Yeah. After I read this I wanted to check out what my sources have to say about that. I looked for data in one of my books and...what :amazed: It said-Deck: 6in (152mm). So third data already. And this book usualy don`t lie. Thats odd so I went to grab a little deeper and thats what i found in another book: "A remarkable feature of the class was the provision of two heavily armoured decks, with a splinter deck between them. The armoured decks had a combined thickness of about 12in (305mm), giving the ships unequalled protection against plunging shells and bombs." but than again in this same book specifications are: "Armour: decks 1.5in + 4.7in + 5.5in (38mm + 120mm + 140mm);" so this is now 298mm all together not 305mm. Ok, last source Conways All the worlds Battleships: "STS, deck 6in (152mm) with 1.5in (38mm) weather deck and 0.62in (16mm) splinter deck" Without this last "splinter deck" data thats 190mm as your source say. So it just seems that because of composition of the armour data differes from source to source depending what they include in deck data.

requiems, on 14 September 2013 - 01:24 PM, said: agreed. The UK scrapped way too many of its ships. I wished they had preserved more! Yes, sad truth. HMS Victory...Absolute beauty! It looks that they take care of her very well also. Maybe even too well since its look like new. Is this original equipment or just replicas? Thanks for sharing extra pics. :great: :medal:

Imperatritsa Mariya-class Battleships
MR_Barbarossa replied to Camiroq's topic in Age of Armour Warships
"August 13, 1914 an agreement was signed for the construction of the fourth unit, which was originally planned installation of a stronger weaponry. Finally, the last ship of this type was to receive only slightly stronger armor. In 1916, after launching the construction of the last of the series was stopped, and the continuation of its construction it was considered inadvisable." I was interested why this happened. Was it because design wes not good enought? Or something else? I checked my books a little, I didnt research too much, but it seems that Russian Car went out of money.  . At least it look so since they had same problems when they try to finnish other 3 ships so they limit their displacement, final speed was lower because of this ...etc. Nice post btw. :honoring: -
Chapayev class Soviet cruiser

Fiold, on 13 September 2013 - 12:31 PM, said: Nice one. Comparable to Town class cruisers. Actually Town class is very comparable to this class and was not bad at all. Armament is very similar. But Chapayevs looks better for sure. -

Camiroq, on 13 September 2013 - 12:09 PM, said: Chapayev-class was a very good light cruisers. +1 Since there is not much sources about how well this class did in practice its actualy difficult to say. Same story that with a lot of Soviet ships. There was just not a lot of leaks and Soviets had a lot of secrets. But nevertheless, it looks that Chapayev did well since next class Svedrlov was only evolution of this ships an not entirely new design. In addition, they look very nice if u ask me. -
