A bit worried about the population

You really think that WoT EU started with 300k active players?

Stats are irrelevant at this point because low number of battles/imbalances. But still... 51% WR? 1,79 KDR? Even my damage is better considering you play higher tiers... Learn to read numbers please.

A bit worried about the population

You are all overthinking it. It's the middle of the summer. People are vacationing it really a lot atm. 30-40k is more than WoWP ever had. EVE online, a popular space MMO has EU population that rarely goes over 30k. I expect that when WoWS establishes itself the population should be around 60-70k.

  6. ...that when you see a carrier roflstomp, you're all "OMG WHY?!" No, I don't play CVs. I just like them really a lot. One could say that I have a carrier fetish, if one was a bit kinky. I've noticed that in these parts a lot of people don't like carriers, giving these beautiful behemoths such lovely epithets as "sky cancer" and demanding that CVs get "nerfed" or "removed from game..." I have a name for these people, nothing offensive, I just call them NOT Alpha testers. You see, the NOT Alpha testers, unlike us YES Alpha testers, have not witnessed WoWS gameplay that is completely void of aircraft carriers. While most of the people who oppose CVs would probably imagine such game play as some serene nirvana in which battleships and cruisers could calmly exchange gunfire and not worry about the sudden onset of torpedoes delivered from whatever nameless bomber squadron, I, having seen it firsthand, simply know better. WoWS game play with carriers out of the equation was, quite simply put, kind of meh. Just try to imagine the following: Firstly, at the start of every battle all the ships scatter all over the map, turning the battle at hand into a series of isolated duels which entail a great deal of unnecessarily prolonged maneuvers. Once those isolated duels come to their inevitable conclusion, the winning parties from one team begin to scan the map to find the winning parties of the other team. Now, at this point we enter a period known as "the long voyage". It's basically one big chunk of the battle during which absolutely nothing is happening. You just glare at a bunch of friendly ships as they travel to the last known location of the enemy ships. Of course, there are always a few of those strong-willed individuals who don't think much of the minimap and would much rather "go toward some meaningless island over there" because the voices in their feeble minded heads tell them so. So even if the bulk of the two teams would meet before the battle timer ran out in order to resolve their differences over a cup of coffee and a few high explosive shells, the game would still end in a draw because of some BB beached on a remote island somewhere. Of course, there were also situations in which battles ended in a definitive way practically at the start. Some overzealous DD would usually sneak into your cap whilst you were casually steering toward the enemy formations. Most players would turn around toward the cap immediately only to realize half way there that they had no chance of reaching the cap in time. And so the battle ended, giving out a rich bounty of two-digit XP rewards to all the parties involved, including that base capturing DD. But the most special battles by far were those were entire teams set course toward opposing sides of the map so that by the time they finally found each other, the battle's timer was practically all timed out. Here, have another draw. I had 15% draws in Alpha, and the worst part was the fact that even those battles in which I won or lost could be just as frustrating. And then we finally got carriers. A lot of people remember only the bad things that a carrier did to them. Like that one time when they get beached on an island, and a two full squadrons of torpedo bombers appeared to give them a nudge with their remote controlled super water thrusters, you know, the ones that were oddly projectile shaped and instead of giving your BB a nudge made it go boom boom... Or that one time that some CV decided to bomb your cruiser and set it on fire right after you had used your magical scroll of super fast repair-iness . Most human mammals are like that, they just remember the bad. No one remembers that time that a carrier bombed and killed that BB which was just about to kill one's already half dead cruiser, or the time when a CV's squadron spotted an enemy DD just as he was about to torp your ship and then proceeded to chase him away, or that time when a squadron of fighters showed up to fend off a herd of torpedo bombers that were heading your way... So I'm gonna talk a bit about all the good stuff that carriers do for us every battle, about all the useful stuff that their presence brings. Firstly, carriers dish out a LOT of damage. Ha, you thought this was a bad thing, right? Am I right? I am right, aren't I? Please say something FFS! Stop feeding my deep seeded insecurities! What?! I am not a virgin! AM NOT! I HAZ GIRLFRIENDS! LOTS of them! What? Wait, what did I say?! Never mind. Let's just move on. *cough* Let's talk about why carriers doing lots of damage is a good thing. Firstly, let's take a look at what CVs mostly target with their squadrons: 1. Isolated and quite blatantly stupid BBs - juicy snacks for both CV and DD players alike, these lumbering and drooling imbeciles honestly deserve to get sunk as their further presence in the battle can only be a hindrance to the normal battle flow. 2. Other CVs - if you really hate carriers so much than