No, we don't. We don't need depth in fathoms, range in miles, sea range in nautical miles, altitude in feet, and distance in yards. What we need is for countries that are still using that obsolescent and ridiculous measurements system to switch to metric and never look back...

Nerfing Bismarck Sonar wont make it any less Overpowered.

Again, if I may, WHERE DID YOU GUYS HEAR THAT THE SONAR IS GETTING REMOVED ON BISMARCK? -

The range of those ridiculous secondaries needs to be nerfed too. Also, where did you hear that the Sonar is getting removed? -
Public Test 060 tomorrow - new skills - without Keen Intuition...
AnuSuaraj replied to Smeggo's topic in General Discussion
You're kidding me, right? The tactic that this new game mechanic is trying to dispose off is called simply "DDs torping and killing BBs." That's what's going on. And the implementation of this skill will hit Japanese DDs the hardest since their only purpose in life right now is exactly that - stealthy torp runs on distracted battleships. And worse yet, this skill will greatly promote poor DD gameplay, i.e. torping from max range and second line launching like a total dweeb instead of skilfully sneaking in at that sweet 6-8 km range to dowse the target with a tighter spread. It's yet another game mechanic that simply flattens out the skill curve and makes the difference between a bad and good DD player harder to read. Also, I have to laugh at how WG first nerfed the range of all torpedoes and then made close range torping impossible. Like I've already said, now they might as well remove all torpedoes from the game... -

I was talking about Gneis and Bismarck in terms of turning ability. High tier stuff doesn't need turn rate when they have hydro. And also, Japanese DDs suck on higher tiers. Belfasts can actually alternate between hydro and radar and are impossible to sneak up to. Long lances are OP! That is all! -
Public Test 060 tomorrow - new skills - without Keen Intuition...
AnuSuaraj replied to Smeggo's topic in General Discussion
Just to quickly dish out my two cents on the subject... First, I've been playing since Alpha, all classes but mostly Japanese DDs and ever since the Alpha I had been complaining that the line was unbalanced because it was too strong in the low mid tier, balanced it the high mid tier, and then unbalanced again in the high tiers where Japanese DDs kind of stop making sense. The sequencing of events since release has been pretty much as follows: First, slight nerf to spotting distance for Isokaze and Minekaze which was USELESS because the problem was actually with their torpedoes. Then, while I'm scratching my head as to why WG hasn't yet figured out that 68 knot torps that do 17k damage might be a bit too strong for tiers 4 and 5, I see Kamikaze and Fujin come out. BUY THEM people! Come on! It's OP Minekaze with premium credit making potential! And unlike the regular stuff they won't ever get nerfed because the name of the game is clearly pay2win. And then we'll just add a second line of Japanese DDs and pretend it's not actually a massive nerf to the entire line. This time the tier 4 and 5 torpedoes got nerfed. Finally. And also the HE shells. And the spotting distance for the second time. Seriously, every single patch, line and new ships introduced in this last year was basically a huge F U to Japanese DDs. - CV nerf/Battleship AA buff - Who do the CVs go for now? What turns slow, has no AA, and can get killed with only two torps or three bomber squadrons? That's right. F U Japanese DDs. - Buff to US DD spotting distance - What can no longer engage US DDs at long range and use superior gun accuracy? What can no longer cap comfortably because superior stealth? That's right. F U Japanese DDs. - Implement Russian DDs - DDs with rape guns that are faster than what? That's right! F U Japanese DDs. - Spotting planes for everyone - And what do planes spot most often? Torpedoes! Yay! F U Japanese DDs. - New German line - Large ships that turn on a dime, have rape secondaries, and even sonar on high tiers? That's right. F U Japanese DDs. - New British CAs - They have smoke, sonar and torps of their own. And Premium Belfast has radar too! F U Japanese DDs. - Japanese DD line split AKA nerf to spotting range, HE shells and mid tier torps. F U Japanese DDs. - New tier 9 Premium that shhh! It isn't really a Premium - It has radar and better secondaries! That's right! F U Japanese DDs. - German DDs - Big DDs with huge guns and sonar - F U Japanese DDs. You know, since Japanese DDs are exclusively designed to murder potato BBs AKA the hardest whining BBs, I'm not really shocked by all the screwing over that's going on around these parts. But what I don't understand is how - HOW - the hell can you implement this crutch mechanic for dweebs known as the Keen Radio Triangulation skill. Seriously. So now, with my Japanese DD to torp an actual Battleship I have to: 1. Avoid all other DDs that aren't Japanese. (German, Russian, Murican) 2. Stay at 11,6 kilometers from Russian Radar CAs and at 9,6 kilometers from Murican and British radar CAs and BBs at all times. 3. Stay at 6 km from Bismarck, Grosse and Kurfurst, and all the Japanese sonar CAs. 4. Don't even think about going to caps because US DDs can spot me a just a couple hundred meters (translate to two to three seconds) after I spot them 5. Pray that there is no CV in game or if there is, that he is either stupid or blind. 6. Not only avoid planes above every cruiser and battleship in the game but also time all my torp strikes so that the plane fails to spot the actual torpedoes. And if I do all that I get the pleasure of watching my intended target change his course or speed a little bit to screw me over completely. But that's not all folks! With update 6.0, after I risk it all by going in to the edge of my detectability range for those super tight torp spreads (as all the better DD players do), I also get to: - get chased down by faster Murican or Russian DDs that have Radio Triangulated my sorry behind - get laughed out in the chat by some motor skill impaired potato drooling along in his New Mexico. Something in the lines of: "Haha! I know you're there silly DD! Now watch me dodge them torps in slow motion. " - get totally screwed over by good players in divisions that will actually use this skill on their fast CA. - get radar-ed by every radar ship that will be using this skill in combo with that consumable (again, everyone with half a brain) - get sonar-ed by every sonar ship that will now be using this skill in combo with that consumable (again, everyone with half a brain) I mean, seriously, why don't you just remove the Japanese DDs from the game, remove all HE shells from cruisers, make the CVs lose all of their squadrons at the mere sight of a BB, and just rename the game to World of Stronk Battleships, and then be freaking done with it? The few players that are still online after that will then surely go play Patrol Boat Mayhem in Warthunder and Wargaming can have another ghost game like WoWP. There's a game that was killed with beautiful crutch mechanics... And FYI, for all them ST-s in this thread asking us to "Try the skill out and give feedback..." We don't need to try out the in game skill, since our RL deductive reasoning skill is telling us that this will completely CHANGE THE FREAKING META OF THE ENTIRE GAME FOR THE WORSE. I think there's already enough of "push this one button, click this one thing, and pick this one skill..." crutch mechanics for imbeciles in the game. Enough is enough.- 527 replies

