You can't take in account the idiots that do that when balancing stuff. Those that do that are beside the point. That's not where you balance a mechanic on. That's like you replace the caps in domination to behind the spawn points of the teams because some people run to the back line. you don't take in account the stupidity of people. It's not like they are abusing the skill. So your point is void. Your first point is a non-reason. Hiding a 60k ton ship at 14 km is balancing an individual ship. Other ships are visual at 18km. Radar is a core mechanic that works the same for everybody. Also, I'm not attacking the arcadiness of the game or the radar. And I'm not saying this radar mechanic breaks the game. Also the amount of radar has been low over the last couple of years, only spiking up since the american light cruiser inclusion. Plus I didn't say it's cheating, it feels like cheating. And I don't think we need radio location in the game either. As for your second point: apart from the "I look at your stats, so I know exactly what kind of player you are" nonsense, I HATE using radar cruisers xD I am not going to [edited] about the kind of ship and then play a radar cruiser. That would be hypocritical. I am not buying Alaska on purpose, even though I would really want a Battlecruiser. I refuse to play my mino as a Radarship. I got no interest in advancing the American cruiser line anytime soon. So thanks but no thanks, I know how to play radar cruisers well enough, but I have no need of using them as I refuse to play them as intended.

Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.

Wow....ultimate marine mammal slapper :) -
That's what I think too. With the CVs being a regular sight on the battlefield and almost every cruiser having radar, in addition to a lot of hydro carrying ships, there is almost no way to hide anymore. With so much transparancy on the battlefield, using LoS might bring back a bit of stealth and tactics. I take it that when WG tried the LoS mechanic, it was in a time when radar and hydro were uncommon ship skills. Now, when cruisers and the random BB can chain-radar a wide area, things might tend to play out different when implementing LoS. It feels like cheating imo to see through walls and anticipate when ships will sail out from cover. Plus it promotes camping even more. For instance, in the current situation, if I am behind a rock and the enemy uses radar, I will keep camping behind a rock, because the enemy team know exactly where and when to shoot if I move. If LoS exists, the only way I know the enemy radar is in use is either when I move out from cover into sight of a radar ship or if a teammate is in sight of a ship that uses radar and announces he does so. So I don't have reason to camp behind a rock in fear of radar spotting me and will move to a better position to help my team. In the latter situation the enemy team doesn't have a clear preemptive shot at you moving from behind cover and unless you good good communication with your PUG, most (if any) of your team don't know when the enemy radar ship has used their radar until they are caught by it in plain sight. Also the radar ship won't just use their radar nonchalantly just to check what's going on in a 10 km range around his/her ship, but has to be more careful using it for the radar to be at it's most effective. This in turn makes the use of radar a more skillbased button to use instead of this random "I want to see everything" button that reveals all. And that way having radar on most cruisers isn't that big of a deal.

So not answering a question and overexagerating/ridiculing a post is your way of replying. If you are gonna troll like that, yeah, please don't respond anymore xD

T2: Mikasa. Shame the secundaries aren't getting buffed, otherwise this ship would be played a lot more by me. T3: Nassau. love to brawl with this :) T4: Orion. Kaiser is fun too with her secundaries, but I love to delete DDs with Orion's HE volleys T5: Kongo. So fast, so accurate, such long range. T6: Wanted to say I only got a least disliked one here, but then I remembered Prins Eitel. A mix of Bayern and Gneis, she is a very fun ship and handles well. T7: King George for sure. I can't put my finger on why the ship and I clicked, but I love how it plays. Though somehow WG gave the best T7s to the RN (Fiji and Jervis play like adream too) T8: This tier is brimming with potential greatsest ships/BBs in the game. But to keep it short: NC best Silver BB and I give Roma the Gold personal favorite award (Massa is prolly the best T8 BB) T9: I only have Iowa and Musashi and somehow Iowa and I don't really get along, so it's Musashi for me. T10: Don't have one yet, but if Yamato is a better musashi, then it will get my vote. Plus I will sing Uchuu Senkan Yamato throughout the whole match :)

