What you got in your Santa containers?

While I may agree with your disappointment, I certainly do not agree with your math about chances to get ships: it was written that you have a SLIM chance to get ships in the containers. I guess the way probability works is that FIRST it gets decided if you get a ship (yes/no) and SECOND if Yes, then it gets randomly decided which one. Nobody said or wrote that you have 25% chance to get a ship. To me SLIM chance means something like 1% or below...

    Nerf the Conqueror ...

I'm surprised that the Conqueror subject still generates so high interest and emotions in these days. Having finished the grind from Lion I can confirm that playing with Conq is a rather interesting experience. I agree - just like many community members - that this ship is designed for a game-play that is 1) unique, 2) very idiot proof 3) efficient. As a result the "anti BB" battleship is with us and it will stay with us I guess. However. Consider first that the need for such a BB was inherited in the previous meta --> BB overpopulation, therefore what WG did was just a natural reaction to the balance: sent in a ship that feeds on BBs. On the other hand the Conqueror has two weaknesses that players should learn when fighting against them: 1) Torpedoes --> and on this the new Deep Water Torps (PanAsian DD line) are just adding a lot to the risk 2) AP damage taken from brawling range - while no citadel hits, those can be hurting (not possible to repair) So after some small experience with it and many against it, my verdict is still: it is an annoying ship that propagates a very bad playstyle that is unfortunately efficient. However the ship is not OP. Do not mix the two.

WG EU strikes again: The Naval Tour

Before getting to the point I make a general observation that WG often misses: it is to be recognized that that World of Warships community is very diverse in terms of demography, education level and other factors. Given the nature of the game it entertains on many level therefore any and every communication is read and interpreted by very different people - from students to doctors, engineers to lawyers. This is exactly why the anger grows - because too many people realizes the fault and mistake in the explanation logic. To the point: I'm 100% certain that the contest WG created can be run in every country that is part of the EU server cluster (not limited to EU as a political "organization"). The problem lies in the details, that many countries have different rules and criteria to make it fit to the legal system and also not to forget that giving out such prizes has impacts on taxation (first and foremost personal income tax of the winnters) that may be different in each country. My conclusion is that for whatever reason WG decided NOT TO STUDY these special rules and they just went ahead with the countries with which they are comfortable without running too much investigation work. This is clearly not a good behavior from an international company. Last but not least I can just repeat my mantra about situations like this: If someone wants to solve a problem, it looks for solutions, but when the objective is NOT to solve the problem the easiest is to find excuses. and WG does exactly the later.

What's the point of new Pan Asia line?

I haven't played them yet, but saw a lot of reviews and opinions from CCs (Youtube) As far as my understanding goes the PA DD line is a little new flavor into the game that is aimed 1) to please a certain customer / player group 2) assist in getting over the BB craze / overpopulation (Deep Water Torps to me are primary annoyance to BBs with the short detection time and increased damage) As others said I'm not considering developing the line now - manybve later. For the time being I'm interested in DD hunting vessels, like radar cruisers. BTW: one question I haven't found answer yet: how can you decide/see if the Deep Water Torps are going to hit a certain ship? (I mean from information and stats). For example: is Minotaur in danger or not? Anybody tried? :)

    Wargaming wtf are you doing

First I totally dislike topics with meaningless titles. This is a trap for the reader and a very ugly one. As for the content - It is OK to vent and it is OK to learn. However my recommendation is to everyone to make some research before getting angry or disappointed regarding some game features and new / modified features. This is because as a human being, everyone is afraid of change. This is a very low level behavioral thing that can only get overcome with conscious thinking. I'm playing this game since the BETA, I fell into the same "the sky is falling" mindset many times, but yet here we are: the game is developing, the player base is stable, WG is still deploying new features and so on... ..also about the US CV line changes I haven't heard any CV PROs or experts complaining...
  7. Well, while I certainly agree with you that a lot of goose can take down a pig, please remember that this is not the first time when a new line gets released and the "craze for new" starts by flooding the game with the new ships. I have lived through many of these, such as the BB infestation at the release of the German BBs or the funny situations around the release of the UK cruisers - just to name a few. My personal policy was always to "stay away from the crowd" - therefore I'm pretty comfortable with what I said - but we can agree that this strategy is not for everyone. BTW: if you have seen the reviews of the new DD line you realized that by going up in tiers, the strength of the new line gets weaker and weaker - by the time you reach the T8-T10 radar heavy environment the impact of the new line will be very little - especially if you play RADAR cruisers.