I see that there is a special discount on equipment, but I also see that there is no way to say buy 10 Concealment System Mods without first having ships to put them on, right?
-
If lots of intelligent people are whining about something, then yes, it might be credible. But there aren't lots of people complaining about torpedoes. It's just you at the moment. Lots of people are actually complaining about torpedoes being too weak right now. So dwell on that for a second.

We're not toxic. We've just heard this same story way too many times. BB player gets raked with torpedoes because he wasn't paying attention and then he comes to the Forum to demand "realism", but only for that one game mechanic that's caused him to get obliterated in game. You never once asked for realism in terms of not having torpedo markers or even getting torpedo warnings. You never once asked for realism in terms of your BB getting damaged beyond repair after taking on just one torpedo hit. So you're only asking for realism that would compensate for your lack of skill in game. BBs are at this time by far the easiest class to play in game FYI.
-
I actually agree with the OP. I want realistic torpedoes too. Having to score 4+ torpedo hits on a ship in order to kill is simply too much hard work. Rupturing the hull with just a single hit and taking all of the BBaby's hitpoints would be pretty sweet. Yes. Definitely more realism in torpedoes. Also, BB guns should overheat after ten shots and lose accuracy. And every ship in the game should move 50% slower. Mhmm. Realism. My torpedoes really like it.

Completely new play style? You mean like using your Keen Intuition skill? And when that "keen" arrow doesn't seem to be pointed at the nearest spotted ship, one can so easily deduce that there is a DD nearby and press one button... Wow. Such skill, much radar. Premiums need a unique feature? But they already have one called "being better than regular ships". And Radar was supposed to be a unique feature for CAs. But I guess it's not so unique anymore. Newbs will get sunk? Such prophetic statements belong in the New Yorker me thinks. Ehrm. Never mind.

Yep, they've clearly "adjusted" the chance to get super containers. My first 25 draws had brought me six super containers (500 dubloons, 5 mil credits twice, 10 mil credits, 100k Free XP, and 250 speed flags) and, after that last patch, I opened another 30+ containers for ZERO super containers. And these were all "Try your luck." containers which allegedly have a better chance for an SC. I'm mildly disappointed.

Honestly, I like the fact that I can fork out an occasional citadel from 20km+, especially while I'm slowly crawling toward the cap. And, generally, I think that short range BBs are somewhat unsatisfying to play because you just spend most of your time trying to close range with ships that are faster than you, and this can sometimes lead to feeling slightly...ehrm...impotent. Just play the stock Fuso and then come back with "Nerf BB range..." I double dare you. German Battleships are overpowered, no ifs, buts, or maybes there. Bismarck with the secondaries skilled up is like playing a BB that has an equal tier cruiser strapped to its hull. And practically every German BB is the best BB on its tier (except maybe on tier 10) because every German BB has great AA, great secondaries, great armor and guns. And they're fast too, so it's no wonder that 80% of the Battleships playing at the moment are flying the German colors. The Germans are bound to be nerfed, but I don't think that they're the reason for passive BBs. I think passive players are the single most relevant cause of passive BBs, and I think there's no viable cure for that yet. If there was then I would be seeing those "But...but...I'm a TD!" players in World of Tanks. Campers will camp. And trying to thwart camping through game mechanics can be a double edged sword, since WG usually likes to promote aggressive gameplay by making predictably cluttered chokepoint maps.

