    You mean you clubbed three BBs with your Bliska? That's almost as impressive as wiping your own a*s like a big boy. Here's the point of the stealth fire nerf... After it happens, saying the following: "I was alone with one DD versus three BBs and I won!" will be just as impressive as it sounds, or rather more impressive than: "I shot and burned three BBs to death that could neither see or catch up to me, and had no chance to beat me whatsoever." Did you do it while playing with one hand? Because that would make it borderline impressive then... Nice. Taking things out of context and distorting them to compare me to random whiner tomato must help you with your Edited FYI, I use stealth shooting all the time. That's how I know it's broken.   3. CVs also spot DDs and DD torpedoes, and the better CVs even often try to murder DDs thus actually helping the BBs. So the issue is a bit more complex than your post would indicate. I love RPF defenders, I really do. Their number one arguments these days are: "You see, that skill didn't really break the game..." or even better: "That skill is useless. There are much better skills available..." If there are much better skills available then why have in the game in the first place? And if the skill is useless then why am I locked every battle? And why does that Flamu person do so well with it? And FYI, most of us fans of skill-based game play never actually said that RPF would end the world as we know it. We just said that it was a useless skill for most players and a one that negates a certain aspect of the game during certain situations in battle. As for trying to counter BB overpopulation with economy nerfs, I would say NO to that... People play BBs for two reasons: 1. Up to tier 8, they are the easiest class to play 2. People like big ships with big guns Nobody plays BBs because of their massive XP and credit gains, therefore nerfing the economy of these ships would not discourage people from playing them. It's not anecdotal evidence. There has been a lot of DD heavy games lately. And it has already been explained to you that, in this game, we have this thing called the Matchmaker which balances the ship classes. Is BB overpopulation really a problem? Perhaps. But it is definitely not an in-battle sort of a problem. I would rather see WG focus on issues that effect game play directly, like those OP secondaries on Bismarcks, or the fact that most Battleships on the middle tiers now turn as good as cruisers.

    SF was a core mechanic...which then raises the question why Wargaming even thought that it was ever okay for ships to have their shooting detectability higher or lower than their gun range?! That's what I don't get... Yes, because clearly this Sub_Octavian person has all the markings of a true genius.

    In what game? Warships? US DDs are the best to go and contest the caps since they have almost the same camo as the Japanese and can rape them from close range. IJN DDs, on the other hand, are best suited to stay the hell away from the caps... Actually, some DD players are posting that as well. And yes, smoke shooting will be the next skill-less and tarded mechanic to vanish from the game. It is inevitable.

    He believes that Shima's in battle efficiency is all over the map because it is a high skill ship and average players fail to get good results. He is wrong, and also incredibly stupid. The reason why Shima's stats are all over the place is precisely because: - Firstly, it greatly depends on MM, meaning a CV in the battle can screw you up big time, not just by spotting your torps but by taking you out completely since you turn like a mule and have weak AA and no AA consumable like the US DDs. And also, if the MM throws you into a DD heavy game or Radar CA heavy game (such as 4-5 DDs or 2-3 radars per side) your efficiency is once again greatly decreased. - Secondly, it is predominately a torpedo boat which means it also depends greatly on the level of competence of enemy BB players and, sometimes, even on dumb luck. Personally, I think the Shima is one of the most imbalanced ships in the game. A great player in a Snimakaze that gets a BB heavy game with no CV and a relatively low number of opposing DDs and Radars can Roflstomp the entire team with torpedoes. Subsequently, if that same player in that same Shimakaze gets a DD heavy game with a CV player that has half a brain he will likely be the most useless ship on the team... So the Shima is definitely not fine...

    mtm78 is like the general advocate for all things that require low skill. His most played ship is the Nikolai you know... First of all, learn to edit your text so that I don't have to get an epileptic seizure when I try to read your post... Secondly, yes, the game's player base is stagnating, and NO, that's not because Wargaming forgot to put torpedoes on what is already the most broken ship on tier 7. The player base isn't growing because the game play is largely based on low skill mechanics and one click consumables... So, more skill based fun and tactical depth is needed for this game to maintain and grow its player base.

    That's theory. But what he's saying is that in practice one can spec for HE spam using range modules and certain skills (IFHE and Demolition), and then with little to no skill achieve similar or even better results (depending on the fire-RNG mood of the day) than a better player who's playing close support and switching between HE and AP just like he should... Nothing motivates players to get better and play properly with such easily exploitable low skill mechanics in the game.

