  1. in the CBT and now in the OBT I mainly played the IJN DD line. I like the playstyle that these ships need. They are fast, you need to be sneaky because they have horrible guns and because they have Torpedoes that allow oyu to stay outside of your detection range. At first I'd like to suggest one very easy to fix annoyance and that is that Cruiser and BB launched Fighter aircraft dont get a range indicator when you press down alt, unlike CV launched aircraft which do get a range indicator. So please let me see the ranges from the other aircraft aswell. On to the main point. I think many people will agree that the Minekaze is currently one of the best DDs in the game. And I would like to use it as a comparison point for the later IJN DDs like the Mutsuki or the Hatsuharu. The Minekaze in its current form offers the choice between two types of Torpedoes one with 7km range and one with 10km range, the 10km range Torpedo is significantly slower. http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Torpedoes_%28WoWS%29 here is a list with all torpedoes and their relevant stats. another important factor are the surface detection ranges for the DD itself. For the IJN DD line it averages around 6.2km. The Minekaze reloads its 3x2 torpedo tubes in ~30 seconds. So why are the DDs after the Minekaze so much worse than their tier 5 predecessor? There are a couple reasons for this. 1. Torpedo ranges significantly longer than your surface detection range are not very useful as they come with significant drawbacks in speed and reaction times. 2. Torpedo tube reload times increase significantly with more tubes per launcher. For example the Mutsuki with 2x3 torpedo launchers has a reload time of over one minute compared to the Minekazes 3x2 launcher reloading in ~30 seconds. This problem only gets worse with even more tubes per launcher. 3. Turret traverse times are quite frankly attrocious across the board for IJN DDs but these get adjusted a bit at least in the next patch. But couple this with the increasing torpedo reload times and you are a sitting duck if you ever get spotted and dont have torps or smoke ready. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So how can we fix these problems? 1. - reduce torpedo ranges. capable DD captains wont need torp ranges over 8-10km to hit their targets while they will still be outside spotting range. 2. - decrease reaction times on the torpedoes. The historic IJN type 93 oxygen fueled torpedo was pretty much undetectable from the surface but in the game it has the highest surface detection range? Doesnt make any sense. In general reaction times are way too high now especially with the rudder shift time changes and the amount of cruisers and BBs that can launch the fighter aircraft. 3. reload times on the torp launchers need to be reduced. It makes no sense that the reload times exponentially increase coupled with the slow gun rotation speeds this leads to a very passive playstyle where most of the time you as a captain cant do anything. thanks for reading my ramblings up to this point ;) TL;DR : force DDs to get closer to enemies by reducing torp ranges closer to surface detection range while reducing torpedo surface detection and reload times. This will punish unobservant DD captains and reward good sailing and map awareness.

Problems with IJN DDs and possible fixes

which is perfectly fine with me. I always prefered the 7km range torps because they are faster.
