But if you are doing that well with RTS CVs, you are not a mediocre RTS CV player. The numbers are there to prove it. The rest is just speculation until you bring factual evidence in form of statistics from the whole community.

Grosser Kurfürst/Khabarovsk replaced in update 0.11.1
FukushuNL replied to Nozzel's topic in General Discussion
FdG is far from a bad ship. Had some very solid battles with it. Like very, very solid. Those which I failed, were more my lack of skills than the ship's. -
Depending on the DD, you are looking at 2 minutes reloading time with a weapon that is very unreliable in hitting stuff. Between the time of launching torpedos and the moment the come in range, the target might be in a totally different place. If you want to compare torp reload on DDs vs CV planes, then planes should also take 2 minutes before you can launch them again. Or more, because planes are easier to hit with. But limiting CV plane range and reload is probably a bit of an overkill and will up the alpha strike of planes that much more that it will probably mean insta-kill DDs, which is not good. Limiting a CV's range will already make it so much more difficult to play a CV by having to control the CV AND the planes at the same time, increasing the risk factor by a whole lot as you have to manouver the CV into place before able to strike and limits the CV's range of influence while also finally give enemy players a good indication of where an enemy CV might be located, which will see CVs dead before other ships more often than now.

People that were skilled in RTS CVs were possibly even worse for the game as the skill ceiling was through the roof. It was a hard to master class, with the better CV player dominating the game for his team while the team with the newby/crappy CV player doomed to lose. The rework made the skill ceiling super low, so every idiot can play the class and screw over everything that is no CV. RTS CVs ruined the game for the team with the worst CV player, while Rework CVs ruin the game for all surface ships in the match. I do think though that Rework CVs, if nerfed/balanced in the correct way, are easier to fix. I put up an idea recently about a fix that would instandly make the CV class waaaay more balanced and interesting to play (against): "Every other ship, including subs, run a risk to get countered or step into a spot that can kill them because they are slow and cumbersome or have any other limit like gun/torpedo range etc. CVs don't run that risk. So why not introduce that to them, by limiting they planes to 15 kilometer range? -This way they have to be part of the battle to be able to do some damage. -This way CVs, like the other ships, can be pinpointed more accurately, range and position wise. -The actual ship becomes way more relevant as you have to relocate more often instead of dropping it at the border of the map and be done with it. -Yes, they have to get in closer, but they are the only "ship" type that can fire from stealth and "shoot" from behind their own cover at a ship that is behind cover. -Surface ship have to think about what information they give away when firing, moving to another position, use buffs, etc. Now CVs would be needing to do the same before attacking. "Am I correctly positioned?", "Do I need to reposition according to the new enemy placement?", "What info am I giving away when I launch my planes from this place?", etc, etc. -Finally "being able to get attacked by a CV" will be a tactical element in a player's mind. Calculating the risk of not being attacked as range and direction from planes indicate the CV is not stationed near you. Or maybe he is near you because he tries to fool you with taking the long way around. -This also gives more purpose to the German CV gimmick, coincidentially :) -CVs have to be adjusted as they now run more risk, so armor should be changed as should attackpower, the latter since launching planes now will be more tactical and less frequent. You have to get in range/place like all the other ships, not launching planes becomes a tactical advantage or even a necessity, for all the stealthiness you will have to relocate more. So damage attempts will be way less frequent. Also consealment and manouverability stats (speed, accel, turning rate, etc) will/might have to be adjusted."

Nice trolling, mate.

Yeah, you deffo don't know what the reworked CVs are capable of.

You ever been crosstorped by Midway and checked how much dmg that did?
-
Cheers for all you have done up till now. Your time and effort are very much appreciated. It means a lot for me personally. Might be not mistaken if I would say it also means a lot for other people too.

