Kaga has 200mm Secondaries that fire AP (5 per side), so that would citadel RN cruisers if they were close enough and broadside enough (and they hit) - she seems to be the only CV that fires AP shells (GZ uses HE).

Nice work, thank you and well done. On the general principle, the larger the ship the easier the spotting of it should be, then the Moskva is probably in the right place as it is not a small ship - there wa s post earlier this week, which I cannot find, that had a pictorial of all the ships in the game to scale in order of size, I wonder if there is a correlation between the two things?

Collecting defeats day after day isn't motivating anymore to keep playing this game !
philjd replied to Herbstnebel1975's topic in General Discussion
Last night I played 9 games, in 7 of them I was a waste of space and played crap (seriously bad in 1 of them), and yet, MM gave me 6 wins, it's a conspiracy and MM was rigged so that I won, I wonder if it was because I joined the twitch prime promotion, so WG rewarded me with good teams..... (Is that enough tin foil? but yes, I did play badly overall last night, mind set wasn't right). ______________________________________________________ OP We all have battles in which we think we played well, but was a loss in the end. There will be times where even if you play everything perfectly you will still lose because the rest of the team didn't play well enough to cope with the red team. But, usually, it is a case of 'what could I have done differently that would have enabled me to actually carry the team to victory'. We all suffer under the vanity of thinking that because we think we did well, we actually contributed to winning. That is a problem that I am addressing myself as I am a good team player, but not so good at solo carrying even when I am driving a ship that is good enough to assist such a carry. -
*cough cough*, is there a ship in the game that cannot citadel a Minotaur? (I suspect that even CV secondaries can do that, although never tried/had it happen lol)

Just how many BB's have better concealment than their same tier cruisers? To be honest, improving the concealment value of cruisers will not impact that much as the advantage the cruisers have is their DPM, if they are firing they are not concealed, if they do not fire much, they have a major minus to their DPM. Yes, handy for running away, but not for impacting the battle to the average driver (good players prosper already). Recently had this forced down my throat by myself - I failed in the 152 Mogami hard, but love the Atago and do well in her, I started to question why, and.. the answer, I was shooting too much, staying visible too much and suffered accordingly.Just rebought the Mogami and fitted her with the 203's and the world changed for me.

I stand corrected, sorry, been a while since I played tanks and had forgotten the wondrous feeling of stumbling around in a KV-1 being pot shotted by everything else outside of vision range :)

MM will throw the odd curve ball in, depending on the queue at the time. How did you guys cope? Was it 'ouch that was a tough lesson' or, 'wow, that was how it ought to be played', or 'wahoo, we beat them!' with verbal high fives all around? (Do remember that from their point of view, it might be as "enjoyable" a match as it was for you guys).

Yes, I am aware of that, no one is expected to switch their eyes balls and brains off, but refusing to or ignoring when the opportunity presents itself, or just plain ignoring, is a very different question. And if a cap is to be contested it is best to have some support etc etc etc.

I think I had my Tirpitz for about a year before I drove her.... Having all that has been said previously about BB drivers, which we have come to generally expect, my main irritation are DD drivers who do not seem to understand the labels 'scout' and 'Cap' that are attached to almost all of those ships in all situations, and all of those ships in some situations.

Banned by complaints after three games, not a single message sent

Have to ask, just what is that.. a combination of math and a music mixing desk? ;) -
Have you played the Smith? :)

Invisible firing in WoT didn't annoy me in game mechanic terms as some one else was doing the spotting and you could do 'something' to that someone to stop the invisi firing, if you could find them and destroy them or force them away. The WoWs equivalent was an outright 'even though I am shooting you, it is impossible for you to see me unless I f'k up' mechanic, which was broken. Bloom duration by ship classes has been proposed a number of times, but with limited acceptance AFAIK from WG as a concept, but would be good to have.

