    Repair cost increase ?

How would making the credit costs more sustainable at tiers 8-9 (and I presume then reduced at tier 10 to fit in line) work as a business model. As in how would that improve the income to WG. Or do you think their business model is aimed at improving the warm fuzzy feeling people (particularly free players) get when they see their credits go up?

    Repair cost increase ?

I guess if you stay at tier 8 you can save up loads of credits to spend on... nothing. Credit earning on the first 8 tiers should outstrip ship costs (certainly long term).

    In-game Soviet Cruiser event

I was platooning with Aotearas for a few games last night - he was grinding his NY and I was in my Gremy so he saw a little bit of what it canI can make it do
  4. search for 'forumites' channel. You will find several. Join the one set up by Sturmtiger using the password play4fun - it can be relatively empty in the afternoons but picks up in the evenings.
  5. I don't think the deck armour increases on most ships goes up enough to counter the huge increase in damage they do and I have seen some screenshots showing a decent amount of DB damage. To be honest I am at a bit of a loss with CVs. I elited the Hiryu ages ago and my original plan was then to fly up the USN CV line but the recent changes have definitely given me pause for thought - to the extent that I elited the Independence 2 days ago sold it and now I'm... deliberating. The Ranger always looked like a weak ship particularly against the Hiryu but the top tiers made getting past it worth it. I soon realised that the Langley and Independence were excellent and the Bogue was...less-bad than expected but by the time you get to the Ranger you can face some fairly epic AA when not top dog. I think I might push on to the Lex because it gives some flexibility when playing team battles (i.e. I don't have to just play BB) and I really want to keep the Hiryu - it is my tier 7 'keeper'. Then I can put off any decision about top tier CV until... well until it is worth it. Anyway, I'm rambling so I'll stop.
  6. I have ships in all tiers from 2-10. If I like a ship I keep it and it is a good philosophy - I do weigh it up against having experienced captains, the cost of port slots and what other ships I have at a tier but yea, I defo keep my favourite ships. But, as I say I have gone to the top of some trees - I didn't get to the Fuso, decide it was great and then stop there. I kept it and then bought the Nagato on top of that. On top of that I feel some of your analysis of the CVs is a little off. If you look at just the number of squadrons or perhaps hangar size then you miss out on the other differences for tiering up such as speed, HP and damage e.g. the lex starts getting the 1,000lb DBs. Oh and you are basing all of you views on 3rd hand evidence since you only have played tier 7 max - you don't even see tier 10s at that level. That is not to say that there are not problems with the meta of the game at high tiers but you shouldn't discount the gameplay there without experiencing it yourself. Personally I love a challenge - and that doesn't mean I want to be some kind of masochist and play terrible ships, but it does mean that I enjoy the challenge of being effective in unfavourable conditions e.g. how to make yourself useful in tier 10 when facing 3 shimas in a platoon - you have to find ways to adapt and then hopefully succeed in earning victory.

Mines - A consumable for Cruisers?

The problem is it would make everyone passive. You claim it is an anti DD weapon but it doesn't just target DDs - it would cause damage to all classes. And the fact that you think it should be invisible means that the fear factor goes through the roof. At least with torps you get some chance to dodge them. Not to mention that you would have to assume they would do serious damage to a ship - probably instakilling DDs and wiping huge portions of health off of everything else.

    Team killer discussion thread

Yes. Your friend really is an angry little man who can't control his temper.
  9. When I was looking down at the rest of you from the top of our team those were my thoughts

Mines - A consumable for Cruisers?

There are enough complaints about torps etc. Can you imagine the amount of complaints that would ensue from people hitting invisible minefields and getting their bow blown off. No thanks.
  11. I'm still using virgin (Manchester) and I've not had any problems with them for the past 4 years. About once per month I have to reset my router because I do start getting packet loss but that has always fixed it (ok, so I guess you could call that a problem but it really is no big deal to me!). As a by the way, the recent micro-lag in game is not ISP related. I am however going to be moved in with my other half by Easter and she has BT... I'm not sure exactly what level of service she has with them but it is near the top of my to-do list to find out and then take over that side of things
  12. Saw General_Kunde last night and said hi but he didn't reply. I was in my Gremy and he was in his Yorck on North. I went west pretty much on my own and started chewing on a Nagato with invisi fire but then an Aoba started hunting me down. I started tackling him but was losing some health when a Kiev showed up and finished me off. I had got 3 citadels and a torp hit on the Aoba so I was confident in winning that but I expect dealing with a Kiev in the Gremy would have been problematic anyway. In the end our team lost emphatically with General_Kunde and 2 others still being alive but very few of the enemy being dead. Not a great game.

