OP, you're in a similar place to where I was with your game count (although I didn't play DD's much at the time). 'What am I doing wrong that I can improve on to be better' is a very good mindset - me, I go out and get splatted too often (I play too many ships at the same time and for most you can't translate the tactics between them, which is what I have to improve on), You, you have a slightly worse win rate than I do, but higher performance rating, so you do more in each battle than I do, but perhaps not in a way that wins as much - the first thing I tell myself when driving DD's or CA/CL's is 'stay alive for as long as possible' as they are both very fragile ships and easily sunk... usually I am decent at that, but then it is a case of, 'ok, I'm alive, what can I do to help the team win' - I've only recently started watching youtube vids on how to play and they (mainly Flamu) have given me some great insights on what I have been doing wrong,it's now a case of 'can I actually put those into practice'. time will tell. But at the end of the day, if you have ships that you enjoy playing, play them, it is still a great game (for all its faults) and stats only matter if you let them. You've had a bad run, that will end, the sun will still rise every day and you will go on improving your understanding of how to play and the ships that you drive. Your confidence has been knocked back, play some more and it will come back as you will get better. Bon voyage.

I was curious over how premium ships compared to silver ships, so indulged my curiosity via the Warships.today website - yes I know that that is not a '100% data inclusive' summary, but ought to be a reasonable approximation. To say that the result surprised me, would be an understatement. Out of the top 30 ships by win rate, only 3 are silver ships and one of those has been withdrawn due to OP'ness (Kamikaze, T5 IJN DD) - https://eu.warships.today/vehicles Now the Flint and Black, to a degree are to be expected, reward ships given out to consistently good players (yes it is possible to 'grind' the flint if you have the perseverance).. Also of interest, is that all 7 of the USN CV's are in the bottom performing 19 ships (IJN CV's are in the upper top half). Note that this is by win rate, so is not a universally accepted metric, but remains a reasonably decent measure. I came here from WoT where the approach used to be 'premiums have training advantages and or credit credit grinding', but generally were worse than their same tier silver ships (when maxed). Have WG totally ditched this approach, or has it never been in place for WoWS. It would appear that it has never been in place and yes, you can buy the best ships (agreed that there is the odd exception).

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
philjd replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
for the record.. He :) Unlucky, more like a lack of brain cells moment - how many torpedo's can I walk into at the start of a match.... not my proudest moment. Well done Ferry for clawing back the victory especially as it was your first time out in that ship. -
Submarines confirmed in testing! (4-torp salvo) Also, new balance details for carriers! (they might get BB armor) See the video here!

The USS Atlanta needs a rework + stats comparison for all T7 cruisers
philjd replied to dayofmone's topic in General Discussion
Extremely jealous of those stats, well played- I love/hate the ship and certainly cannot get consistent results from her(me driving her). ____________________________ OP - very nice piece of analysis. My views, as an average player of lolanta - when she works, she works well, extremely well. But for most players that is a fairly rare event. I seriously applaud players who can get her to perform well overall as she is balanced as the ultimate shotgun with buckshot glasscannon. If I were to change anything, I would improve the cammo value, (but not Flints) as she is not fast enough to escape anything. -

But Rheged was included..... which encompasses what we now know as Cumbria (Cumberland et al) and also parts of southern scotland. but that is a by the by - still no Yorkshire [makes a nice change to have some fun nonsense on the forum] Do you mean Seahouses... Bamburgh... Whitley Bay.... Whitburn.... Craster....lots of choices... (from a small village close to Hexham myself. Stocksfield, although moved away some time back, still slowly transitioning into a southern sh@te but resisting strongly). -

Strange.. I see no Yorkshire -
Atago is a superb ship - fragile, fast, fairly nimble, superb guns, but slow reload and sneaky. My advice, don't just rely on the HE, her AP is very good - cruisers, not a problem, broadside BB's - AP, you can even get citadels on quite a number of them. Kiting and stealth are your friends, as is the heal. 50% health is not enough to face a BB if you have to show broadside :) Torps are situational, if the opportunity presents itself and it is safe to try, then yes, they are very good, if it is not safe to use them, then you are likely to die trying to use them.

Probably numerous threads on this already but just saw this ingame

It's a supertester playing the new Tier 1 Russian BB.... [fantastic find though OP] -
When I first started playing CV's (still don't have much time in them) I couldn't figure out how to do a manual drop (UI is rubbish on that score) and when people kept talking about 'alt' attacks, it took me far too long to understand that they were speaking about using the 'alt' key to actually do a manual attack (and no, none of the videos I watched specifically mentioned use of the alt key either). [In my defense. I have never played those first person games where different key combo's give you different attack types so the connection just wasn't there]

Anyone else think this is getting alittle boring?

Actually, you could 'Leagues' Standard - all players start here and remain here until they have clocked up at least 1k games (figure plucked from the depths of my anatomy) Advanced - if a player has played the 1k games AND their global [insert performance measure here] is above [insert required standard here] then they join this League. Expert - if a players performance in Advanced League is above [insert performance measure here] then they are promoted to this league. A player would drop a league level if their performance measure in that league drops below [expected performance minus X%]. If there are not enough players in the game queue to fill a match, then MM pulls a player/players up from the lower league. Co-Op mode would not be available to those it he Expert league. You could set the performance measure as a simple, if win rate is 56% or better in that league then you get promoted (would need a minimum number of games set). If it was 46% or worse then you get demoted. Not difficult in concept, "just" a programming issue and then the discussions over what measure and what level would begin, which would be the more sensitive topic :) You would also need enough depth of player numbers in each League to make them viable across all ship tiers. [Just a thought really and I am trying to quit smoking so no fag packet to write it all down on] -
It'll be in someone's pending tray....

No, no one has pointed that out thank you for the correction - The 'R' and Fujin I know, the Kamikaze I thought was the T5 they removed when the revamp/split went through. If not, then my memory was defunct, but that means that only 2 of the top 30 are silver ships...

I read, prepare, present, interpret etc numbers all day and every day, so I do know 'how' to read numbers and when to back away from anything of substance on them. So please, try reading my original post again.

I agree it is a game - but it is based loosely around reality (the ballistics, movements, ships and their equipment). But WG are having enough problems getting CV's to work as a balanced class without adding another totally different type of ship class with all of the baggage that comes with that. It is just a touch frustrating that (some) people do not seem to know enough to understand what the connection between tactical naval combat and submarines is, which is that there is none. people want a pure 'game' that has no basis in reality, well there are plenty out there already.

Are you guys forgetting that some waters can look green? :)

HMS Dreadnought remains the only BB to sink a hostile submarine IIRC (ramming speed!)

Guys, quick question on the Graff Zeppelin HE dive bombers please - does manual drop make a difference to how they perform? (They seem to be very effective at attacking DD's).
-
Neither of which involved surface combat. Phillipines - CV battle, long range, neither fleet came even close to the other. Cressy/Hogue/Abukir - again, patrolling, not in combat. See my earlier post - there has only EVER been 1 attempt at a mixed surface/submarine tactical combat, Helligoland Bight in WW1, the result of which was that no Navy ever attempted it again (to date).

Please god no......

Quick question on GZ usage please:- When using the HE bombs v's DD's, what, if any, difference does it make to use manual drop? (Those Stuka's seem to be deadly against my DD's no matter how much weaving I do).
