Just. Dont. Play. It. Alone. I know a lot of people dont want to wait for a team to assemble or would welcome a general better experience for everyone created by WG, but there are just some kinds of players, that would not even manage to finish the operation when they recieve electrical shocks as warning to exit. Since Narai is dead, most people in the operations channel play Aegis, due to fastest mission with good XP grind. Over time you manage to identify some active and capable Friendos for playing operations. Much more relaxing and useful when using special signals or grinding, than trying to play with randoms.

What do former WoT players think of WoWs?
Nov_A replied to HassenderZerhacker's topic in General Discussion
Played 50k unicum games in WoT, switched when WG reset/restored my WoT account because they are too dumb, distinguishing a WoWs ticket with multiple mentions of World of Warships from a WoT one. As an apology I got 3 bonuscodes for personal reserves, only one of them was working. Now my account is bugged, displaying no values on 95% of my tanks, but only the battle count. What to play for than E-PeePee, when you have unlocked everything, including every reward tank. /rant Better than WoT: - Battles are mostly 12v12, not 15v15. More personal influence on a positive and negative level. - Way better economy, grinding is much easier, be it XP, Free-XP or credits. - Specialized class features and roles, way less hybrids crossing the lines of classes. - Reasonable crew/captain grind, 19p captain is done relatively quickly, try getting a 8 or 9 skill crew in WoT. - Transfering crew between premium ships has no class penalties, easier grind, more worth per premium ship. - Game is much slower and feels more tactical, teamplay is needed and encouraged by class differences. - Daily rewards, personal campaigns and coal/steel system. Non-existent or beyond RNG-madness in WoT. - Community is way less toxic and aggressive. - OP's and Co-Op if you just want to play. - Official weeb stuff - Honking As bad as WoT: - The playerbase seems generally on the same level of missing basic human understanding. - WG's greed for your money - Russian BIA's on regular ships/vehicles but especially bad on rewards. - Teambalance and Roflstomps are still happening on the same level of frustration. - CV's or arty, pick your poison. Too much influence on one, too much annoyance and personal player harassment on the other. Worse than WoT: - Learning the game is made beyond difficult, thanks to triple CV in lowtiers and being bad/out of place in higher tiers. - Much less players, resulting in strange matchups, long loading times, low clan population and competitive scene. - Game is slowly becoming more and more like WoT.- 51 replies

I got so mad, I had to post in the forum. -
Most has already been said, IJN carriers have more potential but are also more difficult to play. USN is okay overall, RN is generally a no-no. The only exception seems to be the Ark Royal, the slow and flimsy planes get compensated with faster restoration, biggest and highest torp strike and more bombs on their carpet bombers, making them literal a literal shotgun against DDs. Best CV available in the Shop is Kaga, as Enterprise is not on sale anymore. Saipan and GZ are playable as well, a lot of people manage to make them work (me not included). It is just that compared to all the others, they drag behind. I had horrible experience in randoms with GZ, but she did really well in the 1v1 T8 ranked.

Not really interested in the weeb aspect but the missions seem quite reasonable for the amount of "free" premium ships you get, especially since you can farm Narai for the XP with daylies. Should be doable in 2 Weeks, some flags and "meh" motiviation for the game.

Directive 3 done and like 80% of the daily missions. No sheep.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

Came across @ColonelPete in an earlier game today. Sadly my team ignored the C cap and got horribly crossfired on B, we lost really bad. -
Friendly Fire- why still present in game?
Nov_A replied to _Conan_Librarian_'s topic in General Discussion
Because it is a teamplay aspect. It forces you to be aware of your surroundings, your positioning and is a simple lesson of consequences for your actions, be it on purpose or by accident. Removing FF would just be another step towards a flashy ship shooting game, diminishing tactical aspects for situational, personal player experience. They removed it in WoT due to "toxicity reasons" in random games, it is still active in competitive modes. WG also removed the enemy chat in WoT years ago due to the same reasons. A large part of the playerbase was just constantly harrasing other people, be it by ramming, shooting or verbal abuse. Obviously this fired back on the customer support and WG reduced the complaints by just removing the system entirely. I did not like it in WoT and would not like to see it happen here.- 41 replies

