    British Destroyers and more Events

They did indeed control the ground - the Kwantung army was a mess of politics and it showed in the Nomonhan battles. Common sense reigned in the end as not worth it. (Saved a lot of lives that way :) ). But the Russian casualty statistics were, until relatively recently, total bull (the Japanese fought very well). (Closed Russian archive information pieced together after they were made available).

    British Destroyers and more Events

Not quite right - the Japanese at Nohmehom (sic) fought very well and effectively against the Soviets. Russian propaganda should only go so far, as should the putting down the 'yellow peril'.... Also the Kwantung army was more or less untouched all the way through to 1945 (that is the Japanese forces in mainland China/Manchuria).
  3. The internet.... (and yes, the pointy haired twerp is not your usual inspiration :) )

    Sunray in the Darkness ?

Admittedly, I should have said - 'my understanding was that' going from other threads on the same issue... but, see ichase's video of the same thing during which he states that the gate closure clock does not show correctly in replays.
  5. I have had 3 containers so far... and three T3 cammo's (for ships I have played through and not kept.... I don't keep <T6 unless premium ships). Still;, hope for the other 2 stars...fingers crossed.
  6. Do you have the replay.. and who won?! :) Would make a good comparison to the OP's twitch stream.

    Sunray in the Darkness ?

The Gorgon can only die after the gateway is closed, so it cannot be killed prior to that point. Adding to the above comments, only 3 stars for me so far, it is great fun, but a good CV player helps hugely, providing they remember that they can heal the team as well as attack 'stuff'....
  8. Sorry OP, I guess you came to the forums looking for agreement and sympathy.... 1) regardless of context that was never going to happen unless it was v's WoWs/WG 2) You misread the situation in respect of clan wars (nothing wrong with 7dd's or 7 CA's as long as the chosen mix only contains a maximum of 1 BB). It's up to you guys to adapt to the opponent once they are known, not for you to chose your opponent.

    So... WoWS has lore now

No disrespect intended. I seriously doubt that an arcade game can have a valid 'context' for anything, regardless of how 'realistic' it tries to be - this game tries to balance everything it can to make it 'fair' to both sides. Overlaying some form of 'lore' over that invention would be... irrelevant, IMO as it is a purely tactical encounter, at best, with no outcome of any significance... For the 'real' ships in game, whenever you take them out, there is, for me at least, some form of 'connection' to the actual ships that ventured out for their 99% boredom, 1% panic moments. I've also done a fair amount of strategic level wargaming so even most of the paper ships have been part of the 'what if' scenarios that evolved or were a part of that. AIGF. Phil

    So... WoWS has lore now

Naval history has no actual lore... wow. Why invent stuff when it's already splattered around in a huge volume of literature, media etc? I like the halloween and similar events because it is a 'break' from the actual 'lore' I sort of get where you are coming from in that it would be ...nice (?) to have, say, factions in the game, fictional countries for example, that a player chose and then 'fought for' - but that is what clan wars tries to emulate really? But that sort of distorts the main theme of this game, IMO.
  11. That doesn't seem very rare to me... 1 in 6 chance is much much higher than say a supercontainer :)
  12. I suspect that they end early in the morning so that server resets, updates etc can still be done without necessarily having the extra load of ongoing missions etc included. (Makes life easier for their IT department).

CV UI Feedback & Class Missions

Fully support this - but it would need to be a graphics option as I suspect it would be death to quite a number of lower spec'd machines.

    Supertest fire duration changes

Leander does (as does Emerald @ T5).
  15. Good to see you guys in the fight - not an exciting battle for me by any means, but survived and we won. Saw the 'discussion' over the 'friendly' torps in the chat :)

    Musashi? are you joking WG?

The only reason that the Mikasa is in the game - so that our Russian friends can sink her over and over again :) (Just kidding).

    if you can't fix it

Wow.... just...wow. I don't have any activsion games thank heavens.

    Water splashes and aiming

Here you go:- This is Bismarck being fired on by KGV and Rodney. Always remember that it is not just the weight of the shell that matters, but the amount of energy it has when it hits the water.
  19. Superb find - ty. I do wonder who's 'friendly' CV 'intruded' into the fight though.... :)

    Water splashes and aiming

This :) Yes, it can be a PIA at times, but what the hell, it brings more life into the game :)

Belfast - To keep or to sell ?

Personally, I am not a fan of selling premium ships, even if they were not over performing ones - they are still trainer ships. I dislike my Cambletown intensely, but still take her out occasionally as she does provide that extra captain xp for the first win etc.

    Historical Links Exchange

I am going to add this one:- http://www.gwpda.org/naval/n0000000.htm Which is totally WW1 focused but with a lot of original documentation around the naval war (the section linked) and also all other aspects of it. (A seriously good source of 'stuff')

Why is there no AA below t6?

Yup, lots of pointers to the future, which are very easy to see from where we sit. But even if they had seen, few governments were willing to spend on defence matters in the 20's, the 30's they had other priorities, but then the run up to WW2 did see improvements to both naval attack aircraft and also ship defences against the same. It might have been slightly different if the planned attack at the end of WW1 against the HSF by aircraft (only) had actually gone ahead, but the war ended before it could be implemented. Who knows. But more lives saved by the end of that war than BB/BC crew lost to aircraft (however sad and/or 'misguided' those deaths were).

Why is there no AA below t6?

Never forget that there was 2 years of WW2 before a capital ship was sunk at sea by aircraft, during which time a LOT of BB's/BC's were attacked by aircraft and NONE were sunk. (But regular militaries that are not fighting a first class opponent tend to be, to be frank, rubbish at predicting the future of warfare). The criticisms of Mitchels test were perfectly valid (static target and no defence against the attack) for that demonstration. This is offset by the totally unrealistic expectations of AAA prior to proximity fuses and RFC.

    Large ammount of AFK players?

One small correction - if you are a late loader (counts down to zero but doesn't connect to the battle) and restart your client in order to actually get into the battle, when you do finally get in, your turrets are not in the disconnected orientation, but forward pointing (or as far forward as they can be in the time taken to rejoin, depending on ship). So not AFK, just restarting. I've had a few (quite a lot actually) of those over the last couple of months, but not for a couple of weeks (fingers crossed).