Kinda scared to switch from Nagato to Amagi

It is a lovely ship. Just make sure you try and pull it out of stock configuration before forming a judgement (ideally use some free EXP). I didn't actually notice much of a difference armour wise from the Nagato (although getting detonated by a NM bow on was... distressing). Sure it will get citadelled but the reality is that at any tier if the captain doesn't look after his angling he is an easy citadel target from any BB - if you have been getting multiple citadels on an Amagi it would be a broadside one. It also seemed to me to have both a decent enough firing angles and manoeuvrability so it can work well weaving between angled and broadside between shots.

    fix the game

Your earnings in the game are based on the damage you do. Your average damage in the Ishizuchi is 20k which is not very high and as such you don't earn very much.
  15. There were champions for all 3 ships on the forums but I think more people seemed of the opinion that the gremy was best. I don't remember watching load of videos but I did read the forums extensively first. I had decided for financial reasons that I could only justify to myself getting 1 ship but it being the best of the 3 didn't necessarily translate to it being OP - they could all of been crap. And, having got my Gremy I specced it as a ninja torp ship and did terribad in it originally. Then I ignored it for ages and then having heard people sing its praises I looked into how to play it, respecced my captain and now it is one of my favourite ships. Having a bad run of games? Get the Gremy out and smash some teams up. EDIT: Got to agree with Soppatykki about them being pretty unlikely to sell the Gremy again - it has too good a reputation and rightly so and it would cause some serious issues if the number of them in game spiked massively. Of course it would give them a massive short term money boost and we all know how much they like their money...

    So i returned to BBs...

Lots of ships are terrible stock, but I feel you notice it more on BBs. I don't think I have played a single battleship in stock config... although potentially I did a bit at tier 3-4 when new ships come around fast - god invented free XP for these situations. The Amagi is brilliant - in fact having played all 3 tier 8 BBs I am of the opinion they are all very good and very capable. Sure there is RNG but as others have pointed out it is worse on the NC/Tirpitz and it is a balancing feature. As long as you keep putting shells in the correct ballpark then you are going to stack up the damage. You shouldn't ignore a Cleveland but at the same time it shouldn't be an existential threat to a great big 2 tier higher BB! And although rushing a cruiser can be a recipe for extreme torp pain that is not the case with the Cleve that doesn't have any! At some point if they are bow on to you they should regret that decision and turn... and then even if damage has been slightly inconsistent you should be able to pretty much delete them.

    Smoke nerf?

Normally as soon as I pop smoke I knock myself into reverse, drop speed and then reverse back a bit into the cloud I have created and park. Then I smash stuff up until it becomes time to high-tail it out of there.

Well it is nice of WG to throw in this AFTER the fact. My main reason for not trying for rank 1 in season 3 surrounded ranked fatigue but having the same flag available was another factor - I already had it. Now there is another flag I can't earn because the season is over which is annoying.
  20. I only bought the Gremy... turns out I made the correct choice

    Bogue - Upgrade path choices?

I ran the stock hull (1/1/0) for the entire time I had the Bogue and upgraded the fighters first. Some people might make strike work but as soon as a competent CV player realises you are running strike then they can make you life very uncomfortable - I faced a strike Ranger in my Hiryu just this morning and as soon as I realised that with my 2/2/2 loadout hiryu I just roamed the map with my fighters shooting down as many of his planes as I could whilst my strike planes were only restricted by ship AA meaning it was easy to head straight to my target and decimate them. Having fighters both protects your strike planes and also makes then enemy think more about what they are doing i.e. you can make their attack run take longer, panic (should result in less hits) or take more plane losses. And as a final point there are a depressingly large quantity of AS CVs out there and they are even more problematic for a loadout that has no fighters. Anyway, as a general rule, if you are going to use fighters then they are the first thing to upgrade on a CV - then you can start looking at TBs (or hull if it increases the hangar dramatically).

THANK YOU WG, for the wonderful weekend

Potentially... but what kind of distances are we talking? I must confess to not using the Cleve post patch, but, even with a relatively sprightly BB like the Kongo it is not that hard to keep shells peppering it all day long.