    Amen and hallelujah to this... I've seen cruisers and DDs camping lately just as much as BBs if not more. You have DDs spamming HE and torps from long range, you have CAs speccing with "long range upgrade" to spam from 17-18km. And none of it is the player's fault. The current game dynamic of "getting close to enemy = getting smoked by tarded mechanics" is actually forcing people to spec for long range and play leech mode all day long. It has to stop. Removing stealth shooting is a good start. Now also remove smoke shooting, Radar over 10km, nerf BB gun range by 15%, and make fires into a skill based mechanic (something like consecutive hits on same part of ship = increased chance for fires while occasional pot shots from 16km = extremely low chance of fire). Also make standard AP hits for medium caliber guns MORE DAMAGING while reducing citadel hit damage by 30%. Gracias.

    Yes, that's exactly what I meant. No true naval enthusiast would be interested in BBs since they were all mostly useless in the naval sense. Huge naval calamities one and all, I would dare say. With that said, Bismarck sank the Hood, Yamato roughed up a few DDs with secondaires, and Tirpitz was the boogeyman of the British sailors. Hood was just utterly useless. They should have scrapped them all and made more DDs.

    If all the BBs are "camping", then you have a free shot at the caps. You can then obliterate enemy DDs and cap all three points. Easy win... As for the article, it was mildly amusing. But I do have to say that if the insinuation is that win rate is ALL skill that's not really true. Padding in the most "optimal ship" in the low and mid tiers can be used to inflate stats over the player's actual skill level...

    I think this Forum is going to be epic when the RN BBs are released. BB players: "British BBs too weak! Adamantium armor doesn't encompass the superstructure which then gets penned sometimes, my guns only score 3 citadels per salvo from 25km, and my SAMs need a good three seconds to shoot down all the planes coming my way!" Anti-BB players: "OMFG, why don't you give those RN BBs tactical nukes while you're at it!" British players: "Well, historically, the greatest BBs of the greatest navy in the World did have the option to call in for a nuclear strike! But if WG ever implemented this, then some Russian ships would get killed, and we can't have that, can we? So much Russian bias in this game. Oh well, back to doing 150k per battle by sitting in smoke with my Minotaur I guess..."
  17. Removing manual drop on tiers 4 and 5 is just a stop gap measure until we get that proper CV rework. And, honestly, I'm fine with it since it will reduce newb bashing of new players.

    Actually, lately there's about 4-5 DDs per game on tiers 9-10 so there's hardly any shortage of tin cans. Sadly, so much US and VMF DDs also makes IJN DDs kind of unplayable.

    The only thing that's worse than hordes of Bebes opening posts like: "Torpedoes OP, and also nerf fires..." is the anti Bebes opening posts like: "OMG, they just changed the lighting effects on Shards so that the bluish hue would compliment the camos of US BBs! OMFG, so much Bebe pandering in this game!!!!111" I, for one, plan to use as many derogatory terms as possible while mocking both those groups of players.

    And, after you take down your target, you will instantly become unspotted if there's nothing else in your gun range. So no more of that "people that I can't even shoot are still shooting at me thing".

    Or you can do what I do, and use Gearing's guns to obliterate other DDs from close range. Killing enemy DDs = unopposed caps = Winning

    So, to sum up. Childish derogatory terms used in Forum arguments = BAD Childish theories about the entire game being balanced to favor just one part of the player base = OK (again, only as long as you don't use childish derogatory terms)

    It happens to me as well. Sometimes I go into the cap and it seems like the entire enemy team is focus firing at my sorry a*s while my team is 10 km behind the cap watching dolphins play. It does get discouraging and I also sometimes say to myself: "To hell with the objectives, I'll just farm some damages now..." But I always keep coming back to the caps. I must like winning more than I hate getting rekt, I guess. With that said, game mechanics that are unappealing or don't make sense should be removed, despite of what it does to the meta. Wargaming can always counter BB camping with other methods. Now that a lot of the BB player base is running concealment builds, maybe a nerf to the general gun range could change things up a bit, especially on those faster or cloakier BBs who don't really need it.

    People keep forgetting that this patch actually improves certain Russian and German DDs who's current shooting detectability actually dips WAY OVER their effective gun range.

    I am decisively against any sort of "firing" that requires zero skill. So, yeah, I am against stealth firing too.