Upcoming Captain Skill Changes (Leak)

They're nerfing IJN DDs again btw. They're nerfing all of their HE values across the board. And somehow I get this odd feeling that they're only nerfing the HE so that that new Akizuki thing wouldn't be OP. No, seriously, with these kinds of devs you have to ask yourself such silly questions. -
But the money grabbing in this game is priceless. It might even kill it at one point. We can't put a premium ship on tier 9? Oh well, let's just make it so that people have to spend around 30k dubloons for regular to free XP conversion. And voila, the first tier 9 premium in the WG universe. Worried about stealthy DDs torping you? Just light up your radar! Worried about cruisers moving in to HE? No worries, here's AP that pens angled cruisers and secondaries that rape from all angles. Worried about planes? You shouldn't. You have almost regular Iowa AA. My god. Does money grabbing in this game know no bounds? Well, I for one am not paying one cent till they implement a DD that deflects radar, launches 90 knot torpedoes that have "OMG why are there torpedoes spawning 10 meters off my bow" kind of detectability, and takes down planes with OP DD to air missiles...

OMFG! RADAR on FREAKING BBs now? The line has been crossed. I would recommend a boycott at this point.

Upcoming Captain Skill Changes (Leak)

Instant gratification is indeed the anthem and modus operandi of this new Facebook generation, or as I like to call it, the JUST GIVEZ ME EVERYTHING NOW; WHY YOU MAKE ME WAIT AND WORK FOR IT?!! generation... I think we're going to need Trump to make World of Warships great again. Oh, so I now get a 20% larger smoke screen that can be completely neutralized by a radar cruiser from 11,3 km. That's swell. That way my grave site will have that eery fog feel to it. -

Hallelujah and Amen. There is another game which they ruined with those some crutch mechanics. Can't turn well? Here, have auto flaps. Can't aim well? Here, have some homing shells. Can't read map? Don't worry, we'll make map smaller. That game today is an empty wasteland called World of Warplanes. -
Upcoming Captain Skill Changes (Leak)
AnuSuaraj replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
The worst part is that they're effectively removing SKILL from the game by adding these Darwinian perks. Why would you use your brain and try to figure out where the enemy is and where they might go next. Instead just use the antithesis of Jack Sparrow's magical compass that just points you to the thing that you don't want to be torpedoed by the most. And I'm not going to even talk about such skills as FIERY TAKEOFF, where apparently instead of attending to the fire, the deck crews move away so that planes can rush through couple thousand degree hot gasoline fireballs. Or skills that magically accelerate torpedoes or magically add penetration to your shells, sometime in mid flight I reckon. This game really wants to go the way of World of Warplanes. Seriously. -
Both Kagero and Fubuki are good DDs. They just suck when you try to aggro cap or duel US DDs.

Upcoming Captain Skill Changes (Leak)
AnuSuaraj replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Okay. So let me get this straight.... First, I have to work my bottom off on the caps and wipe out the enemy DDs just to get a chance to torpedo something. Then, I have to dance around carrier planes and pick out a target that doesn't have its own plane circling about. Then, I have too move in REALLY CLOSE like 6-7km close to my target so that I could launch my accelerated torpedos (which I have to accelerate because torp detectability sucks and can be made even suckier with that special BB skill) And then I have to pray that my target is distracted enough to actually not change course or speed and get hit by one of my torpedoes. And NOW, WE, THE FREAKING FUCKTARDS AT WARGAMING, have wisely decided to add the KEEN INTUITION skill aka that little arrow that will always freaking point to the cloaked DD trying to torp you... Beautiful, just beautiful. Where's the uninstall button again. Oh, there it is. Also, I would suggest a name change to World of Retardo Battleships just for the sake of authenticity. -
Actually, not even that. US DD going for that same cap will spot you about two seconds after you spot it, and will then proceed to drain your HP away just under thirty seconds flat. One of my friends despises the Fubuki with every fiber of his being.

What are the consequence of too many "plays poorly" reports?
AnuSuaraj replied to Hikaru_Shigeru's topic in Newcomers' Section
Actually...I remember one guy opening a thread just after release, claiming that he'd received a 24 hour ban for "playing poorly". So the report system does work, but I think it's only active if your karma is at zero, as to insure that no decent player gets banned for messing up just one game. This is still mostly careful speculation though.
