I agree. Yes, cruisers have overall the highest skillfloor of the 3 real classes being relatively big and cumbersome with either turning circle or range, but that is what makes them interesting to play. BBs are overall very forgiving to play. DDs can be blipped out quite fast when overextending the job they are required to do, but have otherwise enough tools to dictate combat. Cruisers are not very forgiving and they are the fave snack of BBs while having to get in range of said BBs to get near their own intended target. So yes, they are requiring more skill to stay alive in and do something worthwhile compared to DDs and BBs, but that is a good thing. You can also use the "class" babies, toddlers and 80+ use by turning on godmode, for those people that can't handle risk. Nor fairplay for that matter. That "class" is called CV.

Nice :D playing a lot then, I reckon? You are nearing the amount of matches I played in 5 years ;)

Relatively new with 27k steel + Bourgogne and 5 lines grinded + Ohio + 60k rp. What do you mean with relative? ;)

I am so sick and tired of this kind of reasoning. There has been so much injustice been done in the world because this stupid kind of thinking. Black suppression, slavery, persecution of jews, etc, etc. Start thinking for yourself instead of waiting for someone else to tell you you are doing things wrong! And stop justifying your own actions by pointing at some higher power telling you its right to do so, while you know it is wrong and you are hurting other people. Why does WG have to take away your OP toys before you stop using them, while you can find enough evidence everywhere WoWs related telling you CVs are a scourge of the game and that everybody is hating them? Yes, the radar meta is also a thing, but it does in no way compare to this abomination of a class called CV.
-
CVs are broken on so many fronts. Nothing about the ship feels anywhere near balanced apart from maybe the avarage damage they do in a battle. And that is the only thing that matters for WG stats department. Not the amount of spotting, the traveling speed, the multidirectional speed, the obseleteness of mountains, the absence of risk for CVs, the braindeadlessness of the gameplay.

Yeah, but as with people that love to ride around living areas on motorbikes with open exhausts at 00:00, you shouldn't have to ask if they would cease to do it. Or like smoking in a small, crowded room. Or like talking loud on your mobile in the train. Those examples are things that doesn't get you shot on the point or something, and are easily doable, probably fun or normal for the person doing it. But in the meanwhile they are ruining it for the rest of it. All the prior examples all fall within the catagory "1 person's fun/comfort should not come to the expense of that of other people". It's part of what makes a community/civilisation work. And the same goes for CVs. Even though WeeGee keeps lying that we are all having fun because of CVs, one can easily ask in a match or check these forums how surface ships captains think about CVs. And from there one could easily reason with upbring and education one enjoyed, that ruining other peoples' fun just for their own enjoyment is wrong. And that if one does so out of spite or enjoyment to ruin other people's fun, that such a person is an @$$ and a griefer.

CV power doesn't make sense either in a game like this, but WG just shoe horned it in anyways.

So many BBs in MM - BB only matches?

I know what you mean and I am fine with it. -
You want bleating about lower tier CVs? I can give you thatvas I play all tiers as I am mostly (re)grinding lines. And I can say with experience that CVs are an irritation on all tiers. And why would they not? They do exactly the same on each tier. Maybe the lower tier CVs are even worse as AA are made of paper balls Then this crazy talk about Radar and Hydro being worse to gamrplay than CVs. Radar is only there for a short while and ships have to get in position for it. Planes can light up every place in a matter of seconds and unless you are Swedish, it doesn't make a difference if you smoke up as a CV can just wait you out. Plus smoke is on a CD. Are CV planes on a CD? Is CV spotting on a CD? Nothing in the game, NOTHING, can actively hunt DDs as well as a CV could, let alone without any risk to their own ship. And if CVs can't do proper dmg, the rest of the CV team can when lit up by CV spotting. Atleast DD hunting DDs can be shot back at and are mostly having less concealment. Talking about hydro, although CVs can't spot through smoke, for all else CVs have a perma Hydro around their planes that can move as a searchlight over the map. Again, so what if you can't spot through smoke. Just wait out the DD and when the smoke dissipates, light him up again. Yes, Radar and Hydro meta is crap for DDs and sometimes other ships. But make no mistake, CVs are worse for DDs and also for all other classes. CVs crap on concealment, positioning, risk, counterplay, etc, etc. Radars can be outrun and outwaited, CVs can't . Don't ever think Radar is worse than CVs. I hate Radar, but I think way worse of CVs and I got no good word for people playing CVs which are either oblivious or actively trying to make other people's game experience a bad one.

