    Ships in Harbor

I'd like to have all my ships visible in port, with only the one currently selected in the dry dock :)
  2. I agree totally comrade, until her who must be obeyed appears in the doorway and tells me otherwise. ;)

    mixing tiers

Personally, while it would be 'nice' to only have same tier (or +/-1) it is a good place to learn caution and patience :)
  4. My wife, your wife [?].. and all the other wives :)
  5. I know that the mantra is - if you don't have the time don't hit the battle button' as it is unfair on the rest of the team, but we all have lives, partners, family etc who can and occasionally do chuck a spanner into our best intentions. Did the guy say why?
  6. That's a pretty good reason. Ta.

    What statistics tell?

This I like very much - the numbers themselves do not matter if you know 'why' they are what they are. :) (the rest was good also, just in case ;) )

    What statistics tell?

Nice summation. Out of interest, what would you class as a high KpB?

    CV player skill is polarized

Speaking as a hobbyist CV player, more than a real CV driver... :- Just unlocked Ryujo yesterday, after not having played cv's for quite some time, thought to myself, ok, I will play an operation in Independence which I unlocked ages ago then try 'her' in a random before using the Ryujo. Had my [edited]handed back to me so damn quickly by the opposing Inde/Ryujo (was a double CV match) that i was actually stunned by how ineffectual I was. Haven't driven another CV again yet. (I have Kaga, Saipan and Enterprise in my port, all since early last year, but not driven any of them yet as I know that I am out of practice and, if I'm honest, I am now questioning whether I can actually perform in them - not the youngest player by any means, although not near to be being the oldest either, closer to the latter though :) But CV's require speed of mind, eye and hand that only grows with the number of squads in the air and the speed at which they fly. These things are much less critical with other ship types, still important, but not as critical). Confidence knocked, very much so, will I get up again, yes, but much more practice needed before I risk randoms again. (Never mind competitive).

Convince me to go Soviet DDs

    Concealment isn't bad either

Convince me to go Soviet DDs

Soviet DD's are like the ultimate kiting machines, just keep blatting away and hope that your kiting keeps you safe from hostile intentions as the torps are very short ranged up to the T8's (Leningrad/Gremy excluded).

    What statistics tell?

No one disagrees with the 'fact' that you will get the occasional game where, regardless of how good 'you' are, you will not win due to the actions (or lack of) by the other team members. But, over a large number of games those situations will be evenly spread out over all players, so become a built in factor for all statistics, hence irrelevant. We have all had those, it is the actual overall results that are important, not individual games, regardless of whether those games are good or bad.

weird, I didn't.... although I will double /triple check this when I get home tonight as I did check before posting. Edit - wrong, they are there.

    What statistics tell?

Mine as a comparison (overall/last 21 days):- Survival - 31%/40% Main battery - 32% Torp - 6% Spotting - 1.85/1.55 I will also chuck these in. Average damage - 37.8k/46.1k Average Tier played - 6.0/7.4 You have a better survival rate than I have in both measures although we have both 'improved' that - I know that I am too aggressive and am consciously trying to dial that back. As mentioned, yes you can do the glorious sacrifice for the team, which is worth it in some situations, but on balance, the longer you are alive and being effective the better. Main battery accuracy - I hit more than you do, but that may be because of differing classes played - cruisers have good accuracy, BB's not so, plus it is also linked to aggressive play (close up and personal combat). Torps - people tend to shoot off in area denial/speculative, plus they are also fairly hard to hit with. No idea what is good, but previous poster stated that even the best do not get past 10%, so that may be a good objective to try for. Spotting - shows me being aggressive and also DD use with a small measure of CV (very small) XP - I have ignored this, as it does include apparently premium account bonus, so is not a level playing field. Average damage (and average tier) - a lot of people use this for comparison/performance purposes - but it is very dependent upon what tiers you play. So for me, although my average damage has risen by a startling 22% over the last 3 weeks, actually, with the higher average tiers played I am actually not achieving more relative damage, so have I improved at all? :) At this point, I will chuck in the winrate, overall is 55.8%, but for the last 21 days it is 63.3% for 200 games. So, the cynic says that it's a lucky streak (a very large one!) but the positive argument is that although I am not doing more damage, the damage that I am doing is more effective in helping the win. I like stats analysis also :)
  17. Am I the only one who follows this thread out of interest/amusement but also with a touch of trepidation? ;)

Ok, no, you do not get duplicate Captains like in the ARP campaigns. Edit - wrong, indeed, yes you do.

    CV as support class

The problem with that is that if you want to play a naval game with no CV's, or ineffectual ones only, then the latest you can do is probably 1930 (aircraft capabilities and doctrine made CV's more scouting orientated and not strike). Realistically, do you think that would be a viable game for a games company to invest serious money to make. You want battleships, the era starts 1905, no cv's at all. then ends roughly 1918. So a WW1 era naval game, well that would probably work with naval enthusiasts, but not necessarily a wider audience (that is purely speculative on my behalf).

    CV as support class

So does that mean that 2018 is actually going to be the 'year of the CV' ? (slightly delayed, but I'd imagine it will be a fairly major change, good luck with it - and the responses to it :) )

    Fun and engaging gameplay

I repeat, As I have never had this happen to me (post beta) over a similar number of games as you have then your approach must be different to mine - I have difficulty believing that RNG has been so good to me over (slightly) more games than you. It might be a tier thing though, perhaps more likely in T9/10 as I have relatively few games in those tiers? (123 to be precise at present, you have 517). Although a fair chunk of T8's (400ish) who do get uptiered to that level. Do you get these in your higher tier ships? (I do take PM as my level 1 skill on all DD's? - just trying to identify why you get these and not me)
  22. philjd

    CV as support class

Don't be silly, I expected better from you. CV's are hard to balance because they did dominate the seas against all other ship types (T6-10). This is a game, they should not be as real as they were, but how to do that and keep them in the game and be viable/intersting. No one has come up with something practical yet.

    MAJOR BUG FOUND!!!!!

(It might have been because you are a CV main, some people take a weird exception to those :), or more likely, he didn't look at the right player name when searching)
  24. and I was thinking that the whole point of playing in a division was to share the game experience concurrently, learn how to co-ordinate ships, discover which ships compliment each other and generally improve the gaming experience for those specific players as well as show to others on both sides the benefits available to actually being part of a team. Guess I was wrong. [not]. OP - look on it as a challenge to benefit your own experience of the game. I note that, assuming this is the first such thread by you, you have not lodged this as an issue if they were on your own team? [some 'unicums' do play the odd division just for S+G's (second word is giggles) which can ruin a battle for the remainder, but those are very rare and are no worse than having three real potatoes in your team].

    CV as support class

If my memory works correctly, too many planes were lost to running out of fuel.... (the maps are not 'that' large, so the fuel part was a bit gamey and initially thought to be good idea but added a tier of micromanagement that proved too much in practice) (very happy to be corrected on this).
