People claiming you can only preform using HE. Check. People surprised at the shell velocity despite it being similar to other RN ships. Check. @atomskytten making exaggerated sensationalist statements. Check. Players without the ship relaying the verdicts of the whingers. Check. All in the first page!

Citadelling other BBs, whilst not impossible is not the strong suit of the Nelson, but even using AP you can get some impressive 12-15k salvos on BBs. I have only had 1 game, I was top tier and I got 6 kills, so needless to say I enjoyed it! But, I will need to play her more to form a proper opinion.

Whilst it is perhaps the best indication you often have as to someone's performance as you have to be focused on your own game a lot of the time, XP doesn't always reward people who have done good stuff. I usually compliment people who I see doing something directly around me (obvious things like smoking me up when I am in a tight spot), but I am sure many aspects of good play go unnoticed in most games unfortunately.

I have quite a lot of them but certainly not all since there ar ea number that have been only available for the top level bundles on some premium ships. The vast majority of the flags I have redundant as I did for a long time only use 1 flag - the pirate flag I got for rank 1 (season 2). I never even put the flags on from ranked seasons that reduced repair costs... I prefer having the skull and crossbones! The rule changed slightly when I purchased the Hood uber bundle and got the Hood association flag which flies on the Hood only, obviously and now having got the FF flag this weekend that now flies proudly on the Algerie and Dunkek. I think the pirate flag will remain my go-to flag unless I pick one that I feel fits the ship better. Maybe the Dunkirk flag should go on the Gallant?

Got 1k dubloons this morning following on from the 14 days premium I got about a week ago.

Today is Friday. the weekend event starts on Saturday.

Most Kutuzovs I see don't sit within 7.77km of an enemy even when in smoke. Usually 10-15km. I expect people will still have no problem in making her work - she always was powerful before the introduction of IFHE with straight up fire damage.

Has to be pretty soon. As I have said before this is possibly the ship I have been waiting for more than any other and I am so ready for her arrival. I think we can all agree that it will be within a week or so rather than a month or so... Or is that my wishful thinking?

Sucks for the people who made the effort. The previous requirement was so steep I had absolutely no chance of completing it, so I didn't even try. But, I did really want the flag so I am happy they have changed their minds.

I don't even need to read the content of the thread and I can tell you that he was 'for real'.

Stats are by no means the be all and end all. There are so many things that can have an effect on them that cannot necessarily be seen at first glance. For example, average damage is affected by both the tiers you play and the classes you play - potentially even the nation you play. Even stats in individual ships can be skewed depending on when you played them - there are still plenty of people around who played the Colorado and Furutaka pre buffs. There are people who had insane CV stats before some of them got a huge nerf and there are plenty of ships that have been changed by the removal of stealth fire. People can farm win rate in lower tiers. People can farm damage in higher tiers. Depending on where you look at the stats you might only have an absolute figure which doesn't tell you how they currently play the game which is (likely) better than they were when they started. Divisions can skew someone's win rate (but potentially at the expense of average damage/kills). Various aspects of a player's contribution in certain scenarios withing a game are not detected, recorded or rewarded. I could go on... But, people trying to claim they are worthless and they mean nothing are wrong, and often when someone comes to the forum to denounce a ship as being useless/OP then a person's stats allow people who reply to the discussion to get some ideas as to what might be the problem. They most likely will not give the full picture, but they do give pointers. If someone is calling the ship X rubbish then you can look at things like have they even played the ship (happens with all ships but you especially get it with CVs). How many games have they played in that ship/class/tier? The guy calling Tirptiz crap might be someone who has 50 games in BBs total and his highest non-premium BB at tier 5. The guy whinging about the Fuso might have played 4 games and then perhaps you can ask whether he is still stock). What is their survival rate? What is their average damage? What is their win rate? Combinations of these 3 might hint towards someone who is rushing too much, or perhaps even the opposite - someone who is so passive as to be a burden. If they have problem with the North Carolina and swear it is the worst BB ever then you can compare their performance in it to another tier 8 BBs (if they have one) or compare it to their performance in other ships in that line. People complaining about CVs might be running AS when it is not advisable. Again, I could go on. Armed with these pointers, and knowledge you might have of the ship in question, you can start to offer suggestions or perhaps ask questions about how they play the ship. Without replays (and you would probably need quite a lot to make a proper assessment) often the only thing you can use is the stats you can find and like I said above you can compare the player to himself where possible and to the server average. Using the NCal as an example, it is quite a drastic change from what has gone before and if it looks like they have gone from decent NM and Colorado stats to poor stats in the NCal you can start talking about how the play-style differs and so they can adapt to it. Quite often people make sweeping statements about a ship with no real evidence to back it up and then they are surprised when people try to use some data as a counterpoint to it. You can also do this to yourself. I keep an eye on my overall win rate quite regularly (or at least I have a glance at the results I have had in play session) but if I feel like I am struggling with a ship I start to dig a little deeper. Sometimes I surprise myself when I feel like I lose a lot but my stats are better than expected, but often when they are sub-par I will then start to compare to the server average, and to its predecessor and compatriots and see if I can't see a problem. If I can see a stat that particularly stands out (such as low survival) then I will try and adapt my play. I also watch plenty of youtube videos that help me to spec my ship, captain and forewarn me of any pitfalls/changes in play-style of ships and this obviously helps with adapting.