[Theory] Why the Problem with CV's is Damage Control Party
philjd replied to WarshipsPodcastEU's topic in General Discussion
Those I read and understood, but there is a difference between stopping DoT, restoring functionality etc immediately while a repair ability is functioning or phasing it out/restoring it over the time taken to complete the repair. I wasn't clear on my understanding of which way either option would work, hence the Q :) -

Doesn't have to be T10, happens with any CV that has 2 TB squadrons. Your concept I like, but suspect that it is overly complex to actually do without being hot keyed (the radial menu's tend to be slower than straight keyboard commands which can be vital for something like DCP). Quick clarification question - after hitting the DCP selection, is the chosen fire, flooding, AA battery repair etc instantaneous or on completion of that task? (there should still be the ability to perma destroy something, as some parts of a ship cannot be repaired/replaced while at sea - and yes I know it is mostly arcade and not simulation, but there are limits to arcadyness :) ). -
Outright, IMO, the issue is BB popularity, there are so many of them being played because we the players prefer them en masse to the other classes in the game. Hence the soft cap of 5 per game. In detail, each nerf to non-BB's is portrayed as a buff to all BB's, which they are indirectly. There have been more nerfs hitting other ships/classes than BB's, hence the vitriol. In reality, the whole premise of the game is difficult to balance, CV's should totally dominate a battle (rl classes 1941+), followed by the BB's, with the CA's and DD's tasked with scouting and protecting the BB's from their equivalents. Which is why the game attempts the rock paper scissors approach to balancing classes, which may work if the numbers crunch correctly, but they don't usually. Some ships used to be able to invisible fire (CA's and DD's), but that was taken away (which I agree with) as on balance it was detrimental to overall gameplay. This was a 'buff' to BB's more than any other beneficiary as they suffered the most from it. Invisible firing torps are not so bad as they can be dodged or avoided in the first place, WASD 'hacks', (with a hard look towards deepwater torps here). WG have tried a number of approaches to torpedo's none of which brought about a broad concensus, jury is out on deepwater, we'll see how those work out, but seem to be fairly well received at present. Anyways, the game is fun and engaging regardless :)

I usually have loading in issues on the first battle of the day, so I now no longer choose to drive a DD for that particular battle as a quick start is almost essential for those. Since the last update (7.2), I get screen stutter on occasion, especially after playing the Hermes Operation - I have a fairly decent machine with 8GB (2x4) of graphics that ought to be able to cope with anything that the game chucks at me.

French BB Unlock Mission after 0.7.2 - Possible Bug
philjd replied to Aotearas's topic in General Discussion
In a similar position to the OP here, so curious about the answer. -
Well, the ships in Leningrad probably came under the most frequent and sustained attacks of any other particular ships during the war - the fact that the attackers were not other naval forces can be brushed under the rug.

Republique turtleback - a fail or something planned?
philjd replied to elblancogringo's topic in General Discussion
Not sure if anyone actually knows the true values for anything, even for the actual ships built as there are lots of different stats available depending on the source used (not necessarily major differences but enough to make you wonder about how they managed to actually get them finished if no one knew the actual final design spec's... poetic license I know, but people like us end up arguing over differences where actually there is no right or wrong answer). -
We tried this as a 7 man division last night but had to swap out a couple of players because they did not have ships that met the requirements. I understand the concept of why there are select nations only, but in game terms it doesn't really work.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
philjd replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Just bumped into @Miessa3 trying out what apparently was an almost brand new Saipan - sorry mate, we were running troll AAA combinations post clan wars (T's 7+8), so happened to be in Sims, Atlanta (both AAspec'd) and Kaga for that one. Which certainly did not help Miessa3 settle into his shiny new toy. Good battle though overall. (no doubt fellow forumites will be relieved that he was not using 3+1 :) ) -
My game crashed last weekend about 2 mins into the battle (was in a division of 3) Had a running commentary from my clan mates of what was happening to my ship until I finally managed to get back in. Miraculously survived. ________________________ Excellent suggestion though OP.

Just to validate aeoteras's post:- ____________________________________________________________ Do you have a statistical sample that shows that an imbalance in the number of radar ships affects win rates? (JK'ing)

As do I, but that is down to me trying to take a snap shot as a better target reveals itself, my shells go miles away, then I face palm and go "bugger, I didn't target it first". It's a mechanic, use it. Sorry mate, but 'user error' here, not a bug.
