The sinking of HMS Hood by Bismarck
SV_Kompresor replied to daantje8's topic in Age of Armour Warships
Yes I've watched that video before.....it's really sad that the pride of the navy was sunken so quickly......I wonder what would happen if all of PoW's turrets were operational -

Nice....it's always good to know more about history
-
It's a really nice ship ....it was probably really hard to notice in the dark

Well , I managed to make one :teethhappy: It floated on styrofoam.....It used propeller (propeller on air) to move forward and backward and a spinning piece of plastic for turning. It looked ridiculous but it worked (oh yes and I do have a RJ speedboat.....it's a bit pitty that it's not a battleship though)

This ship is simply bad a$$

I don't know why but Aurora will always be the most beautiful name.... for everything

Achyluss, on 29 November 2013 - 04:08 PM, said: seems the looks are unimportant , the difference is really its defined role : Frigate is a name which has been used for several distinct types of warships at different times. It has referred to a variety of ship roles and sizes. From the 18th century, it referred to a ship smaller and faster than a ship-of-the-line, used for patrolling and escort work rather than fighting fleet actions. In modern military terminology, the definition of a frigate is a warship intended to protect other warships and merchant marine ships and as anti-submarine warfare (ASW) combatants for amphibious expeditionary forces, underway replenishment groups, and merchant convoys. In naval terminology, a destroyer is a fast and maneuverable yet long-endurance warship intended to escort larger vessels in a fleet or battle group and defend them against smaller, short-range attackers (originally torpedo boats, later submarines and aircraft). At the beginning of the 21st century, destroyers are the heaviest surface combatant vessels in general use. Modern destroyers are equivalent in tonnage but drastically superior in firepower to cruisers of the World War II era, capable of carrying nuclear missiles able to destroy cities in a very small volley. I said that it just looks like one , not that it is one.....(which in my personal opinion is awesome).... It's a beautiful ship