you will appreciate the fact that your own carrier is the most efficient anti-CV tool. 3. People who like to beach themselves on islands - ups, I kind of messed up there. Oh well, at least I get to look at those pretty planes doing figure eights above my ship...mhmm explodyyyy... And yes, when the three groups listed above are not present, carriers will just go for anything. And they will still do lots of damage. And that's a good thing because everything in WoWS has shittones of HP and that's why carriers are there to push things along, to keep things dynamic and fast paced rather than slow and constipated. Here are other useful things that carriers do: - Carriers use their planes to scout and spot enemy ships, most notably cloaked DDs, thus making the game more dynamic and lively. With a more dependable input regarding the location of enemy ships, you can make tactical decisions just by glancing at the minimap, instead of playing cat and mouse games. They also limit the movement range of DDs and effectively reduce torp spam... - Carriers can reset cap whores. Those battles that you lost because of just one enemy cruiser/DD that had sneaked into your cap when you weren't paying attention? Your carrier can bomb him to oblivion and thus prevent an unsatisfying loss just when you started winning. - Carriers promote TEAMWORK by forcing people to think about AA cover and things of that sort. There is a reason why most animals travel in herds. It is easier to avoid predators that way. Carriers as the ultimate predators will inspire teamwork even in the most antisocial of WoWS players. This is important because it prevents draws due to over-scattering of ships. - Carriers add much needed tactical depth to the game... Without carriers WoWS is basically a game in which you just aimlessly drift around and exchange volley after volley with your chosen foe. Without carriers you don't have to think about tactical formations, or situation awareness, or anything but your next shot. You might think this is interesting but trust me when I tell you that sort of a thing gets tedious in no time at all. - Carriers also add to the skill curve by separating the good players from the target fixation stricken dweebs, they prevent draws and static game play, they murder those WoT clowns that think they can "hide behind big rock just like with my heavy tonk.", they prevent that "long voyage" thing from Alpha I've talked about earlier, because with planes in the air there's always something to think about and be mindful of. CARRIERS MAKE WOWS A BETTER GAME! And no, we can't nerf them (much). Why, you ask? Have you ever played a carrier? Carrier game play in WoWS can best be described as playing a crappy bird's eye view naval RTS made in the year of our lord 1998. The only joy that you get from playing the carrier is exactly the ability to dominate matches and make an inherently larger contribution to the battle than any other class ever could. We don't have enough carriers as is, because carrier game play is so generally unappealing, so if we nerf carriers (too much), we might expect exactly no one to want to play carriers anymore, and no, that's not a good thing. Without carriers, this game would suck. I know that because I've already played that particular game. Gracias.
  7. You misunderstood me. I don't mind the spotting system itself, I just find the blinking annoying and counterintuitive. Doesn't matter. Ev1n has said that they might change that blinking into something like a gradual fading or whatnot. As a fellow Minekaze player I can tell you that the Minekaze at tier 5 has the fastest torps in the entire DD tree, it has the best camo/speed values in the entire tech tree, has extremely good and accurate guns (disregarding the turret turning speed) etc.. It is overpowered, not terribly so, but it is. It needs a slight camo nerf and perhaps a downgrade of torp speed from 68 knots to say 60. As for the Cleveland - IT IS THE MOST OVERPOWERED SHIP IN THE GAME AND IN IT EVEN THE BIGGEST IMBECIL CAN KILL STUFF! It has crazy a*s DPM, batsh*t crazy accuracy, murderous AA, decent speed and agility, unusually resistant modules etc... Honestly, I think it belongs on tier 8 of a second US light cruiser line. It just doesn't fit in with Pensacola which will lose 8/10 duels against it, winning out only when it can land a few lucky citadel shots. I generally think that quite a few US crusiers need to have their DPM reduced.
  8. I would also like to add that the reason why CVs seem a bit too strong in the lower tiers isn't entirely because of "weak AA" as some would suggest. It is because the new players on the lower tiers are clueless in terms of assembling anti air formations or dodging incoming torps.
  9. I regularly team kill mouth breathing imbeciles in US and Japanese cruisers that spam 5 km torps at targets 12 km away and only manage to kill or annoy their own teammates. Yesterday I was raging at the cruisers in my team that were blind spamming their short range torps practically from our cap when a DD on the enemy team suddenly died. The Omaha in the enemy team got a -1 so you get the picture. Personally, I think we as the community should take it upon ourselves to eliminating these motherfu*kers at the start of the battle for several reasons, most important of which is education. You see, by torping such buffons, we are also demonstrating to them the proper way to use topedoes.
  10. DD in smoke. It blinks. And it's stupid. There should be a minimum of 10 seconds before you can re-cloak. You know, like tanks have in WoT.