The FdG is bulky and doesn't have acurate guns, but she can take quite a beating. And if you get close, which she can, her accuracy doesn't matter. Her broadside on the other hand does, for the enemy's health. And her 2nds aren't even half bad. Yes, that whole line is a bit overshadowed by the new Germans, but I don't think you will find many a sturdier ship anywhere else in the game. She can perform more than well if you use her correctly.

Lol, so a sub 50% player can't have a good match from time to time? /Facepalm. Does nobody understand here that if there are 50%+ players, there have to be 50%- players? We can't all be 50%+ players as when someone wins, another one loses. I am a 50%- player, but that doesn't mean I haven't carried games or that my skills now might not be as good as a 50%+ player. My past stats do not reflect my current skills either. Nor does it show how well I do in one class/ship or how utterly fail in another. Also MM doesn't bother to match on PR/winrate, so one might be continuously get put up against ppl playing 24/7, while others might be matched with casuals. But don't let me stop you generalizing around a useless stat like winrate.
-
I don't understand. If you are in a DD vs a Montana 1 vs 1, what chance does the Montana have? And now there is a BB that has anti DD countermeasures and all of a sudden things are OP. What do you think the Montana/Yamato/Kremlin/etc player thinks of your uber concealment and stealth torp firing capabilities without being able to counter you. Pretty OP too, right? What I am saying is that 1 vs 1 there is always something that can counter you. I am f**ked too in my Dutch cruiser vs a BB or Subs. I got no torps nor ASM. That is no reason why I wouldn't play a ship. That would mean I would shelve my BBs because of all the HE spammers and all my DDs because of all the CVs and radar boats. Its a team game, if I can't take it down, someone else has to. And Ragnar can do lots of dmg from smoke/behind mountains, right?

I haven't played a match since the release of the German 2nd BBs where I felt that they were really overperforming, killing a remarkable amount of ships or stayed alive more than any other ship out there. Yes, they have hydro and torps, but so many ships have hydro/radar and torps nowaday that you always have to be vigilant for them, a slow BB having them does not scare me any more. I think the main thing you have to be worried about is the 2nds, which are very powerfull. I think what makes it so that in Random they aren't ruling the match is that everything outranges our outconceals them and T8-10 is a game of staying back and fire from long ranges or sitting behind islands and shoot a crazy amount of fire/metal your enemy's way from concealment. The German BBs have to get close first and aren't that great in concealment either. Most other ships can outreach them and they still burn quite well when under attack from smol, Gron, Kita, Fries, Wos, Des and the likes. You just havecto put them down before the can become dangerous and they can be very easily damaged. My list of OP adversaries is: 1. Russian CVs 2. All other CVs 3. HE spammers 4. Radar meta ships The rest don't really stand out much in random for me. Maybe in ranked/comp things are diff, but then it's always Meta, with Petro, Des, Kremlin, etc. Nowcyou got a new one.

I haven't played much with it, but she sails like a mini NC and I like that. Guns sound nice and reaches far plus I get one more for each turret compared to NC. So far I got very good games and less good, but the shipbis always fun imo.

You talk like this is the fault of people that are crazy or something. This is a real psychic problem for many where companies like WG are working hard on to exploit, which is exactly the core issue here. Those that think that WG is generously giving us all these different events for use to pick and play to our leisure are the ones that deceive themselves and have to take a good look at reality.
-
I am of opinion that this is not a correct analogy, and only looking at it from one side. First, WG expects that you play as much WoWS as you possibly can. Every event is aimed at player versus player battles and non of them at PvE. Yes, you can do stuff in Coop, but you won't get far playing only coop games. And Ops is already forgotten by WG. On top of that you got many completionists/ship lovers that play this game and as ships are conveniently placed behind multiple types of credit, you have to play all different types of game modes. And if you are not a completionist for the sake of ships, one might have an addiction or ocd or some other illness that makes them spend a lot of time behind the game trying to do everything. It's not like all peoplr can easily put something next to them and don't touch it anymore. In a shopping mall, 90% of the stuff is not aimed at any target group you are in. In this game, everything is targeted at ship loving gamers that already play the game, us.