I'm sorry, but you both miss the point and aren't answering my question, only giving cheeky non-answers to ridicule my post. I'm not bitching about radar, or hydro for that matter. I am adressing the ability to see through walls, and specifically within the assured detection range. Which neither of you gave an answer to what the reason is of being able to look through walls. No is not an explanation. Seeing but not able to shoot the enemy OR not being able to see so you don't know where the enemy is, those are two totally different situations. Being able to douze fires with water installations and using bulkheads to instantly stop floodings from spreading, yes, that is quite realistic. And it being a game is a non-reason. You can literally give that for anything, so that is bs. And there you go with ridiculous stuff that would break the whole game. When did WG test this? Afaik, radar has always shown everything behind cover. Neh, I'm ok with radar, hydro and assured detection. Just not with being able to see through mountains, specifically with the last kind of detection. I don't understand why the game needs being able to look through mountains. If you got a good reasoning for that implementation and why it's a good thing, I'm all ears. I don't need to get lectured on how to deal with radar.

Your favorite cruiser: Tier for tier
FukushuNL replied to NothingButTheRain's topic in General Discussion
I'm humbled to get a personal shoutout. Can't leave here without leaving my own most favorite cruisers here now, can I? ;) T2: giving this one to the Jurien. Apart from Mikasa there isn't anything on T2 I really like. Wait, can I pick Mikasa as she takes a Cruiser spot now in MM iirc :) T3: Bogatyr. I love the bulky look, the mad amount of guns, the choice of more fire or bigger shells and the strange turrets :) T4: Yubari. Just got her not that long ago, but this cruiser/DD really works well. Those laser shots kan do good fire dmg and finish off low hp stuff by just looking at it :) T5: Kirov. I love the 3 triple barrel turrets. Good range, good dispersion and good firestarters. T6: Dallas. Love this chiby version of Cleveland. I don't have a T6 cruiser I really play with a lot, but Iiked Dallas the most. T7: Can't be any other cruiser but the Fiji. I would nominated this ship as being the best ship in the game. I don't have many MvP streaks, but the ones I got was with this ship. T8: Chapayev. I played Chapa before the removal of stealthfiring where a concealment Chap had a 3 kilometer buffer between her detection range and her firing range. But even without that, who wouldn't love her when 2 battleships would rage over chat when they couldn't hurt her while bow-in? xD T9: I only experienced Dmitri and Neptune, and between those two, I have had by far the most fun with Neptune. T10: Minotaur didn't only look awesome in it's performance while I was drooling over YT vids of it while working up the RN CL line, it plays like a dream too now that I actually have her. She's the only T10 I own, next to her little pet Daring, but I am glad she is all I hoped she would be. -
Why do we got this in game and would it be better if it's gone? Is this to be an anti-camping mechanic? Isn't the whole reason that there are so many islands, so that you got something to hide behind? And those that camp behind islands for the whole game will fail anyways. At some point you just can't make the game more fool-proof and have to rely on other things to punnish people for not playing the game the right way. But this only if that is THE reason for this mechanic. I just find this a annoying mechanic promoting magic to the game. I am glad though that planes already adopted LoS mechanics and lost their mountain x-ray vision. I'd rather have the other mechanics like Radar, Hydro and assured detection to lose the Mountain-o-vision too. Radar and Hydro are strong enough for seeing everything that isn't behind an island and if I camp behind an island and a DD decides to sneak up to me and torp me from point blank range, I deserve it. That said, I am interested if there were reasons why these mechanics are in the game.

Hold on to your hats BB players - The DD Players have a new target

Like the I can spot everything if it's closer than 2/2,5 km away? :) -
Hold on to your hats BB players - The DD Players have a new target
FukushuNL replied to sgtmarple's topic in General Discussion
As a fan of playing DDs (and frankly every other kind of ship, though that doesn't matter here) I got no problem with CVs, even if there are 2. I do have an issue with most cruisers in MM having radar. It's really not strange for DDs not to cap anymore because of it. It's a bit strange though for DDs to [edited] about BBs sniping them... -
Whatt I don't get is the torp aimer transforms to an inwards trajectory if you aim long enough, but the torps when launched still move paralel to eachother. They should converge near the target. Otherwise the aimer should transform into a rectangle like the Americans. About the strafe bombers, I agree. Only had 1 good run on a Nelson that just kept going straight and if it works, it works good, doing 8k damage. But every other run was crap.