The DD spam has to stop

Isn't it remarkably funny that at any point in time there is a "spam issue" for certain players in this game. Up till few weeks ago the house was loud for months with the BB spam issue. and now that WG finally did something to end that comes the next complaint: the DD spam... Who on Earth forces you to play DD if you do not want to? I for myself explored DDs during "BB spam times" and now I'm shifting my attention to cruisers that are good to hunt DDs... With a little thinking anybody can take advantage of the general crowd's tendencies.
  9. Well it is no surprise that after a new line release the queue fills up with that especially at low tiers. Unfortunately for us WoWs DEVs are stuck with the idea of releasing one tech tree line at a time therefore every player interested in the new release focuses into the same area. It will die out in a few days / weeks and we get back to "normal" - more so whatever normal means in these days... Since the tech trees are there forever my strategy after new releases is to pick a different tech tree that is the hunter of the new introduction (i.e. against DDs now I focus on a cruiser line), so I have a lot of prey around me :-) Obviously doing this makes me develop "new" lines later - but who cares. Being a casual player I can't devote anyways enough time to develop all tech trees. So for me now is CRUiSER time :)

    Indianapolis - still at Sea...

Well, it may seem a pay-wall for the flag, that many players find insulting and/or rip-off, but the one thing to consider is that FLAGs are so far are only visuals and cosmetics. As long as WG keeps it like that I have absolutely no issue as how they price them. To be honest compared to other game publishers WG is more on the "fair" side in terms of paid content strategy. Many other publishers are trying to "lure in" players for mandatory paid content (i.e. lootboxes giving in-game items that are needed to win/progress). For collectors the Admiral Bundles is indeed not a good choice as even if you get doublons for the ship if you have it in port and MORE doublons in the package you can't use them efficiently in the game. (signal flags maybe). However if you consider players who invest into the game through premium ships the Admiral bundle is a good deal: as you get the premium ship that will generate Elite XP and you get doublons in the package to convert it to FreeXP, signal flags in the package will boost the capacities even further. And if clever players wait for a 35:1 conversion discount they can do a nice deal out of it... MAYBE one day WG will introduce a kind of "Marketplace" for WoWs inside the game thought which cosmetic elements can be traded...? You have seen it somewhere else, haven't you? :-)

    Ranked Battles?

Well what I heard from Youtubers is that WG is planning to rotate the Clan Battles and Ranked Battles concept, therefore it will be less Ranked seasons in future years than before. The reasoning was to limit the pressure on competitive players to participate in events... ..don't understand exactly how they imagined it but as usual we will see as the things develop - WG is poor at communication.
  12. Dear WG, Just a simple question: when it is said that you are an international company, why on Earth it is not possible for the EU players to participate in such a great charity event????? Save USS Texas with Project VALOR: https://worldofwarships.com/en/news/common/dont-mess-with-uss/
  13. I guess you wanted to say that this topic can be closed SOON(TM) - we yet to see if the EU participation gets real or not? :-)
  14. Could you please not divert the topic from its original intent - to draw attention to a WoWs US event that deserves to be international in my opinion. The direction of who needs what kind of charity or donation as source of funds is an entirely different and very sensitive subject.
  15. BTW: I have nothing against having EU charities as well, the main point is that server clusters should not limit player participation. funny isn't it, that our game WoWs is powered by an engine called "BigWorld" and yet in many cases we are locked down in our small "continent" clusters... :-)

    Halloween Skin Purchasing

I liked the camos in the mission so I decided to get some prem shop containers after having opened the in-game mission rewards one. Purchased the 5 containers option first and inside were 2 skins. (40% chance) Since I was more driving towards the Tirpitz camo I went ahead for the 25 containers assuming the "camo chance" will be similar - and it was. Basically I got almost all the camos, and since there was one duplicate with the previous round I got 2500 doublons. To my great surprise 4 containers out of the 25 had 20,000FreeXP - considering the value of this as well I concluded that the deal was good. Last but not least I repeat the learning that wasn't even obvious for me before: Wargaming is very thoughtful of the in-game battle experience: the option to switch on/off the custom skin visibility is a very very good and user friendly feature. Thanks for it!

    Musashi specifications

Sister ships yes with almost identical design. However Musashi was the second one to get finished and it got special upgrades vs. Yamato to be capable of operating as a Fleet Admiral ship. Its interior design accommodated the necessary rooms, spaces and communication that a fleet admiral requires - this is because once Musashi joined the operating fleet the Admirals used that this as Fleet Admiral base when in port. (most of the time during WW2) This has no impact on the game unfortunately - however I could think of a special skill for this ship that may represent this "Fleet Admiral role" for example: any friendly ships in 10km range from Musashi gets 10% more concealment or 10% more AA power or something similar. pssst. do not say this loud or WG may turn this ship into another Heavy Cruiser BB like Conqueror... :-D
  20. it3llig3nc3

Belfast - To keep or to sell ?

