish range + low speed + lower number of guns means it's always bottom for me in terms of damage when compared to other tier 6 BB. In CBT I consistently did higher in the new mex and the Fuso. In the OBT/release I average 52k. With the fuso I average 79k and although I haven't got the new mex back yet, I'm averaging 66k on the new York so I suspect the new mex will again be better scoring. The premium repair is nice on it - 60 seconds, so you can happily put out fire repeatedly. IMO weakest of the tier 6 BB, but still tons of fun to play. Depends what's most important to you

    Premium shop specials

They'd do even better if they had a range: so the barebones ship for a basic price, then bundles that are actual savings. Like a tirpitz and a warspite bundle that saves you money if you get them together. That way people spend more because they think "if I just spend X more I get all this other stuff...." Forcing people to have a bundle or nothing might sell some but will piss lots of people off. Especially if for example they already have premium and gold, since there's very little good stuff to spend the gold on atm

"I play for fun", they said.

Thing is, I understand the "playing for fun" derping. What I don't understand is then coming to complain about balance/OP. Why do you care about balance - you're playing for fun! Example: my wife likes warcraft. Thus I play warcraft with her because it's something nice to do together of an evening. I don't really care much about warcraft and thus I "play for fun". If I was playing "properly" I should be looking to maximise my DPS, master my cooldown rotation and pick suitable equipment. However I don't care about any of that since I'm playing for fun and therefore picked a nice hat, and will click attack on stuff. Along the same lines, apparantly I should be annoyed because the race I've chosen is sub-obtimal and other races get better bonuses that results in a faster gold grind and have more use able bonuses. But I don't care about that either, since I'm a werewolf in a nice hat. If you're "playing for fun" why do you care if you win or lose? Why do you care if you kill someone or if you sink, what does it matter if your team all go do something silly, it's not like you care about the result. However lots of the "p4f" crowd clearly DO care about winning, and other people sinking them, so I suspect a lot of the claims about play 4 fun are actually the same as claiming "yeah, well I wasn't trying anyway"

    Event Calendar

Well if they don't want to give away ships or discount gold items (slots etc), then there's plenty more stuff they can do. Of the top of my head: -X2 xp -X2 credits -Ships/modules cheaper -Double xp on captains (ship earns normal xp, captain skills up faster) - discount on certain ships e.g. carriers/ijn/tier 5's -earn an extra 20k credits for sinking a US ship in an IJN and vice versa -remove the limit of "once per 24 hours" for flag acquisition -no repair bills. There's plenty more that wouldn't affect their actual money income

    torp`s

Hold ALT for a manual drop. You can place that where you like (including so close that the torps don't have time to arm)