475k ish. I don't want you thinking I can free XP to the top of the RN BB line - I don't have enough and I don't want to skip the ships. I will get the Nelson and use the rest on modules for the RN battleships if I think they need them to be competitive. I very much want to play every single ship in the RN BB line

I can't remember what I got from the missions... 2 sets of flags I think (1 being commander XP) but then yesterday I picked up another SC with 14 days of premium inside

I simply cannot wait for this ship. I have had her sister, Rodney as my forum picture since before alpha started and always had a thing for these ships. I now have somewhere in the region of 475k free exp which means I can get her on day 1 and still have a healthy supply of free XP for other ship upgrades. Throw in Jack Dunkirk + 1 extra 16-17 pt RN BB captain already and I am ready for both this ship and the RN BB line :D

You have admitted that you over extended and had no way to extricate yourself so where would the sense have been in your team mates dying alongside you? It is extremely likely that they could never have hoped to save you and would have died next to you, and so they didn't deserve the dressing down you gave them. As for the highlighted paragraph, I have actually spent a lot more time than I feel your replies have warranted trying to explain where things went wrong. Our discussion has not taken the form of you looking to a more experienced player for advice and self improvement only for me to chastise you for daring to try and better yourself. I don't recognise your narrative, and I don't recognise it as being my general view to dealing with people who want to improve.

Returning to the business of this thread properly, it was an actual pleasure to meet 2 forumites within 2 games a few days back whilst chasing the Yamamoto missions: First up was @Daydreamerr also chasing the missions in a cruiser it seems.. Straight after I met @Kazomir ...also chasing the missions! Strong performances from all involved

Lol. You were rude after dying. My involvement came when you blamed it all on the top tier ships (of which I was one). I didn't take kindly to being blamed for something at the other side of the map to me but it turns you didn't mean that and meant the mid tier ships. By that point I had already told you to stop blaming everyone else and pointed out about you over-extending.... and it escalated from there. You kept going on in chat, messaged me in port after the round and then came here. You admit to being salty but you didn't really make it clear just how salty you were! Yea, your team mates bailed on you, but even if we ignore the fact that you didn't notice so just sat there getting pounded, we should focus on the fact that them turning away was the correct decision: We had A + B on Tears of the Desert. At the point the enemy came into view towards C, there was either 7-8 ships there, including 1 of their 2 tier 9 BBs and the remaining ships of the enemy were all heading that way as well. Our team on the other hand had all 4 of our tier IXs spawn on the other side to you and 3 of us went to A and the Roon to B. All of this adds up to your flank being seriously out-matched both in terms of ship numbers and ship quality chasing after a 3rd flag i.e. one that we didn't need. Your flank should have been turning and kiting whilst the rest of us moved up from A to help support the defence of B cap (which I said in chat!).

Nelson as a free XP ship. That is news I like to hear! I am currently sat with a large amount of free XP - I won't even need to wait for a free XP conversion discount to make it a good enough deal for me like I did with the Missouri. This is what happens when 3 out of your last 6 supercontainers are filled with 50k free XP each :D On top of this I still have loads of flags that would allow me to push this up a lot higher. Yes, I am gloating. I love gloating.

Today's 2 crates got me to 13/16 with 18 duplicates allowing me to convert the final 3 and get the captain before I go away. Also hit rank 10 this morning which is likely as high as I will get. Only thing I am yet to do that I want to complete is unlocking the dunkerque camo... but I am on stage 4/4 for that so 1-2 games should see that done as well.

12/16 with 15 duplicates. Potential to finish tomorrow, before I go on holiday Thursday morning. But, I should be back before it finishes anyway.

I have done in ranked in previous seasons, for key ships, but I haven't even bothered doing that recently. If I am waiting for the game to start I am usually faffing with my phone, or looking at the news, or imgur, or reddit. I don't see the point in looking up ship stats just so that you can decide you are going to lose before the match starts - to me that is terrible attitude! You just need to put your big boy pants on try your best and that goes for any match you are in.