Dear WG, when will you continu work on Sinterklaas? I thank you for taking the effort to give the captain a unique voice, but then: -this is the real voice of Sinterklaas: -Why does he keep bitching on my ship? -only the first sentence at the start is unique. -instead of taking the normal Dutch captain for the rest of the voice coms, you have taken the standard american one. If you do something, don't do it half(baked). I was positively surprised when I used Sinterklaas on my Kijkduin, but then I was very disappointed as to how long you must have given a care about the captain: -looks: check -background: check -event: check -voice: let's get the 30 year old guy that did the Dutch captains to do this one too. -... -.... "Voice done?" "Yeah, but we got bored after the intro." "Just chuck the standard us voice under the rest and call it a day." "Great! We even got Heiniken, guys!" You were almost there, why not go for it 100% if you took it halfway already? Sincerly, Fukushu P.S. I really like the air strike joke

It's all fun that everybody is focussing on the dev strike potential of the sub, which is on itself ofcourse crazy, but please don't compare the potential of subs with that of CVs. Sub potential does not come even close to that of CVs. It's indeed assassins VS god. Yes the assassin can 1-shot kill a BB/CA/CL from stealth, but only after finally be able to get into a position to do so. That mostly means ships have to move in a specific order and the battle has to go in a specific way to get to the set up as a sub. And subs are not very fast, let alone when to try and get near other ships in stealth. This indeed takes skills and time. CVs on the other hand can get anywhere on the map in 30 seconds, have 1000 times more spotting potential, actively create their own setups, can also 1 shot full health BBs, don't need high skill levels to do so, are a threat the moment the battle begins plus they do all this without running the risk of sinking and getting put out of play while in range of attacking the enemy. I do agree 1-shots by subs is very bad for the game, but let's not involve CVs in the same discussion, as that problem ain't in the same world of issues, let alone the same ballpark of issues.

Can we please reduce the number of dds and subs per game ffs
FukushuNL replied to ARE_YOU_HUMAN's topic in General Discussion
Doesn't happen often at all. Plus I rather have that than the usual CV. -
But we already got Dutch voices for each command xD Cheers, Sera :) But why the whole Q&A? You have done all the work already with the original voiceovers you used for the normal Dutch, French, Italian, etc Voiceover. Just let the Sinterklaas guy say the same thing, but with the Sinterklaas voice. I mean, WG took the time and effort to give the Sinterklaas captain those special intro sentences. That would take more time to verify than to find and get a Dutch guy over to speak those sentences. I mean, even if it is of a lesser quality than the 2 unique intro sentences, it would be better work than just paste the English voices under the rest of the orders. (P.S., these points are not directed at you, Sera, but more questions towards the devs.) Well, I think WG took the time to implement Sinterklaas style intros because they care enough about the captain to take the time and effort. And Sinterklaas, and Bram van der Vlugt (R.I.P.), were a fond part of my youth so I care. So if I care and WG cares, I think it's ok that I let WG know they did a shoddy job. If WG doesn't care, they should just copy/paste the whole US captain voiceover package under Sinterklaas and be done with it. Even then they should use the Dutch language pack they got because they have the package in their voice library. Just as they got them for every single version of Saint Nick in the event. Look, I don't mind you don't care about captain national/event voiceovers. I personally think they really add something to the game. Even outside the game they stick in my head, certainly the Russian and Italian commander voiceovers. Quite a few of the anime voiceovers are awesome too. Like Hipper who shouts "Fayaaaaaa!!!!" everytime you shoot. It adds to the game. What breaks that immersion is a famous old Dutch speaking celebrity that first speaks like he should and then turns into a 30 year old American person.
-
Fine too, but then let them all talk English. This is a bit of half/half, which is stupid. Doing your best to give the captain a semi Sinterklaas voice and then think "F it, the rest will be in the standard American English". And it is not that we are a half decenia back where national voices didn't exist. We got Dutch voiceovers. And each ingame country got its personal Santaclaus version now. They made the extra effort to get that far, then dropped everything and went for lunch, never to get back to it. For sure :) He has 2 lines, of which one he talks about him dropping presents from up high making him invent airstrikes :)

