ARP Takao? nah, prepare for the ARP Nachi pain
ilhilh replied to Jvd2000's topic in General Discussion
LOL! You are exaggerating right? I'm on 18/20 myself and I must average over 1 SN ship per game at those tiers. Even if I had half of the SN kills I do have I would still think I had more than enough time to complete it. -
Skybuck! Hi!

Last night in my Kiev I hear a guy on our team say 'OMG Saipan fail - you should never pick TBs on the Saipan. Me:

No he didn't. Stop arguing like a child. If you expect WG to market everything at the brand new player then you are being ridiculous. Not only will it not be the case that people have 0, but they have given everyone advance warning to give them chance to horde some free XP.

You go on a hefty rant there trying to assume that people don't understand the mechanics and yet you seem to want to work everything out from a blank slate - for many people they have huge supplies of unconverted XP (more than they will ever need for the Missouri) and some even have huge supplies of free XP - the cost of the ship is the difference between your free XP and the required free XP price at the point you want to buy it and can be worked out in actual £££s. In the past 3-4 days I have earned about 40k free XP and you would have me add all of the games I have played to the cost of the Missouri, and yet, apart from equipping papa papa flags to a few (4-5) ships I have made precisely 0 effort to get the Missouri. I have been playing my Fletcher, Ibuki, Taiho, Bismarck, Kiev and Yamato and I have been playing those for the following reasons: Except for the Yamato, none of them are elite and I want to progress those lines. Except for the Kiev they all advanced the Takao and (potentially) Nachi missions. The Ibuki and Fletcher advance the... torpedo hits mission (can't even remember what it is for!). I enjoy all those ships. I do not include those games in the cost of the Missouri despite the fact that they are in effect contributing to it. And I also cannot include the games I have spent playing elited/premium ships as a part of the price for the Missouri because I earned millions of it before Mighty Mo was even a twinkle in WG's eye. I will keep playing games because I enjoy WoWs and I will choose the ships I want to play for many reasons... but it won't be directly to buy the Missouri. As I said above, the cost will be the price that remains after I subtract the free XP in my account from the price WG set - and that is it. You do make a (semi) valid point about the silver cost when comparing free XPing to the Iowa, but again that it isn't an issue for everyone (I have loads of credits).
-
There is no confirmation on the price but the post directly above yours confirmed it won't be as high as 800k (which is good news). But, it will be a straight cost - premium ships have never taken into account progress on a silver ship line and indeed it wouldn't make sense for them to because ships like the Blyskawica and Warspite don't even have a related line in game.

Stop putting words into other people's mouths. I like it and other responses on here seem to suggest others do too. Perhaps you should start a poll...

ARP Takao? nah, prepare for the ARP Nachi pain

Quick guys! We are 1/6 of the way through the allocated time! Panic! -
I got a kraken in a game that lasted 6:39... in my Arkansas... clubbing at its finest. I have potentially been party to faster games but that is the only one I have screenies of.

It is a support class and with the average skill in games you often need to do more carrying - cruisers are are pretty unsuited to doing that though.

Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]
ilhilh replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Just checked and I have opened 48 containers. 2 SC so far. -
They would probably sell them at a price that it would be cheaper just to convert it and save the hassle of equipping the flag and playing a match!
-
I guess that would work well from a business point of view - you want it now? pay up! You want it free (or cheap)? you have 6 months to grind away. I know that I've managed to gain 30k free XP in I think 2 days, but the 100% first win has ended now so it will slow up a bit. I expect getting up to 300k free XP will be achievable relatively quickly, but that will of course be dependant on how long we have - I can only go through my 150 remaining papa flags if they give us enough time to do it.
-
I agree that the ROI on converting XP to free XP is about as bad as it gets, and as such I don't do it, but this situation is a different as it all depends on the free XP price of the Missouri. If the dubloons needed to get the Missouri is at a reasonable level (i.e. slightly above the tier 8s) then the general cost of free XPing modules and ships in the general tech tree is irrelevant. The use of free XP to get the ship instead of dubloons (or just an actual cost) is something of a gimmick (although it does introduce a variable price structure). All attention, as always, simply need to to trace back to the real life money it costs and decisions can be based on that.