Indeed starts to look more like work than gaming :)

I know you like them WG... But this is unnecessary. Pls fix this.
FukushuNL replied to G_Teardrop's topic in General Discussion
That is not the OP's point. I understand what you are saying @G_Teardrop. Superships is just another "good idea" from WG that "we all welcomed with open arms" seemingly if you might believe WG. On top of that it is a type of ship that players have to unlock for them to be seen ingame. For WG to throw them into a coop match where no player has chose to play them, instead WG just pushed them into an empty spot on both sides as some sort of ingame floating commercial of their latest "bright idea". "Look, guys, we got superships now. Come and play them too." It is indeed a faceslap moment, I agree. So to the Colonel and the others, it is not that the OP came across one of them in a match where you could expect the Superships, it's more that WG went out of their way to put Superships in a MM in a way you normally wouldn't be able to meet them, making it look like WG does their utmost to make sure they can say with proof that "everyone likes them". -
All CVs are the culprit. The problem is not that CVs on their own are doing that much dmg, though they are already OP in that way. They worse thing is that they are also spotting everything and their mothers all over the map. I take it you left that out of your part because you forgot about it. Also what is very odd behavior if there is an idiot that chose a CV being put on the other side FFing stuff up for your side that you at least hope that the idiot in a CV that got put on your side at least balances things up for your team? My apologies for calling people that choose CVs an idiot, but seriously, wouldn't you do the same in other teambased games like soccer where suddenly a guy one each team steps into the field with a Jeep to drive the ball up to the other team's goal and to fire the ball in the goal with an RPG, for instance? They f**k it up for the 20 other players on the field and so do CV players for the 22 other players in the match, but they don't care/understand either. CV players only blame WG for putting such a gamebreaking class in the game. "It's WG's fault! I only play the class, don't blame me. And blame Kalashnikov, I only pull the trigger. Blame Ford, I only drive the car. Blame McDondalds, I only buy the fast food. Etc, etc, etc.". It is there, someone else makes it available for me to use, so I use it, who cares if it craps on everyone else' day/fun as long as I get enjoyment out of it. And still CV players don't understand. /facepalm

FukushuNL replied to Andrewbassg's topic in General Discussion
I like it :) Let's give all CVs these RNG attacks. You will have my signature and blessing. -
First I want to say, stop playing CVs. You might have a good time, but 22 other players in your match suffer for it. Then for your main issue, it is all a learning experience. Where in the low tiers 1-6 every is rather harmless, maps are smaller, things go a lot slower, etc, in higher tiers, the gimmicks and specialties really start to show, maps are getting larger, range and concealment start to play a way bigger role and the original rock-paper-scissor balance starts to become way more obvious. The T6-8 matchmaking is smackdab in the middle of that transition. And it is a transition you have to get used to. In all honesty, you have to learn how to play smarter, learn what style of gameplay your ships need to be played with to get the best results, learn the specifics of the enemy, play with your concealment and Line of Sight, mountains, when to shoot and when not, watch the movement of all other ships on the map and most important: Don't overextend! The longer you live, the more you can help your team. In my experience, there is this small line running across the map, which changes course and shape as the battle progresses. It is more of a bump and you have to find that bump yourself. And it is that bump you have to ride throughout the match. Staying behind that bump safely and you will be useless to the outcome of the match. Fall off that bump towards the enemy side and you will 90% surely be focussed down because you overextended. Finding that perfect line is finding the perfect position for your ship and comes with experience, being able to read the battle, to know your ship and to be patient. Before you know it, the tier difference will be way less of a worry. T5-7 is just a phase you have to go through. 7-9 and 8-10 is way less of an issue, though the tier difference will always be a thing. Gl out there ;) The US BB line is a great line to move into the higher tiers imo. And got the Montana route.