If you only use what is convenient to you and leave out things that don't help your point like concealment and any map/location aptitude, then the discussion is moot. Schliefen is fast and has good concealment, but if you sneak up on a concealed Gearing or Daring, then you either were stupid enough not to shoot at the rest of the enemies when it was needed and did not show yourself on the map before and the DD went in smoke in a place where noone else could see the Schliefen due to not being within the Schlieffen's concealment. That doesn't even happen much with hydro cruisers, let alone a BB.
-
Seldom. Killed way more other ship types. And that is not because CVs are that scarce, but more because the rest can't hide in the edge of the map while hitting whoever they like and be uncounterable. 99% of the time I could not hit a CV when they could hit me. 99% of the time the CV wasn't anywhere near where I was on the map. So yeah, no need to defend CVs. They are the gods of the battlefield.
-
I must say I really love sailing the current Repulse ingame. Good guns, good maneuverability, I like her. A line like hers would be very welcome for me.
-
Which is ironically funny. It's a noob trap because CVs are a noob trap. Same as the main title, it's not worth it because CVs are not worth it. It's the same as asking with cars "are rudders worth it" as cars in the water are not worth it.
-
No need to defend CVs. They are all the way in the back of the forums already with double the middlefingers not caring about anything. Just like ingame. No need to defend something that is not physically in the battle.
-
That is my thinking too.
-
So the Radar and the CV are the bad things here. Not the range of the secondaries. Take away the radar meta and nerf the CV spotting and all is well in the world. That 1 line of 2nd BCs of which only the upper tier has 2nds to speak of, vs the 20000 ships that carry radar and the whole fleet of CVs that have godlike powers gamewise. I wonder what the real problem is here...
-
When will it ever happen that Schlieffen gets the chance to sneak up on Daring or Gearing in smoke? Those are some very specific situations btw. I mean, then the DD is asking for it if that is the case. Havecsome situational awareness. Same goes for Conq then.
-
Apart from him telling all the basic truths ofcourse. Playtime >>>>> facts, that is the WOWS way of truth, right?
-
You know what IS destructive to DDs' active gameplay? Radar and CVs. The random german BC with 12,5 km secondaries you come across is way lower on the chart of things that disrupt DD active gameplay. I mean, one on one, most DDs can still take down a KM BC without even being spotted. It is CVs and 75% of the ships on the teams having radar that is the problem here. Their spotting of DDs is what makes things hard or impossible. They are the problem, not the KM BCs. Edit: What @arttuperkunas said.

Everyone loves CV is what WG gets from the forums, the surveys, the statistics and general gameplay experience. Everything is as it should be, captain 😉👍🏻

A way to make CVs in sync with surface ships
FukushuNL replied to FukushuNL's topic in General Discussion
Alas, you are right. It would be suddenly involving real risk, which is something CV players can't handle either. Suddenly they have to think about positioning and when to use their attacks, just like every other ship in the game. I think it would level the playing field in a great way, but that is not what CVs should stand for. It is ofcourse WOWS' class for all our little 3 year old brothers/sisters/children that can't stand getting killed. Skills, risk, that is not for them. Indeed. It would incorporated the CV into the rest of the game, making them have to work with the same risks and rewards the surface ships have to work with, having the personal advantages that CV airplanes have, while finally having to deal with disadvantages. Another great thing about this is that the need for positioning introduces tactics for the CV itself. Since you need to move your ship, there is more inittiative to use it as an anti air screen for other ships, where now you just park it in a remote part of the map and it's useless on its own. That is the only tactic now, keep it out of harms way. But if you have to put it in harms way, do you use it: -as an AA screen? -as ram to kill that BB as a last resort? -to take a nearby cap? -a floating sevondary battery together with your team's push? See? Tactics :D CVs will be an even more versatile tool for the team because the get forced into playing the game with everyone else instead of being and outside entity that can exert its power without any counter.
