New Event - Arpeggio of Blue Steel -ARS NOVA- invading World of Warships!
Xevious_Red replied to Kurbain's topic in General Discussion
Way I see it: Didn't take up any time from main developers/balance since its just some skins/character portraits/voices Skins probably took about 5 mins since they're black with glowy bits Character portraits would be provided to WG Voices would be provided to WG. So virtually no effort required from WG. Can be turned off (and likely is by default), meaning if you don't want it you'll never see it and it'll never affect your game beyond the chat might have slightly more comments about fog and or Kongo. In return it's content (of a sort) for those that want it, it's free advertising, you might get new players because of it, and there will be players that return because if this. I can think of one friend who will absolutely love this. Don't see what the problem is -
Will probably be a reskinned dresden with premium status. They seem to have a fondness for ships that are the same as normal (arkansas is stock Wyoming, fujin is minekaze, Minehead is omaha etc)

Even if black Friday isn't a European holiday, at least here in the UK just about every company that I've purchased something from were sending me emails clamouring to inform me I could save big money etc

Can anyone explain to me how the EXP system works?

Additionally damaging ships higher tier than you will net you more xp than damaging ones lower than yourself. As said, capping etc are all worth XP, and victory gives a multiplier. There's also a multiplier for the first victory of the day in each ship -
A store without bundles everywhere? Just Boycot. There is no other way.

I find with gold I'm pretty stingy when it comes to buying consumable things, it feels like a waste. So I'll never buy premium consumables with gold etc. However, permanent things I'm more likely to. What there should be is so much cool stuff to buy (not p2w, just cool) that people WANT to be buying lots of stuff. -the "normal" premium ships are a given. Tirpitz, warspite etc should all be available for gold. -there should be an option for permanent camo for gold. -there should be an option for different camo for gold - same effect, but different colours. This way people can pay 12k credits per game for the common colour scheme that everyone has, or pay X gold to have something funky. Won't break the game, will give more variety. -Inscriptions from WoT. Wouldn't use it myself but lots of people in tanks seemed to like having a logo/word written on their vehicle. -permanent flags. Again nothing P2W but something permanent that always gives that ship +X% xp, or cheaper repairs etc- 320 replies

The other problem is that you turn away even the people that do buy a reasonable amount simply because they can't use half of the bundle. Because in CBT you could only get ships by buying gold, and because the preorder ships had gold bundled with them, I now have ~13k gold. I have nothing to spend it on unless I want an Atlanta (I dont), an atago (not overly), or an aurora (nope). Since there's nothing to spend the gold I already have on, I'm not going to buy anything that has gold attached to it until I have some way of spending it. If they made the premium ships available for gold I'd probably get through that gold quickly and end up getting more. As it stands I'm not buying anything- 320 replies

Personally imo it should be: Dailys: take about 1-5 games to complete. Rewards nothing special as no real effort needed. Some free xp, 5 flags, some credits etc. Missions: take about 10-20 games to complete. Completeable by everyone. Better rewards;decent amount of credits, equipment, decent amount of flags, low value gold stuff (port slot, barracks slots) Challenges: something reasonably hard, won't be achieved by everyone. Importantly it shouldn't be detrimental to game play (no kill 5 carriers by ramming them or anything stupid like that) can either be grindy so can be completed by no lifers, or require skill (win game and be top by xp a certain number of times etc). Rewards should either be good (gold, premium ships, captain with 10 skill points), or unique
-
Doesn't seem terrible - the rewards aren't exactly ground breaking, but conversely the requirements aren't that hard either. It's basically play some games in a carrier, do nothing different to what you'd do anyway, get minor reward. Not one that you'd rush home to complete, but it's not like it'll be tricky to complete either. Personally I'm alright with the missions not being too challenging. The WoT missions had better rewards (reward tank), and more challenging conditions. End result was games were atrocious as arty tried shooting the fastest moving scout as that's what their mission was, heavies tried capping constantly, mediums tried not to kill anyone so they could have another go at setting them on fire etc etc

Check out the current NA contest (free Mikasa for everyone on NA)
Xevious_Red replied to ShockPirat's topic in General Discussion
What's funnier (or sadder depending how you see it), is if you go read the NA forums for a while THEY think they get treated the worst of all the regions -
GD is usually my one stop to see what's being discussed when I'm browsing the forums. For me it's like the heart of the forums - off topic is fine for people that want to chat about films or anime or whatever. The individual sections are fine if you want a discussion about a specific thing, but general discussion is almost like the hang out to chat about generic Wows stuff

Free bonus code for 1 day of premium, and "5 pieces of each flag" (for everyone)
Xevious_Red replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
Good spot. +1 -
Reasons for 1.5x XP: You have a premium account. This gives 1.5x XP. Since there's a code floating around on page 1 of these forums that gives some flags and a days worth of premium then this would be the case if you've activated that. Similarly one of the "rewards" when you reach a certain rank includes a days worth of premium. Check in top left of port to see if it says standard account or premium. The first victory of the day for each ship gives 1.5x XP You can equip a flag (assuming you have reached this rank, and earnt some) that gives 1.5x XP