    Stop comparing WOT to WOWS

My current WN8 in WoT is 2516 after around 23k battles. And now that we know that my opinion is worth more than everybody else's....*drum roll* Aaaaand, I agree with Mister_Greek about pretty much everything. Especially about the part where he says that WoT and WoWS are two incomparable games. Just because someone's good in say BF4, doesn't meant that that same person has some keener insight into every other online game out there, like Minecraft for example. @Naskoni - I don't know what your problem is exactly but I think you have some growing up to do. FYI, not that it matters, but Mister_Greek's stats of 1361 WN8 after around 5k matches is quite above average for a new player and since that 5-10k battles point is where you start to linearly improve your game, I'm sure that if Greek had played another 20k matches like that arty dweeb from WoT he would have likely had unicum stats as well. So as far e-peen measuring goes, you're wrong as well. In fact, you seem to be wrong about everything and everyone. So maybe you should pipe down and have yourself a zen moment.
  12. To be perfectly honest, the DD blinking thing is kind of annoying. They should change that mechanic me thinks.
  13. I really can't blame you. How could you not fall deeply in love with such a big and manly blob of cynicism, condescension and mockery? God, I'm sexy.
  14. DDs are competitive in the higher tiers, they're just not overpowered anymore. That's what's confusing you. Cleveland not OP?! Seriously? Mkay....
  15. Splitting hairs. 95% of the Mini players don't have the T5 skill yet. I am one of them.
  16. AnuSuaraj

