Whatevs man, whatevs. @Admiral_H_Nelson Here you have first vid I made about RN cruisers, commentary is mostly some general advices, and is in polish - turbo - klingon language, but it has Fiji in it, so it's awesome already. Most important thing - check where I aim my shots, and compare them to where you aim with regular cruisers. It's one of the most important things with RN.

I guess reading with understanding isn't your thing, is it? -
Then prepare to wait at least a week. I explained why I won't play them until know, I really hope you're smart enough to find where. On the other hand, I still wait for some good games in your other low tier cruisers. 10 each?
-
You will love Neptune. It's a bit different then Edinbourgh, but after you got hull - damn she's a beast!
-
Doesn't it also work the same for AP spam? It's the same, apart that your damage will not be repairable in 100%. It's a bit smaller, but only a bit, but not all of it can be regained. quoted post removed [edited] If that's the case, then indeed. But it must be some time till they collect and analyse the data. So I wouldn't expect it soon :<
-
Yes, you are right. And yes, I agree that if indeed, lower tiers are underperforming, which is hard to tell really, with borked MM that will go on for a week or so, they should be buffed. I just disagree with comments from people that didn't even made to Leander, but they somehow know how whole line is crap, useless and whatnot, cause it doesn't have brainless HE of IJN cruisers on them. And who was that guy, who actually said, that smoke was a "liability"? How retarded is that comment? What I'm doing here, is just showing you that those cruisers are very strong, and fun to play. So even if there are some real shitty ships before, it's well worth the grind to go to the good ones. That is all.

Yeah, cause that was what I was doing in this thread since it started, insulting people. On the other hand, did you do anything else then whine and moan, demanding an official apology from WG employees like Tuccy for you, Akula971, the most important person, here on forums? I'm done with you, unless you can surprise me with something smart. -
Obviously I think at this point in this discussion I've already made it quite clear I didn't play lower tiers And I would lower it to tier VI+ Bayern already have an extensive superstructure on upgraded hull. [edited] You're wrong. Fire damage, as well as HE damage, is 100% regainable for BB. AP damage is not. I don't remember exact number, but I think it was something around 60% for penetrations? Would have to check it. Fire scales upwards? You mean, it scales with HP of the BB you're shooting at. But it's worth nothing. Why? Cause as HP of a BB winds up, it outclassess any DPM you can have from HE ammo, not to mention fire resists each ship have also scale up, captain perks included, modules as well as armour. Fires themselves are responsible for the least amount of damage BB gets. You do 50k fire damage, and BB can get that back. You do 40k of AP damage, and BB can get 25k back. It's a trap for new players, that think fire and HE damage means something. They don't. Unless you can finish your target. If you didn't, then you just wasted few minutes of spamming. Meanwhile, three minutes of constant AP spam from RN cruisers result in, roughly, 2k per salvoe, from 7.5 sec reload, 48k damage, and part of it can't be gained back. So even if your target disengage, some part of it's HP will be missing later. Although sheer damage from AP doesn't scale, the capabilities of ships do. Leander - 8 guns, Fiji and Edin, 12 guns, Neptune - 12 guns with 4.4 sec reload. So you also bring more damage, and bring it faster. That's why my average is on par/better then other cruisers. As for bounces. You tend to bounce some shots from DD's cause it's small, nimble. It's hard to aim and hit properly. There is no such problem with BB's, so you can pretty much hit exactly where you want. And, as expected, I have no problems with killing DD's, it's easy and enjoyable. AP chews through superstructures with easy, penetrate hull at pretty impressive angles. It's a matter of aiming, not AP ammo capabilities. Again, you totally miss the crucial point. Forget about how you did fight BB's up to this point. When you play other cruisers there is no way, apart from very selected few, to fire your guns and remain undetected. Therefore, if you fire on some BB, you instantly play his game. Cause he's fuckin better at shooting things then you are. And there are five of them, propably three on your flank, and all of them want your piece of [edited], cause you're the easiest piece to remove from the equation. Even with those much grieved HE and fires, you still play on their terms. With RN on the other hand, it is you who dictate how this thing will go. You find advantageous position, deploy smoke and start shooting. Oh, he angles? If he angles to you, he shows broadside to other dudes. And I already mentioned it. With different aiming you still get 2k per salvoe on average, on angled BB. To make it even worse, you can drop torps he's way and force him to avoid them, showing you broadside. If he continues to push toward your smoke, wait until he's 4 km from you, accelerate from smoke (and you do that insanely fast), so you already make 30 knots, so only gets one chance to kill you. Cause if he will just double cit you, you will heal. And he will just eat full salvo of 15k each torps. Which is almost a certain game over for him. But, what I mean, that when you drive a RN CL, it is you who dictate the rules of engagement. You can't be spotted, he propably will. You might, if there's a radar somewhere close, but it only add depth to the gameplay, cause you might put yourself in smoke, but in safe position only to bait out 25 - 40s radar. So, although it sounds weird, I actually prefer fighting BB's in RN cruisers, then in other nation ones. Apart from Zao of course.