I used to use the WoT one a lot - it is still on my phone even though I haven't played tanks in about a year! Would definitely like a WoWs app.

to OP: The MM changes have screwed over tiers 5 and 6 the most and I guess for CVs the AA ramps up a lot at those tiers. Luckily I got past those tiers before they introduced the +/-1 for up to tier 4 so it wasn't as bad for me but, as other have pointed out, the only thing to do is get a feel for which targets are food and which are to be avoided - at tier 6 you simply don't have the plane reserves to waste on the wrong target. As the map loads up you need to be looking at the team list and figuring out which are your best targets - it might only be 3-5 ships but it is enough to start looking out for which of those 5 ships is alone and vulnerable. Stop being ridiculous.

Well, perhaps this is why we need to react - I know this is a leaked figure and may not actually reflect their planning, but, they need to understand that the community thinks that such a price is a step too far.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Such a frustrating loss as we almost dragged it back from a loss and was about 5-10 seconds away from my kraken as I had 2 low health kageros about 3km away in smoke shooting at me and I was chasing them down and both had blown their torps. I think getting both was entirely possible and the Neptune was never going to win Vs the Roon and Izumo. 1 minute and the win was ours. Pretty much stock Ibuki too (had FCS but A hull and stock torps) -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

Saw albinbino (FdG) and Flamu (well, one of his alts in his Kiev) both in my team yesterday whilst I was in my Fletcher. I died embarrassingly easily and Flamu ate a wide spread Blyska torp and it was starting to look a bit ropey but my division mates Babykim (3 kills) and FireRM (5 kills) helped secure us the win. -
I can't find where it has been said but I do remember someone saying it had been confirmed to be a serious credit earner - in the region of 1 million credits for a good game.

800k seems pretty much confirmed as a current figure. 32,000 dubloons to convert that which works out at £93.77 (€105.28). Assuming that is just ship and port (or potentially not even port slot if you buy it from in game) then that is insane. Maybe you will get some other flags/junk in with it? Other information is that it has 25 sec rudder shift (ouch! potentially forces you to take the module which means you just get spotted from the moon instead), better mid range but worse short range AA and is potentially slower than the Iowa. Whilst I was very excited about the announcement of the Missouri I am definitely going off the idea with that information. If I blow all of my papa papa flags then I might get to say 200k free XP (at the expense of using it on anything else) and that would mean I 'only' need 24k dubloons which is £71 + time and effort... I just can't justify that. I've not seen anything to suggest what consumables it might get to try and compensate for that atrocious rudder shift and price tag but time will tell I guess. Please keep in mind that this figure might have been datamined or something so when I say confirmed I mean confirmed as the current price tag and not confirmed by WG as being the release price tag. For more information see: http://i.4cdn.org/vg/1478664231801.png EDIT: someone in the reddit thread pointed out that you could free XP to the Iowa from tier 1 for 800k. Which would be ridiculous... right?
-
Sure, if you own the Anshan If someone was to buy the Anshan to try and make the Missouri cheaper then I would question their sanity
-
But it reflects some other questionable decisions. Whilst I can understand them having the free XP generation rate matching the other titles, the papa papa flags are unnecessary as is making the Anshan generate it at such a high rate. Things like permanent camos just push that further up since they increase your XP gain. I had 165 papa flags just sat around. I put them on all tier 9+10 and the Bismarck (currently grinding) and I generated 15k free XP last night.

20/13/10/20 for me. Still don't know why my USN is lagging so much but 10 in 9 days is still fine. I might resurrect this topic at the beginning of December (half way point) and see how many of the people who were complaining haven't finished yet...
