I live in hope that one day Andreas will say something positive about this game. Every day it is a new complaint. If I had that many complaints about a game I would probably stop playing it and find something I enjoyed more...

I've only managed 7 games with my 12 point captain - soon to be 13... boosting the hell out of it! I've had some good games (best game 115k in first game!) and some terrible games (8k dmg 1 game, losing 80-90% health in another to a Leander in 1 salvo). So, safe to say I'm still learning. And, it is also safe to say I am a fairly mediocre in cruisers in general: I love that she has the option to just bully people out of cap in the right situation, or just pepper everything in other situations. Map awareness becomes key and I've not perfected that by any stretch but I am definitely starting to learn how to spot and exploit these and also avoid ones that are dangerous. I think a mistake some people make is that they insist on sitting in their smoke. I know from facing them I have had success at angling and rushing other Belfasts but when it looked like someone was going to do that to me I dropped smoke and ran... by the time they got to and through my smoke I had kept my distance up and was disappearing behind an island.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
ilhilh replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
I met Unintentional_Submarine and got the kill on him. We were both in our Yamatos and I only noticed him as I shot him the first time and tried to say 'hi submarine' but said 'hit submarine'... as I did hit him. This caused some confusion Anyway, their team seemed always to be on the back foot and although I took some big hits I was never in any real danger and got a respectable 160-180k dmg in. -
The 5 gift containers with fixed contents don't count so you have had none in 15 since by yesterday you could have had a maximum of 15.

Container statistics - looking for players for data collecting

I don't want to believe I am unlucky but I think I have done try your luck for 5 flags each time. I want a supercontainer! *stomps feet* -
The dire state of CVs - will something be done?
ilhilh replied to Syrchalis's topic in General Discussion
+2 tier MM can indeed be tough for a CV. I have been in these games and you look and think "Well, what the hell am I expected to do against all of that?". But actually, once you have clicked battle you are stuck with it and it is time to make the most out of it so I ask myself "really, what can I do here?" and using Shokaku as an example it might end up something like this: 1 enemy Lexington - at tier 8 you get defensive AA and it will take a long time to even get around the map. Waste of time unless nothing else around and I can at least force him to waste def AA. 5 BBs - Yamato, GK, Montana, NCal and Amagi. Only reasonable target is the Amagi... I will keep an eye out for him being on his own - as soon as he leaves the pack he is dead. Late game can potentially go for some of the others. 4 CAs - Des Moines, Ibuki, Kutuzov, Atago - need to avoid DM and Kutuzov at all costs. Ibuki and Atago can be targets as their AA isn't great but both might have def AA so will have to force them pop it and then wait - again, they are only remotely viable if they are on their own. 2 DDs. Udaloi and Fubuki. Now these are people I can piss off whilst I wait for the bigger sips to split up. They are likely to be operating in front of serious AA cover. Ok... so now we have a plan. Annoy DDs - these are your bread and butter but you also keep an eye out for the Amagi/Ibuki/Atago in the open. Since you have limited targets, take your time and as I said force people to waste things like def AA and then torp them... and just keep an eye out for targets of opportunity e.g. if their Yamato charges forwards and then sits there bow on tanking damage then keep an eye on it. If you have ships, particularly high RoF HE spammers like CAs and gunboat DDs all spamming him then his AA will get decimated and that is your chance to get some decent damage in. -
Game is boring below tier 5...at least for me...isn´t it a problem for WG?
ilhilh replied to Kamikazesushi's topic in General Discussion
I find those tiers boring too but is it a problem for WG? Should they really be concerned? I usually only play low tiers when grinding through it and I am always pretty thankful I don't need to be there very long. Occasionally I will be in a division and someone will want to play a low tier and I know which ships I will use... but I would still rather be higher up the tiers. -
Fletcher is an absolute animal. Iowa is decent. Can't speak for the Russian CA.

Works fine on 10 for me and most. Your in depth diagnostic skills needs some refining...

Bloody hell, props to that guy for the gift. Enjoy!

Well you edited the post I replied to because it was so salty but my reply is to what you originally wrote (and is quoted by me). Not sure why you mention BBs. As for CVs in ranked if they are uneven then they an be hugely decisive, but if either a) they are fairly equally skilled captains and/or b) the opposing team makes the most of its AA assets then they can be hard to make an impact in. But, I guess you have you are certain in your mind from a narrow perspective of someone who has exclusively played a Bismarck - i.e. something with decent enough AA but a better target than your NCals and Kutuzovs etc. But, that is an even further digression from the thread - I made that post your quoted because those 2 recent interactions with you are you being very rude vocal about people's choices because they don't conform to your ideals of what is acceptable... and that is just a little bit sad really.

I think: Basics of survivability (BFT not so useful here). Expert Marksman (turrets not especially fast). Superintendent (more smokes/radars/hydro - you have hydro so no need for vigilance ). Demolition Expert if dedicated Belfast captain. If using for other RN CLs DE is worthless so AFT probably much better. Concealment Expert.
-
Feel free to pick my skills apart all you like. Thing is, if he is going to claim I have no pride and no dignity then he must be pretty angry about the situation... and if he wants to insult me because of which ships I buy then my response is that I would love to troll him in the thing that makes him angry.
-
So much salt. Please, please let me meet you on the enemy team when sailing mine. I met you in ranked when I was in a CV and you were whining about how the CV would decide it... I enjoyed sinking you.
-
No, the Belfast is much less situational than the Atlanta or other RN CLs. The number of tricks up its sleeve mean it can make itself useful in many situations rather than a few specific ones.
-
As someone who is a certified sealclubber in silver ships I guess it does qualify you to know what one is. At least the Belfast is at tier 7.
-
You can if you want to sell many Belfasts

Only knew it was released by seeing it in my first game in my Bismarck. So got it and played 1 game: Nothing special in that game... but I like her

Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]
ilhilh replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
The requirements/thresholds are exactly the same just explained in different ways. 12,500 is the 10,500 minus the 2,000 for crate 1. 24,500 is the 37,000 minus the 12,500 for crates 1 and 2 so the higher values are cumulative and the lower values only represent the XP needed to get from the previous crate to the next. -
In their defence that was a response to people mooting the NA November deadline. It was also before we knew the silver ship line was being released. This means that if it comes out this weekend then it is earlier than most people expected... but when they announced the RN cruiser release at such short notice everyone's expectations have shifted dramatically.
-
And here comes the tinfoil hat brigade.
-
It includes first win and any other bonuses (like using ESCL flags). It is entirely achievable in a couple of games. I wasn't using XP flags but did use different ships so got the first win bonus multiple times.

http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/64470-containers-what-will-be-your-strategy/page__st__40__pid__1372450#entry1372450 3 games in a day for 2 crates? 4 max, as long as you are not clubbing tiers 1 and 2. The requirements for 2 crates is really not very high.

I'm sorry - I shouldn't joke. Let me put it another way then: You are being ridiculous.