Getting overrun, or overrunning the other team....
Nov_A replied to RamboCras's topic in General Discussion
Cant complain since I started focusing on T6, rather than T4 and T8. The obvious steamrolls from both sides happen, but most of the time I can actually say that the game is getting played with a bit of a back and forth, no team is really at a constant advantage, at least with my limited experience to judge games. Even when the games are one-sided, they still drag out to 10-15 minutes of actual gameplay. It is okay in total, but the specific landslide games are still very frustrating, even on the winning side. -
Newport is really bad with randoms or multiple people that dont know what do. I played it a few times to test out a T6 when it was available and to get the full reward, but overall Narai is the much better option for grinding. If you are interested in having a few successful runs or just get the 5 stars, check out the ingame channel for operations. They mostly play Narai because of previously mentioned reasons, but sometimes you also find a competent team, willing to help. For Newport itself, stay inside the bay area as a BB and make your salvos on enemy cruisers count. A competent CV will provide constant spots on approaching enemies, until the Izumo shows up. Cruisers main job is HE spam Izumo in range, counter DDs and like the CV on regular targets, slowing them down with torps. (Bots try to dodge hard and will change their course). The most difficult part in the OP is to not let bots enter the coastal area and the most time groups fail because cruisers dont manage their HP and either die or need to retreat out of effective range for repairs. For CV, provide spots on the spawn locations and pick off low HP targets that are close to enter. Turn faster ships off their course with torps, forcing them to broadside and delay their approach. As soon as Izumo appears, start setting fires and floods, until she gets into range of your cruisers.

Also saw him a few days ago in a group of friendos playing T5, I was in the opposite team. -
T3 to T5, unusual times or low player count online. Had a game like that yesterday, did 60k dmg and got a high caliber. Nothing that strange, once I had a 3v3 during night times. 1 CV, 1 BB and 1 DD. T4 is an absolute mess.

Used the tokens from the directive, 4 tries - no sheep. I was not even disappointed because not only am I not interested in those ships, I also was not expecting any or had some kind of attitude of deserving one by RNG. It is free, it is nice to have, thats about it for me. I will surely finish the directives by regular activity, if I could wish for a ship, it would be the T7 to finish the specific missions in Narai and get everything from the event, without additional effort.

wrong ship purchased by another family member
Nov_A replied to Earthglade's topic in General Discussion
Probably no chance, especially since battles got played with it. Customer support is often very tolerant with restoring wrong purchases (as long it can be restored) from the armory or a current example, wrong boxes bought. Yet they only did it for unopened boxes and unplayed ships. Try a ticket, but as already mentioned, I dont think this is going to work. -

People dropping Missouris and here I am, sitting on a stack of Zulu flags. Had a daily resource container that turned out to be a SC, also two SCs from the personal campaigns. -

[Poll]: How many Directives (0-7) will you be able to finish in WoWs v0.8.11 (Christmas / New Year) ?
Nov_A replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Same. My goal was playing as much as I like and hopefully get the Gorizia to do some additional missions for containers and the free T6 with her. For the PR grind I never expected to get the ship, I don't even want it. My goal is the mega crate and 3 days of additional premium, everything above is just nice to have.- 83 replies

WG clearly dont get role of CV in naval warfare
Nov_A replied to _Conan_Librarian_'s topic in General Discussion
But there are fighters on T6 and up. They are just a bit useless and don't really provide cover. -
I did not like her at the start but after a few games she is actually pretty enjoyable and manages to keep up well.

Need some help for optimal CV commander skills

brb reskilling 95% of my Captains -
To get a bit back on topic, due to some WG shenanigans I played on my other account as a new player, mostly BBs like Ishizuchi and Scharnhorst. Realizing I was not really fit for higher tiers I kept on T4, playing around with some nationally different BBs. It was quite fun, had some guys taking me by the hand and teaching me the game, but it went downhill fast with the massive increase of CVs and that phase of multiple Karlsruhe bots per side. (Not WG-Bots, real bot accounts in randoms) The games were no fun and quite unbearable, so I switched to T5 and T6 but the game constantly told me I was missing basics because in most ships above T4 I got whacked. It was really frustrating because I actually wanted to learn the game, watched tutorials, streams, asked in the forum, etc. but in the end I was trapped in this cycle of either learning it the hard way in thousands of higher tier battles, or enduring the pain in T4. After 50'000 games in WoT I was definetly not up for that and the final straw was a free Kaga from the "Fly, Strike & Win" event. She was fun to play in Co-Op and as the wallet walls were already broken I bought an Enterprise on my original account. Sometimes I played here, sometimes on the other account but in the end I decided for myself that playing CV was much more fun and I would keep going on there. Sure, it is kind of cheeky to say T4 meta is bad because of the CVs - and then play them myself. But I can absolutely relate if other players, be they good, bad or whatever do the same. The game has a big learning curve and the current meta for beginners does its best to make it as painful as possible. Some skip by money, others endure - and some just switch to CVs.
-
From the weeb captains I only have the free Azuma and Hood, both more on the pleasent side of listening to. Some of the others seriously tend to be a bit annoying or distracting from what I heard in the voice settings and streams/vids.
-
I have a super silly one, a CV with no torpedo bombers, a bit faster planes and a steel deck.