Ah, like that. I hate that WG isn't forthcoming and clear with that bit of info. You have to look it up or be confronted with it when you naively want to indeed convert the elite xp to free xp. I'd have a way more positive look at the whole "elite xp + dubloons = free xp" mechanic when it was just properly explained everywhere instead of being all this secret about it. Ah, well.

where is this player base heading to...?
FukushuNL replied to _TinPan_'s topic in General Discussion
THe only thing I learn from this picture is that you shouldn't play with the gearing or Desmo, as they seemingly aren't your type of ships, though I must comment you with persevering with the ship as you have almost 2 million captain xp with it. But seriously, I agree that there are quite some strange games being played, where everyone camps in a corner, ships not playing their role, etc, but on the other hand, most people aren't that involved in the game that even if you would add up all the xp on every of their captains, they would get anywhere close to the 2 million xp. -
Lol, glad I'm not the only one with that problem. Sometimes I just think I'd better switch to AP because they set as much on fire as the HE shells do. After the battle I have to make sure they didn't stealthnerf the fire chance on the RN BB HE shells.
-
Thx for noticing this. So if I play the Furious until it gets made into a standard tier ship, I am making a 100% free XP with it, if I decide to scrap it later and start over. Good to know.
-
I'm doing this in the Lightning. Got an easy 23k fire in a couple of matches. And I don't mind playing HE BBs :) If I can better burn you up than AP you to death, I won't think twice to switch to HE shells ;) I love hearing other players scream "But BBs shouldn't fire HE shells" in a literal blaze for my glory while citing some random rule other people have though up because with the old BBs HE was crap compared to APing a perfect broadside. But seriously, HE on the Brits are so strong because their aim is bonkers, from Monarch up you couldn't hit a warehouse when you were docked beside it. If I do get to a 10km (or less) broadside I'll try to AP it if I got the time. Though a full boradside filled with HE is very sexy too :P

xD Jep, seems like you love your DDs :) Curious, if you could choose 1 per tier, what would it be?
-
Not really fake news, just misinterpreted or I could write what I meant a bit clearer :) What's wrong with Le Terrible?
-
I love that screenshot xD Best achievement ever xD
-
:O Seriously? :O Heard a lot of that DD, am now at Fushun. I find it such a shame the German line is losing the frontmounted tubes :/
-
Secundaries on a DD xD What range? Derski is a right laugh with that mount of torps xD Got her in my port too permanently :) Groz is a lovable DD?
-
Wows got lots of great music. For example: .....this is a top 3 fav tunes in the game. ....And I 'm missing this one, if I'm not mistaken. It's not in the game atm, right? I'd like for it to be when the Russian BBs make their appearance. ....this one is a classic :D Whenever there is action in the game and this starts to play...goosebumps. ....as a bonus. Great sailing song to get you riled up for the battle to come. Too much great and memorable music in this game.
-
This seems like a fun ship that I would buy. 14 turrets is a nice broadside that I would love to fire. Dps is scaleable, so doesn't need to be an issue. And I love my Mikasa too, even though she is very underpowered and has crappy MM.
-
I voted No. I'm doing ok with Premium, special flags, enough special camos and lots of time invested, but those around me that have a life, kids, work, etc. and put their gametime in this game really don't make that much of a progress. None of them have a tier 10 yet even though they don't have that much lines they are grinding. And they are all averagely skilled.

What are you talking about? I think WG does a lot of cool things for a F2P game. I can't think of another F2P game that has this quality and free content. So please don't put words in my mouth, ok? That whole historic lesson about how the camo came to be is totally besides the point. I just said that lots of people, including me, don't have any use of the camo. It's like getting a free steering wheel cover when you will never own a car. I can't even give the camo away to anyone that can't do the dailies but has a Blyska. "They give it away as a simple mission...", "This is wargaming engaging the community" Why not just give it for free to anyone who buys a Blyska or make it a personal mission wheneverone buys a Blyska?