-
Just a little point here. Actually, RN with their AP damage are a bit better suited for fighting BB's. Their damage can't be fully healed, as well as they're not prone to random citadels. If you get hitted, you will get citadelled. But since you got heal, that's not that terrible if you survive. Smoke and ambush tactics works better for RN then HE spamming is working on other cruisers, excluding Zao.
-
Indeed, they in fact play like a CL/DD hybrid. What I can't understand is why you can't have fun with that playstyle. With addition of RU cruisers we now have some kind of uniformity, especially on top tiers. Hindenburg and Zao play very much the same. Des Moines plays differently, and therefore it now suffers greatly from the meta. Mockba now plays more like a BB then a CA, but it's also a long range spammer. Like Hindenburg and Zao. Dimitri is nearly the same as Ibuki. Roon is different a bit, but mostly due to focus on AP ammo. I would like to avoid adding another similar line, that will have a very small difference. And so, now we have a Minotaur, which is completely different from anything. I'm finishing Neptune now, and it's super fun. It's dominating most of ships in it's vicinity, as long as you don't make a mistake. Because if you make a mistake = game over. For me, that's super fun! I', rewarded for smart play, for cunning play, for outwitting my opponent. I'm not rewarded because I choose to take Zao which plays itself. I don't get it. Maybe there need to be more vids when peps show how to play them? Maybe division with some "unicum" dude and watch him perform? Cause they are fun. They are much more fun then shitty RU cruisers or subpar US ones. I understand that, and also respect it. I'm also a patriot, but cmon, this is a game There is no need of "doing justice" to any ship, or people that sailed those ships, fought with them and died with them. Books and stories cover that well enough. Game is just for fun. I couldn't care less if Blyska was total crap in some obscure World of Warships game. I already read how great DD it was and how bravely it fought. And since WoWs is just a game, I just want to have fun in it. If I would find PL DD line (joking, but you get the idea) in WoWs to be utter crap/high skill ceiling, I would either not play it, or tried to learn it. There are a lot of "patriots" here, that refuse to put any effort into learning their "national" line. I mean, it's funny, but if I indeed were patriot, and someone would show me how well he perform in my nation line, I would try my best to master that line, even if one had limited time. And I would take pride and joy that my line is great, maybe greater then others, but you need to know your crapto perform. No random dude could play it and murder opposing team. And that's what I was talking about taking it a bit too serious. First of all, as you propably understand, forums are a place for what, 1% of all game users? So those statement's are a bit hollow and pointless. They only show an immature view of the game. Don't think I'm insulting you or anything, but, honestly, would you care if 1 in 1000 customers raged that your chocolate bar tastes differently from other chocolate bars? You get the idea I didn't like the idea that WG placed RU cruisers before RN ones. So I just didn't play them There were a lot of other ships to take.

