Comrade Stalin sends reinforcements - Soviet cruisers revealed

My Russian is bad (i.e. non-existent) but it looks like this does nothing above say 'SN cruisers are on their way' and name them. Does it say anything about when they arrive e.g. 0.5.4? -
Re-Post: Matchmaking explained (from "Some interesting info from RU")

This was introduced in the patch. Yesterday's patch. -
when will WG finally adress the high tier game mechanics?
ilhilh replied to Vaderan's topic in General Discussion
I must be in a minority that doesn't pay much attention to my repair costs. I have only recently acquired my first 2 tier Xs and kitting out my Montana crippled me to the extent that I was going into battles with 100k credits in my Yamato and coming out with... well about 300k actually. So not that crippling... especially since I only play a couple of t10 games each session and inbetween I play my grind ships and prems. -
Ranked season feedback locked too early
ilhilh replied to Kamikazesushi's topic in General Discussion
Atago might be most popular because it is the most accessible CA at tier 8. If I want to play CA at tier 8 then it will be my Atago because it is the only one I own! However, I don't pick it as I am not great in cruisers and there is no appeal to being a walking citadel in ranked games. And the Atago has always been regarded to have quite a high skill ceiling so bad players will struggle with it but the better players can really make it work. -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
ilhilh replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Ran into ghostbuster_ yesterday. I asked if he was the guy from the forums and he said no, and why did I ask... but he really is that guy. So, a little odd for him to say no... Anyway it was my first game post patch and we were both on the same team: I was in my Yamato (secondary test) platooning with ton0kki (forumites channel) in his Taiho (planes post patch test). Ghostbuster_ was in his shima platooned with someone in their Yamato. It was a comfortable win with the 4 of us racking up 6 of the kills and only losing 5 as a team. My secondaries fired for about 5 seconds total so it wasn't much of a test. -

Toby said that if it was like real life then everyone would play BBs and CVs. Which they would because they are massively stronger. That has no bearing on how they were used in history. You don't need to read a book... first start with reading the thread properly, replying properly and then you can progress to books. -
Argh the resetting to big carousel is annoying. I have too many ships for the big one...
-
No. There is a safe mode you can start the game in (from the launcher) that disables them. But it is not stopping you from using mods if you want to.
-
Thank you all for the advice. I think I'll go for superintendent for now and see how it pans out.

The original feedback thread is now closed and likely to disappear from view so I want to draw attention to MrConway's summary post for those people that missed it getting added: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/44435-ranked-battle-season-3-feedback/page__st__40__pid__859883#entry859883

Fire prevention is a 7% reduction on the chance of starting a fire. Not 7% from 100% chance. It doesn't have much effect.

How do you know when is the time to stop playin at least for a month?
ilhilh replied to FaceFisted's topic in General Discussion
You lost 4 games. Wow. I lost 4 out of first 5 last night... then won 7 in a row. The screenshot of the Fujin game doesn't show you carrying a crap team. Sure the -2 is less than useful but it doesn't look like you did much personally The gremy game is again unfortunate but a) it doesn't relate to those 4 losses and b) 2 pink players doesn't mean they are going to start trashing your team. My experience is that over 90% of pink players I have been teamed up with have played the game normally -
I love this thread. To the OP - please stay at tier 5 with your Kongo. Thanks.

I detect a common theme

I finished rank 1 last season and after 1 battle in season 3 I got a windfall of goodies that I would have picked up earlier. This season I went to rank 10... dropped to 11. Stopped. I didn't have enough time or the inclination to focus on playing the same tier 8 ships over and over for another season so close to the previous one. I hope there is a bit of a break before season 4 particularly as team battles are just arriving... but having not played for a while I am feeling more refreshed anyway.
-
What you liked: Barely participated. I think I pushed to rank 10 or 11 but then I stopped. Made rank 1 in season 2. What you disliked: As I said above I didn't play that much as there were lots of other missions (ARP) and just general progress towards tier 10 on some lines that I wanted to make with my limited gaming time. Suggestions for the next season: More space between seasons. You need to devote quite a lot of time to get to the top of ranked and it loses its appeal if there is no break between. As I said above one of the main drivers was that I just wanted to play my other ships and I didn't have time for both. My choices for ranked at tier 8 are quite limited but I can't improve those chances if all I am doing is playing already elited ships. Allowing pearls to be collected in ranked was also a good decision - you have to be careful which missions are in ranked as they could seriously screw with gameplay... but, if possible they should be allowed in ranked.