So, you are just skilled in both CV types. Doesn't say much more than that. But I agree that both CVs are not good for the game in both ways that they were balanced. The time period that really showed that was the time between the end of the RTS version and the introduction to the Rework version, where there were no CVs in the gamecat all. I think speaking for most that that time was the golden era of WoWs. Not that I don't believe CVs can be properly balanced and that I don't want them in the game. I don't want the current godmode/childrens version in the game. I stand by my idea that limiting aircraft range will solve most problems with spotting, introducing risk and make the class more interesting to play, bringing it much closer to the other classes while keeping its own identity and gameplay style.
-
Nah, RTS CVs were way more influencial to the progression of the battle than any other class, even more than DDs and the current Rework CVs. Plus the skill ceiling and skill floor were both way higher than current CVs. CVs are that important because of their overlord/god status on the battlefield, then and now. A fact that got pressed home even harder by the "CVless periode" where indeed DDs ruled supreme. But even then, losing a DD is/was significantly less of an issue than losing your CV. Losing a BB or CA/CL is even less of an issue and a more incidental one. DDs are the key in late game capping/stealth killing and CVs are the ultimate guard against the enemy as they are the only ones that can spot the whole map in a minute and can outrun and kill DDs. BBs and Cruisers have way less potential to make or break a game, certainly in the late game.

A way to make CVs in sync with surface ships
FukushuNL replied to FukushuNL's topic in General Discussion
Cheers for your imput, really appreciate it. Though I don't think those propositions are going to do anything to fight the problems at all, if I am honest. 99% of the CV matches end with tracking down the CV and at that moment it doesn't matter anymore how easy or hard it is to make the CV, burn, flood or explode. Same with your idea of a flight time limit, as it does not hurt the CV. In a matter of seconds, the planes are on the other side of the map, so even if his planes run out of flight time, he can send new planes that reach the same point again. And that is only when we are discussing patrolling an area. Flight time will do nothing if the CV is continually using his planes for attack runs. Plus flight time balancing will be hard. Too long and it doesn't matter what time you give planes for the reason I mentioned above. Too short and you don't give CVs the ability to fire off all their potential shots, if any. You also have to take in acount different map sizes. If you want to make flight time limit relevant, you have to make sure CVs don't get much time to fly around, even on small maps. But then you might not give them enough time on big maps. And if you want to start balancing that out, you will fall into a veritable rabbit hole. Plus it doesn't give all the positives that limiting aircraft flight range does, like introducing risk by having the actual CV involved in the battle, forcing the CV captain to manage both planes and ship, introduce the need for CV captains to learn positioning, having them use their brain to think before attacking as now attacking would give enemies an indication where the CV might be. On top of that, CVs can't attack everything on the map anymore, nor spot the whole map for the enemy positions at the start of the map, plus they now alsio have to commit to a certain part of the map and have to calculate distance to their targets to see if they can attack from their current position. Furthermore, CVs will have to deal and make use of mountains and the German CV line might make use of their secondary gimmick more. CVs will still be a pain in the [edited]as they can still fire from stealth, attack from every angle, spot ships for their friends and fly over mountains to attack camping ships, all while not being able to be attacked back because of it. Only with limiting range, they stop being the omnipotent gods of the battlefield anymore, which is a severe nerf to their godlike and noobfriendly status, but a severe upgrade to both their balancing and fun factor as they will finally need a bit of skill and management to use. -

It was a bit on edge with the Asian jokes, which was probably more to keep in the same style with the rest of the vid. The part with Dasha was ok. I mean, not as if she wasn't there to look pretty and atractive for what I think I mostly a male community. I am for equal opportunities and treat everyone the same, but as said, Dasha is no dev or something and they got a whole company to do introductory videos to mechanics and patches. So what is Dasha's plus point? Indeed. And for the rest he said what everyone else was thinking. I myself am looking forward to his Super CV patch intro.