I know it, and I kind of understand it. I don't argue to lower tiers are bad - I didn't play them, so I can't possibly know. I will explain myself maybe a bit. First of all, I don't give a damn about tier 1 - 5 gameplay wise. On that tiers people are still learning the game, so it's not fun enough for me to play them. Secondly, I've already made that mistake once - when GE cruisers hitted the servers. Lower tiers were flooded with tons of Dresdens, Kohlbergs and whatnot, and it was just mirror games all the way. I don't want to play mirror games. I wan't to play balanced MM where I can really see how the ship will perform vs it's counterparts, not 10 caledons and 2 nassaus, vs 9 caledons, and 3 dakotas. Third, I'm not particularly interested in those ships "historically". I've read tons of stories about higher tiers, and I always admired those ships. Fiji, Ajax, Edinbourgh - I've read stories about them, read about battles they participated in. I didn't read anything about Caledon (I might be ignorant, but since I'm Polish, and not some hardcore Brit, I think you forgive me) or Weymouth. I intend to play Danae but, like I said, later Because they're different! Because they offer differen't possibilities. If you just want to sail same ships but with different models, why not install some mod that will turn Aoba into Exeter? or Schors into Edinbourgh? Remember, I also like you and most of what you post, but I get a notion, that you take this much more seriously then you should. It's not THAT hard to make Edinbourgh or Fiji work. They are capable vessels. After one or two devastating strikes you know what you shouldn't do. I instantly fell in love with those ships. They are amazingly fun, supper trollish and insanely strong. What I do not get, is why peps are so obssessed with low tiers being rubbish (if they are indeed). The only real argument is that it might scare new players from the game. But! And that's a big but(t). Cruiser players are in minority. Who the hell cares about cruiser players. BB's are all that matters. Cruisers are for fanboys like me. Ok, I don't find them more difficult then Pensacola. I don't find them more difficult then Indianapolis. I don't find Leander more difficult then Nurnberg. And I try to be objective here, removing my experience from the equation. They tend to punish your mistakes much harder, but reward you with great results for good play. We do. I'm in a bit of a problem here. Cause on one hand, I agree with you. Line is hard, better for experienced players. It's a bit unfair for average players to have to struggle with those ships. But is it fair to give above average players another dull line in name of "we casuals just want to have fun"? Which one is more fair? We already have lines simple as sleeping - IJN one for example. Or RU, or GE BB's. So why not adding something that requires extra skill? I'm guessing you are more pissed off cause it is RN and you have issues with playing them, then the high skill ceiling vs low skill ceiling.

Soooo, I'm reading this, drown in salty tears, and then I go and check my Fiji stats. 89k average on tier VII cruiser. Not one is even close to that kind of number. Hell, my tier VIII's and IX's are struggling to reach those level's of firepower. I mean, take Schors for example. It's RU OP bias stronk navy cruiser right? And I played it quite recently. 82k average. Well, maybe Indianapolis, since I got so many games in US cruisers, it surely will perform better? 59k average. Aight, let's step up the game. Tier VIII's Atago: 62k Czapajew: 75k Hipper: 60k Kutuzov: 74k Mogami: 59k New Orleans: 51k and bonus clip: Edinbourgh: 77k So even against tier VIII's - Fiji seems to overperform them. Edinbourgh overperforms my other tier VIII's. Learn. Your. Cruisers.

