Yes, I love my Bogatyr. The only T3 silver ship left in my harbour. Godlike with a 14pt captain But as was already said before, from T5 on probably the best long-range snipers in game. If you get to love the Russian cruisers you learn to accept the probability to explode sudden!y I almost have them all in harbour and play them most: Bogatyr, Kirov, Budjonny (best T6 cruiser IMO), Schors, Chapy and Dimi Premiums Molotov, Makarov and Kronshtadt Yes, I do love my Stalinium guns Molotov my favorite: once you are a low tier T6 cruiser and citadel a T8 cruiser over 15km with AP, you get a grin in your face that never leaves you
-
My daughter loves them ... just reached Schors at T7. Lower Tiers are a bit clumsy, but they all have excellent Guns. T3 and T4 have a lot of Guns, pure fun. Form T5 on till the end of the line russian Guns are just the Best. Flat arcs, high velocity makes hitting things easy even at long range. Form T5 on the ships are fast in a straight line but dont turn well . Amor is more meh than good and torps are a mere sidekick. Pure longerange snipers and supporters. Light fires, dont get Hit. Ist all about the Guns with the russians. And that awesome "historic" superradar at high tiers.

Danae is a good ship for its tier. Emerald could be a bit more difficult ... with full matchmaking. But Leander, Fiji and so on are worth it
-
I found it ... Naval Station Newport gives a japanese 10pt commander for 4 stars Aegis gives a russian 10pt commander for 4 stars Killer Whale gives a german 10pt commander for 4 stars Raptor Rescue gives a 10pt US commander for 4 stars A 10pt commander is an incredible boost and strenght for these low and middtier ships, a beginner has. A 10pt commander for the Aoba makes it almost a different ship, e.g. Almost a must-have, in my opinion
-
Your Aoba should be ok, too. Some operations are more friendly to cruisers than to BB. Warspite is pretty solid for operations, because of decent AA and secondaries, but the old lady is ... slooooow. You know, you can select any operation, not only the one of the week. Needs a litle bit scrolling and clicking, maybe, but you should be able to find out, which one rewards 5 stars with a 10pt captain. I would try to finish these first. Just saying ...
-
Operations is an excellent choice for making credits and xp. And some of them give you a 10pt captain for 5-star-reward But its all T6 or T7 ships. A good opportunity to get used to your Yorck ... ? Edit: and your shiny new Warspite maybe. Its a win-win, get to learn your new ships, make credits and xp and grab some good captain on top

Basically I agree with You. Gallant definitely has a lot more variation in playstyle. But he is an absolute starter, still. As long as @twoCannonsLess is not absolutely sure about his preferences in ships and styles, the cheap Campeltown is a perfect ship for testing. He seems to be testing IJN DD at the moment and that does not look too bad up to now. For the moment he absolutely seems to be on the right path, imo, for someone with less than 250 battles. Asking questions, taking advice, testing techtrees but staying grounded. All fine for my eyes ... @twoCannonsLess, you still have not found solid ground outside of the protected matchmaking. All T5+ ships are not promising in terms of damage, still. Quite some work to to and to learn, keep on going
-
Yep, standard torpedoes Pretty old ship, single fire was no option at that time
-
I am not the specialist regarding data, but at last up to Leander the ships are wrapped in toilet paper. Makes it easy: just dont get hit, dont get shot at all. Fiji and Edinburgh are weak, but can bounce 15cm AP, if you angle properly. Neptune ... i abandoned the line at this point honestly ...
-
Definitely PT. I always take last stand next because you never want to be immobile with these ships. More consumables for me at Level 3, more smoke and hydro is good. CE is a nobrainer at level 4. Works with CL and DD pretty good
-
Seems @Verblonde and me always share the Same Positions
-
Well, Emerald definitely is a difficult ship. I found Danae better tier for Tier, but Emerald makes you learn the mechanics: hydro smoke and heal. And the ship prepares you for the difficult because weak ammo. I jumped to Leander with free xp the First time and failed Bad. Second time i restarted with Emerald, suffered through IT and fared better My experience.
-
Right on point by@Verblonde imo. My first try with RN cruisers was a Desaster, honestly. Only the second try with two 10pt cpt was Better. I hated the ships up to T5, pure pain for me. But from T6 on i learned to love them. T6, T7 and T8 still in harbour. They all are incredibly squishy, everybody citadels you from almost every angle with Guns bigger than 15cm. The range is meh so you have to go closer then you might want to be and god beware if a bold BB is rushing you. Your AP will pling of harmlessly and you have no HE to burn him down. But if You succeed in finding good positions and use your smoke wisely, you can be such a pain in the a*** for the Reds with these Cruisers ... I learned to love them ... but i failed hard with them at First, really.