Cleveland AA is way Op needs a nerf ASAP

Cleveland is generally overpowered in every regard and belongs on tier 7 instead of 6. So honestly debating whether or not its AA is OP is beside the point.
  17. In my opinion, while DDs in the higher tiers might be more difficult to play mostly due to unbalanced cruisers and CVs, there's nothing more to master than the lower tier DDs. You still do the same exact thing, try to line up torp shots from the edge of your detectability range and pray that enemies don't turn much. Yes, you get spotted more in the higher tiers because maps don't scale much and carriers have a lot more squadrons, but there's no new skills that you could acquire to compensate for that fact. If some CV wants to spot. I personally play DDs the most for one simple reason, and that's the fact that unlike most CL and BBs, you can roam the map while staying unspotted and have a liberty of movement that cruisers and battleships can only dream about. But honestly, DDs are easy to play and once you figure out how and when to go for the torp spread and duel enemy DDs, there's really not much else to learn. CV are similar to DDs in this regard while cruisers and battleships have a much longer skill curve. I call Bs on that. Without smoke, even DDs with skills maxed out will get spotted at around 5,8 km which means you weren't paying attention. Yesterday, a tier 5 Minekaze was trying to kill my tier 4 Arkansas for most of the battle. He did not land a single hit on me and I never allowed him to close enough distance to rush me. He did hinder me from doing enough damage during the battle but I did the same to him. Besides my team is partly to blame for ignoring that DD for most of the battle. My point is that what you are doing is the equivalent of a heavy tank player in WoT whining about getting circled to death by an enemy light tank. If you allowed yourself to get into a position where that light tank can circle and shoot you, with your team being utterly unable to help you, then this is partly your's and partly your team's fault for playing poorly. And you should get killed in those situations.
  18. I agree with most of what you said. My opinion on how the BBs should be rebalanced: - give BBs secondaries that shoot at minimum of 5 km and are at least 20% accurate - give BBs highest gun range than any other class of the same tier - scale back HE caused fires My opinion on how DDs should be rebalanced: - surface spotting distance of 6,5 km for even the stealthiest of DDs unless smoke is popped - also readjust the minimum spotting distance (distance at which a ship gets spotted no matter the line of sight - like the proxy spot in tanks) from the current 2 km to 4 km regardless of smoke, terrain or anything else . - remove or nerf the speed of the 533m Type 92 torpedoes used by the Isokaze and the Minekaze (those torps are 68 knots fast which is faster than the tier 10 torps!). My opinion on how CVs should be rebalanced: - increase the arming distance for all torpedoes - increase AA strength on lower tiers My opinion on how CA should be rebalanced: - remove the Cleveland - nerf the Omaha - slightly buff the Furutaka - slightly nerf gun accuracy and range on higher tier cruisers

    BB's make torpedos OP

Clearly you've never heard of sarcasm...

    I'm done with WarGamming

World of Warplanes Rest in Peace 2012. - 2015. Mourned by a bunch of inept devs who thought it was a good idea to balance a flight game toward the mentally challenged.
  21. AnuSuaraj

    BB's make torpedos OP

No, no, no. I play my BB and get hit by torps all time. I cannot turn because torps too fast! Also, torps are not supposed to kill BBs because BBs is made of stronk steel. In history no BB every sink to torpedo. This is all WG propaganda. Torps are OP! Carriers and DDs too! Nerf pls!

    Woespite

I can't comment on the Warspite but I will say that national balancing sucks ballz. Saying that a whole line of ships has to such and such because WG has decided to make all Japanese/US/GBR ships in the same manner is freaking tarded. So US BBs will have shorter range than IJN BBs because nations...And it is seems British BBs will suffer the same fate. Just balance each ship INDIVIDUALLY YOU LAZY FU*KING DEVS. Also, ALL BBs should have similar ranges and ALWAYS out range freaking cruisers.
  23. AnuSuaraj

    Too many draws

We had 12-15% of draws in Alpha, but now it's down to 5-6%. So I would call that progress. Most of the credit goes to carriers and the domination mode. Also, I keep repeating myself about that valid statistical sample size thing. When we all have 1000+ battles than we can compare our fondness for draws.
  24. You see, this is what I'm talking about. IF YOU KNOW the destroyer is there? Can you see the team lists? Are there destroyers on the enemy team? Are you spotted? If the answer to all these questions is YES, then just assume the destroyer is there, shift your rudder a bit here and there so that when those torpedoes "appear out of thin air" they just harmlessly slide a mile behind you or a mile in front of you. After that just continue doing whatever the fu*k you want for the next thirty seconds while the DD reloads, and then shift your rudder again. And you won't get hit. It's that fu*king easy.
  25. AnuSuaraj

This is why nation roles don't work.

National balancing is stupid and also one of the things that ruined WoWP. I support this thread. Death to national balancing!