So, a little feedback from me, after few more games. Bear in mind my observations are only for tier VI - VIII Gameplay: Overall - excellent. It's a mashup of three powerfull playstyles that we we're used to. Limited range and bad ballistics force you to play aggressively - similar to US cruisers. You perform typical roles, aggressive scouting due to excellent concealment. The very powerfull advantage is the accelaration of those vessels. It's insane. After the game starts you can zoom to favourable postion on par with DD's. Once you're there, you can either surprise an unsuspecting DD with few nice salvoes, or torp crucial point and pepper slower ships that still travels into position. Additional, if you are covered from main enemy fleet, and encounter a lone cruiser, you can sneak up on him due to excellent camo, open up with two - three devastating salvoes and then hid in smoke to finish him off, as long as it is spotted by someone else. This is the main advantage this line has over US cruisers - you don't have to rely on vanishing due to concealment after initial encounter, you can pop smoke and still deal damage/retreat if necessary. Powerfull AP, coupled with carefull aiming provides enough DPS, even on angled targets, that your damage becomes significant and numbers begin to mount up. Relying on AP ammo only is similar to GE cruisers. Although it's obviously a flaw, it is small enough to not cripple your damage potential. Although you need to know where to shoot, and that requires taking some time and experimenting with lead, both horizontal and vertical. Fast RoF is similar with RU cruisers. However, when they rely on HE damage coupled with fires, AP only on RN is a distinct difference and has it's own advantages. The mentioned cruisers demand different playstyle, a combination of DD cunning and CA/CL aggression, target prioritising and positioning. The last one is crucial! You need to plan your escape route, you need to know where you can speed up to remain undetected. Also, despite their fragility, RN cruisers are fairly good brawlers - insane acceleration enables dodging manouvers and great concealment allow you to vanish when needed. Smoke is great, and well balanced with only 7 seconds of deployment. Weaknesses Fragility and prone to receive massive damage from well placed AP salvo. That one is the biggest flaw of those vessels. Although I only were so hardly punished three times, it can make their games uneven. It's a bit RNG. I bounced few salvoes when extremely angled, and received 20k hits when extremely angled, no rule here. Broadside is of course out of the question. AP ammo falls off when the target is angled. You still can get decent hits if the target has superstructures you can damage. Nagato, Bismarcks, Schars, Amagis and NC's all have pretty massive superstructures. So you need to aim ABOVE frontal, rear turrets. Shells will omit the extreme armour and chew through more penetrable areas. I usually deal around 1.5 - 3k per salvoe, although it's inconsistent. I might do 1000 with 3 salvoes each, only to follow with 4k salvo on the same area cause shells hitted better modules. Range and ballistics also hinders the performance - ballistics mean hitting DD's above 10 km range is very hard. Range means it's pretty easy to move out of our damage zone and we will have to relocate, or rely on our team to finish off targets we could end, but we lack range. It shows especially in Leander. Leander also has a bit of problems damage wise with only 8 guns. However excellent torpedoes seem to even up the potential. Advantages Insane "troll" factor. You can annoy your enemies so much it's hilarious. Find an island. Lob shells over it. Force your opponent to take risky manouver by closing up on you. Pop smoke and continue to frustrate him while sending torps his way. Be wary of radars though. If you see radar cruiser going your way, position yourself in smoke so you can immediately bail out. Great camo values. With 15 points captain your Edinbourgh will be spotted from 9 km. You can stealth fire from around 13.5 km. You can stealth torp. You can ambush even heavy cruiser due to positioning yourself as to be targeting full broadsided opponent. Until he realises what's happening you will have the upper hand. You can either tank on front (you might still receive a massive hit from 203 mm guns), or pop smoke and proceed with humiliating your opponent. Damage wise - if enemy is showing you broadside we're looking at 5k salvoes each. Damage racks very high in small windows, so be sure to aim properly as to not miss you opportunity. Your damage is substantially increased with any torpedo hits. Torpedoes are reasonably fast, very hard hitting, and have both decent drop arc, as well as great reload. Fighting against a CA or DD is made much easier with improved heal. You can get back to fighting shape in one activation, a very powerfull tool. Summary: Very different cruisers then those that exist now. However, both Fiji and Edinbourgh both feel insanely strong. I got BETTER results in them then on Czapajew and Schors, and in both RU cruisers I'm top 10 in WR and damage. Win rate is rather less important due to low number of games, but average damage is higher, despite no HE and fire combo on BB's. Learn them. Take your time, it's so fuckin worth it, you wouldn't believe.

They're decent DD hunters, but both RU and IJN CA's do it better. US CA's also do it better, but they suffer from return fire. They're okayish DD hunters. They are just a good hunters overall. That's what making them so much fun. They are like a freakin commandos of WoWs.