Please note that torpedoes getting spotted and you spotting that torpedoes have been spotted are not the same thing.

Yea I had forgotten about them. TBH I hate the low tiers but they didn't seem awash with premiums or indeed particularly skilled players last time I started a new line. As for the sailing in a straight line - when does that stop? I do spend a lot of time at the high tiers and I still see it depressingly often... and it is hardly the case that it is restricted to BBs. If your definition of seal-clubbing encompasses all tiers then it is not a very good definition.
-
The St Louis is tier 3... and why is it in this discussion at all? Also, tier 5 is mid tiers... seal clubbing is something that is the domain of the low tiers.
-
So? How blatantly OP is the Kutuzov in 0.5.3 compared to the other Tier 8 Cruisers?
ilhilh replied to MrFingers's topic in Archive
Which other premiums? From the discussion I have read most of the changes compensate for the captain skill changes without improving the ship itself. The RoF boost might be a buff but it isn't much. The ship should perform basically like she does and she isn't considered 'OP' currently so why would she be OP post patch? Or have I missed something? There appears to be some conflation of the MK changes and the Mogami nerfs but they are not the same thing - the Mogami changes don't make the MK OP. I understand that the Mogami was never intended to be used with the 155s in final configuration and the 155s are what made her perform decently but the Atago performs well using 203s and relatively short range at the same tier - I am aware that they have their differences (repair party etc) but their guns/ranges are comparable. -
0.5.3 is coming. Public Test confirms WGs changes.
ilhilh replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
I didn't have much time to go on the test server (too much to do on the live server when I have time to play!) so I am interested in seeing what the Team Battles are like and also how the AA changes affect CV play. I am not a predominantly CV player but I do like playing them... but I am worried these changed will make playing them entirely unrewarding. Also, I'm looking forwards to kitting out my captains with the new skills - particularly my 2 newest purchases, Yamato and Montana that I am setting up as full-secondary and full-AA respectively. -
So now we have week 3 missions I thought I would try and get an idea how people feel we are progressing. Week 1 could be characterised by outrage. 2000 kamikazes in a LOTTERY. One that would be giving people anything between a 1:15 and a 1:20 chance. And that would have been hard to swallow but then we looked at the SEA/RU servers and saw that they could guarantee themselves one. Why are we so different? But, within days WG had bowed to the pressure they were put under. The lottery for 150 pearls remained... but for 260 pearls you could be certain of having a kamikaze-r in your port. Everyone was happy, and everyone had a right to be happy. ...then the week 2 missions arrived. 'We already have 3 mil pearls!', 'we earned 400k in day' were the cries we heard. Now this issue wasn't whether we would get to 10 million... but would we get there before week 4 (this week would allow people to jump from max 236 pearls and break the 260 pearl marker). Had we been sold a lie? Had they told us 260 pearls knowing that we would never get there? A sick, twisted joke on us. And now we are onto week 3's pearls. We have broken the 5 mil mark - over half way there. Things do seem to have settled down a bit on the forum but are there still people out there biting their finger nails, anxiously checking the total... then their calendar... then their working out... then the total again whilst worrying we might not get what we want? Let me know your thoughts p.s. I'm going for option 3 - defo hitting the target within the time frame and not so rushed that some people cannot get to 260 if they have put in even a modest amount of effort.

I haven't taken mine out for a spin yet.... I'll leave it a week or so. It does have my Umikaze captain in it though so has a head-start in skills. I have however killed several after heading out in my Gremy

Which modules and Planes for the North Carolina and onwards
ilhilh replied to _FTD_'s topic in Battleships
As much as the fighter is useless most of the time the spotter plane is worse. I only use it on stock BBs. I hate the viewpoint it gives and most of the time it offers no advantage if you have been watching the minimap/playing aggressively enough. The fighter at least can help spot torps and occasionally disrupt an attack and it does it for a longer period and without screwing your perspective.