no, not really bad habbits. Its more of a certain playstyle that gets dictated by the specialities of the ships. RN DD have very short smoke duration, but a lot of smokes. Means, you cant comfortably sit in smoke and farm lots of damage because after 40 seconds you are visible again US DD should be the opposite: long smoke duration, but fewer smokes. You can sit almost 2 minutes in smoke with a US DD and fire away at targets Panasian DD urge you to play different again, because you cant fight other DD with your torps and so on ... The trademarks of the ships and nations dictate the playstyle. Stay flexible and test them all

A very googd decision, my friend, but please: You do not deserve misfortunes, just because you dont pay real money !! Just skip that thought ! Not every player needs to be as insane as me, owning almost every premium ship ... May I ask how skilled you captains are ? The KM BB captains should almost be elited, I guess. 18, 19 points ? The CV skipper has 18 What about your Aigle skipper ? How many points ? As already mentioned before, Aigle is not that typical DD .. a good skipper is almost mandatory. And dont stop asking questions ! This is a good forum. Everybody asking straightforward and honest questions will get every help that can be provided. As long as you are ready to accept it. Good luck mate

2 cents from a hobby DD skipper ... (not good enough to claim any legacy): if you leave aside arguments, that come into effect only at higher tiers, DD-play at lower and middtier is defined for me by the question: how comfortable does it play. As a beginner DD are not easy to manage, need a lot of map awareness (which usually is not there at this stage) and so everything that makes DD play easier is fine. Personally i dont like the RN DD because of the short smoke duration. Its a trademark, so nothing to be done about it, but imo it makes the handling of RN DD difficult. In every other aspect they are solid DD with the hydro consumable. The US DD were difficult for me at first. I did not like the short torprange at lower tiers and the gunnery ... needs getting used to ... a lot. Once you get the trick with that orbital guns, they are fine allrounders. They definitely get my vote IJN DD always were the most simple to play: torpedoes only, guns in desperate situations. That changed a lot. From T8 on there are frightening gunboats now as an alternative. I like my Kitakaze ... a lot Its interesting, that some japanese DD have astonishingly good AA ... Hatsuharu, I m looking at you, better AA than some light cruisers. I once again stress my sympathies for the panasian. Once I got the trick that you cant torp other DD, they were most fun for me. Panasian DD have the highest damage and Xp in my stats and over all I am definietly a pretty average DD skipper at best. These DW torps are so fast and hard to detect, any target has only half the reaction time compared to normal torps. And they hit like trucks. I enjoy them most, I have to admit So back to start: no, me personally I would not recommend RN DD for someone unexperienced

The most citadel-resistant ships should be the german BB, still. Their turtleback armor scheme makes them really hard to citadel at midrange or in a brawl.
-
Excellent tip imo, operations is one of the best opportunities to farm silver and xp and if you havent done before, there are even some good captains as prices
-
Yep, IFHE Henris are just ... pure evil ...
-
Absolutely true, as you say it. Dunno why my Kirov skipper has IFHE, but i am sure i skilled it that way. On Dimi I would not want to miss it, though.
-
I really would like to encourage @Tatsfield to try something new. From my opinion, You are kind of stuck with the KM BB. Your german battleships (and your US CV too) are kind of depleted. So many battles, not much progress. Neither a premium account, nor flags oder consumables are the real problem. Move on, try something new, dude. Free your mind from these german BB. There are so many techtrees, so many ships, so many opportunities to find out. Try some cruiser lines, whatever you do, go new ways. You need to find that funfactor again
-
Well no, I am not 100% sure about that. The slow but steady gain could be possible, of course. Better slow than nothing, for sure. The old but ever young question is: what solution would be better for him ? A premium account or a premium ship ? Both would be best, of course. @Tatsfield is an absolute BBmain player and almost exclusively german ships. A little bit US CV and RN CL, but not much. BB: Texas could be something worth buying. Its not expensive, even has decent AA for its tier and could make some credits even with low damage. Arizona maybe, but imo this ship got powercreeped. So maybe not Cruiserwise is more difficult: Charlston is cheap because coal, but a T3 does not create much income, nevertheless a fast and cheap solution and he can use one of his US skippers. Marblehead maybe, but not ideal. A ship where he again can use one of his US captains No germans get my recommendation from me. Looking at his BB stats, i dont dare to recommend any of the German premium BB. Tatsfields basic problem is the damage. His very first priority should be to do more damage, more credits will follow automatically. Edit: Forgot the Ishizuchi, a grossly underrated BB. Cheap at T4, should be easy-peasy for a BBmain and since the buff really nice to play.