Tactical Map, Auto, Icons, Firing, Tracking, Moving
Xevious_Red replied to JDredbull's topic in General Discussion
If it's anything like ctrl + lmb in "normal" view then it will set the target as priority for secondary guns, so they'll shoot at that target instead of others. Same for aircraft with your AA -
Knowing how much you can heal would be useful - I forget mid battle how much I've lost to light damage, so frequently I'll see myself on 1/3rd health, be fully aware that it will only really heal light damage, but have no idea how much I'm actually going to get back. Regarding the land objectives, I think it could be interesting - what if the game mode was capture bases (as it is now), but the bases were defended by land based AI stuff? E.g. some guns, and the air bases launched fighters that just patrolled the Base. You'd win the game in the usual fashion (sail around in the capture point for a bit until it's captured), but if the defenses hadn't been destroyed they'd make capturing it much harder

you can see CBT stats too. So anyone who is a "player" or "beta tester" you can see exactly how many games they've played etc. Only people you can't see fully are Alpha testers, and super testers
-
Because most people will only want to play on the map that benefits them, against the class they find easiest to kill? For example I'd guess that a large amount of BB players would choose to play without carriers or destroyers as those pose them the most threat. This could lead to some very long waiting times as the match maker would be unable to make any games. Look at the queue when you next load a game: there's usually about 50 people in your range, so it can make a 12 vs 12 game. Now imagine if each of those players had specified specific requirements: you want a game that's BB only on ocean. Someone else wants destroyers only on new dawn. Someone else wants only carriers and battleships. End result is no one gets a game
-
He's driving a tier X ship. He's obviously always going to be in tier X games. A more fitting evidence would be a tier 8 ship that wins a lot always being put in tier X games. Since the high tiers are pretty sparse then a better test would be using a tier 5 ship - get a bunch of wins in a row then see if you always get put in tier 7 games, and not just put in them ~1/3
-
Total damage was 44k (as can be seen by top game in hatsu). 2153xp isn't unreasonable for that level of damage.
-
Being on fire adds 2km to your detection. Shooting your guns adds 4km for destroyers (6 I believe for Russian ones) to your detection, and crucially this remains for a while AFTER you've fired. So firing while behind an island, then sailing out will get you spotted. Either of those apply?

Answered all 4. Preference is for BB, CA and DD as I find carriers slightly dull, but I do have 2 carriers in port, and occasionally take them out for a game

i don't wanna play a bad ship in order unlocking better one
Xevious_Red replied to one5hotcd's topic in General Discussion
Played it in CBT when I wasn't that experienced and didn't get that great a damage from it (but did equally badly in kuma, phoenix, omaha etc). Played it again in OBT, now more experienced got a much better output from it (now higher than kuma, phoenix, omaha etc), was averaging 50k damage pre-buff. They buffed it mid way through my grind, so I finished it off post buff, finishing it off with 54k average -

See I got the furu with trepidation since everyone was saying how rubbish it was, but found that not only did I like it, but that I did well in it. What I will say is the furutaka is very unforgiving, where it's predecessor was more forgiving. It has some very powerful tools at its disposal: the torps are actually long ranged and powerful which catches battleships out. The 203's with AP absolutely wreck cruisers and can punch through Kongos. With HE they make a mess of DD. On top of this it has more health than other cruisers so it can take a punch. However it's the unforgiving bits that make people dislike it: The low RoF means you need to hit first time, and in the right place. With the kuma you could spam HE and it doesn't matter where you hit or even if you hit at all since the reload is good, and HE just needs to hit somewhere. With the Furutaka you need to hit citadels which means leading correctly first time. The turrets are slow, almost battleship slow. You need them to be facing the correct direction when you need them. This means you need to plan your attack, no sailing around like a headless chicken. Your ship is 90% citadel. If your side is exposed you will die. You need to time exposing your side for in between enemy shots. Do it properly and you can tank quite a lot of damage, do it wrong and you'll sink faster than concrete blocks. In my opinion the Furutaka is not a bad ship. In fact I'd go as far as to say it's actually a good ship. However it's brutally unforgiving, and THAT Imo is why so many hate it. -
Konigsberg isn't too bad because if you want to you can force the engagement to be at 16km which gives you opportunity to turn. Karlsruhe doesn't have this. Interestingly just had a game with 3 of them in it (1 on ours, 2 on theirs). There were 3 detonations that game. All karlsruhe's. Next game there's 1 karlsruhe, only one detonation that game - want to guess who detonated?

Not true. Example: Players A, B, C, D. Game is 2 v 2 Game 1: A + B vs C + D. AB win Game 2: A + C vs B + D AC win Game 3: A + D vs B + C AD win End results: A won all 3 giving him 100% B, C, D won 1 each, giving them 33% You have 1 player over 50% and 3 players under.
