Rozmowy z wodzem: Polowanie na Grafa Spee
Greyshark replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in Wiadomości i komunikaty
Znowu ci wredni Brytyjczycy napadli na jakiś okręt? -
I agree, statistics is very complex science, and just because we see 11.000 Puerto Ricos or 300 new accounts doesn't mean the game is healty. It might be, it might be not; we can't tell as we don't see the full picture. Neither we can't say that game is dying, because 2 of our friends left it after 10 battles. Yes, exactly like this. Entertainment is a very personal thing, and it means very different things to every person. Although it looks pretty obvious, judging by how many people on this forum is trying to teach others what should be entertaining for them, or insulting others for their way of having fun, apparently it isn't.

Yes, the same movie as the same game. Something like „wow, WoWs is so frustrating, terrible MM, sealclubbers/noobs everywhwere, I can’t last 5 minutes in battle, HE/torpedo spam - I can’t wait to play it tomorrow again!” There is an example of OP: his friends left because game was frustrating for them, didn’t stay playing enjoying the frustration. About buying ships yes, it can be true: if you don’t like one ship, give another one a chance, maybe it will be better. But how many ships average player will buy out of frustration? 50-60 or rather 5-10 and then quit? Is it enough to make a game and a developer succesful? I don’t think so, the game must offer entertainment, not frustration. Well, I have heard of games which turned out to be unsucceful because they were not good enough; never heard of any game which failed due to not being frustrating enough.

LOL So coming from country which was a Russian colony in last century, you are Russian as well? Or your parents are? Or perhaps companies founded there between 1945-1989 are Russian? Interesting logic. I can’t say much about new generation, so probably you are right. I’m just hard time to understand, why would I (or any other person) spend my free time and my money on something very frustrating, which is supposed to be an entertainment, a moment of relax after work. I just can’t imagine, for example, people going out of cinema saying „what a terrible movie is was, let’s go tomorrow to watch it again!”, or playing frustrating game and spending money in it, when there is much more other ways to relax. If I decide to spend time and money on WoWs, it’s because I like it, not because it’s frustrating to me.

Your theories about frustrating clients willing to pay more shows that you know a lot indeed. My respect sir.
-
You wouldn’t call Volkswagen a Mexican company just because some of it’s cars are produced in Mexico, would you?
-
The game doesn’t live of money coming from new players buying one premium ship and then quit, it exists and grows because of people who pays on regular basis. Well, seems you know very little about life then. WG isn’t a Russian company.
-
So what you are saying, is that the more frustrated client is, the more money spends on the frustrating product? Wow, that’s very revolutionary marketing theory, usually at any marketing/managment classes teachers says otherwise... I must be very weird then, because I would never pay, especially on regular basis, for any product which is causing frustration to me.
-
Aren’t those things related? I mean, the more pleasant the experience is, the more money people are willing to throw into it?

Pr event appears to be a success for WG
Greyshark replied to Fat_Maniac's topic in General Discussion
For example me. I don’t have time to be connected every day, I work and travel a lot, I knew I won’t be able to complete all directives, so I have just bought PR. If you prefer to belive your clueless assupmtions over the hard numbers, feel free to do that. Everybody can belive in whatever he wants to belive. -

Oh, so you didn’t realise that connected players number is not the same as total players number? You didn’t think, that it’s not like every player is connected every day, at the same time? That for example 10000 players connected in the morning are totally different people than those connected at evening or at night? Really? Stating something based only on your own assumptions, without having real clue about this doesn’t really make your statement very valuable. -

Where did you find the total number of players on each server? -

Yeah, if the facts don’t fit the theory, change/argue the facts. Basic rule of every discussion. -

Maplesyrup doesn’t show how many players have a ship, but how many of them played with that ship, in this case during last two weeks. So obviously the numbers are lower than on proships, as that site shows owned ships. Take a look at Eastern Dragon - do you think that there is only 1 player on whole EU server who have that ship? Besides, maplesyrup shows that some players played with ships that are no longer in game, like Taiho or Hiryu. That tells something about reliability of that site, doesn’t it? -
New Ship. Australian Bush Fire Appeal
Greyshark replied to Rhineheart_Thor's topic in General Discussion
Basically what you want is that gaming company use lot of resources to develop and launch a ship, and do that work for free. You don’t do anything, you just buy a ship if you want to. My question is: if you really want to help Australia, why don’t you donate some money to any fundraising company dedicated to help the Ozzie’s? Helping someone without getting anything in return (a virtual ship in this case) doesn’t sound that attractive to you? -
New Ship. Australian Bush Fire Appeal
Greyshark replied to Rhineheart_Thor's topic in General Discussion
You should fix the title, there were no bush fires in Austria as far as I know... About donations, as Egolether said. There are many fundraising organizations already, everyone interested can donate there, no need to involve WG in this. -
Pr event appears to be a success for WG
Greyshark replied to Fat_Maniac's topic in General Discussion
Not really. It beats other ships as well. On EU more people have Puerto Rico than Henri IV, Daring, Yueyang, Khabarovsk, Grozovoi, Harugumo, Venezia and Z-52, not to mention CVs and other special ships. So yeah, definitely a disaster for WG. BTW, numbers are growing, it’s 11466 now on EU. -

So we have almost 94k battles on EU by proships vs 59k by wows stats? Yeah, sounds like one of those sites, or both, are not very reliable... -

Greyshark replied to Fat_Maniac's topic in General Discussion
I don’t know. But if something smells fishy, that would mean the stats sites are not reliables at all. I have PR, played over hundred battles in her, but my stats are not included there because of private profile. So the real numbers are higher that those sites show. -

Battles played only on the EU server: so no, the reddit guy didn’t get battles played instead of numbers owned.