The good answer from my point if view: it depends on the player's situation. For a collector type player the smoke change will not impact the historical purchase decision - so "keep" is a logical choice For an average player who bought the ship without understanding and focusing on its specific strength it is a "keep" or "sell" depending on his/her new experience with the ship after the smoke change --> personal decision For an informed player who bought the ship with understanding its strengths and used that in play excessively the logical decision is to "sell" because it will no longer be able to deliver same results For a good player that is also well informed about the game meta and the ship specialties it is a probable "keep" as he/she may find the new optimal way to play it under the new circumstances. I disagree partly: I own and like Minotaur and that ship without the ability to shoot from smoke without getting detected is becoming very vulnerable. I know its in-smoke visibility is low (5.6km), but that is just enough to get spotted by a passing by enemy DD so your position is compromised and suddenly you need to save yourself. This is an extra strain that I would not want to bear. This is why I'm angry with WG that Brit cruiser line Prem CAMOs does not get refunded!
  21. it3llig3nc3

    remboursement

I wanted to open a topic on this subject myself but instead I join this one. My opinion is exactly the same as the topic starter - the GOOD thing is that WG does not hide the fact that Prem Ships are suffering from smoke change. The BAD thing is that what they offer is not "cash back", but a reimbursement of doublons that is still an in-game item: so nobody is able to EXIT with the cash from the game just can re-invest it into something else. Financially this is not a refund, it is just a discount on future purchases. The main point is: what if somebody certainly does not want to do future purchases into World of Warships? Second point that is kinda related: I expected that for the Brit cruiser line the CASH BACK will apply to premium CAMOs. This is because no matter how you look at the game Minotauir for example won't be played like before and if someone liked that ship and purchased prem camo for 5000 doublons it is now a lost money. For this I'm really disappointed and angry.
  22. It is funny how quickly the topic shifted from the FEATURE about having Prem Ship tryout to "what would be MY favorite Prem Ship to try out". I'm glad to see that WG is testing the Prem Ship tryout feature. After making it 100% evident that in Clan Battles they developed the ability to rent ships to players it was an obvious step. There is a long time Soon(TM) promise from WG to give WoWs players some tools to try Prem ships before buying them. (as there is no refund in case you started to use them) So this is good - I hope it comes sooner than later to EU - unless the "Very Clever WGEU Management" wants to "save" us from this just like they tried with Xmas Convoy... Main point is that especially higher tier Prem Ships are just as expensive as a full boxed game - so there must be a way for players to get a taste of the ship before making a purchase decision. Big question is: based on what logic the Prem Ships will be offered? How will the system know what to offer and WHEN? Instead of quasi random selection (that is in fact a "Big Data" marketing behavior calculation) I would prefer to get a "voucher" from time to time that could be used to try one Prem Ship of my selection. I'm OK with the idea to limit the tryout to 5 Random Battles after which I have to decide if I want to keep it and pay or give it back.

1st nerf of Conqueror and Lion published

Just found this thread. First thing comes to my mind is the good old saying "There is truth, there is lie and there is statistic". In this particular case I'm hesitant to take WG's analysis at face value as they control the data out of which the statistics is create therefore they have high room to maneuver and collect data points that prove their political position. (Is it the full set of data and analysis that drives the conclusion or is there a conclusion for which you seek evidence in data) Since I haven't reached the Conqueror yet, I still can't judge it being OP or not. My in-game experience so far is that whenever and wherever a Conqueror (or even Lion) shows up all enemy players are focusing on them. I do not recall that any of the battles I played where won or lost due to a high Tier BN BB activity. With that said and having played a Lion for a while I can see that these ships are way too durable especially when obvious mistakes are made and also the HE impact on the meta is undeniably disturbing. Having seen Flamu's recent rant video on Conqueror in which he practically burned down a Montana in the first 5 minutes of the battle DESPITE THE FACT that the Montana Captain played clever (did not do mistakes, managed its repair capability optimal) I can see that in able hands these Brit high tier BBs can be overwhelmingly OP. I can only thank God (and not WG) that many BB players even in Brit BBs are staying away from the center of the map and sniping from distance - that is the stupid play. Without these brain dead BB players the current meta would be far more unbearable.

    RN BB NERF(rebalance) incomming?

Looking at your portal profile you seem to be more a cruiser player than a BB. (out of 1475 battles, 175 played with BBs, your highest tier BB is T6) Based on this I'm not sure you are judging the BB tech trees correctly especially when it comes to high tier experience. Most BB lines are changing dynamic and play style around T8 and it is especially true for the Brits. Therefore you may enjoy Brit BBs up till T6 / T7, even if the high tier ones are not looking good enough for you. As for the Brit top tier BB Conqueror I cannot say anything as I haven't played that one yet - I'm trying now the Lion T9 that is a very difficult experience for me: it has huge advantages, but also huge disadvantages therefore adapting my style to play it efficiently is a challenge. I strongly suggest that you try high tier BB experience with any nation first to establish some understanding of the environment. As for myself I voted for Yamato as being my 1st Tier X ship, but it was more due to historical factors than actual game play. All I can say now that I did not regret it at all, including the journey to get there (this with the note that I skipped Izumo)

OKTYABRSKAYA REVOLUTSIYA in the shop & mission

Thanks God I'm having a personal policy of not using Russian ships in this game until all more significant historical nations are properly represented - because I might consider this. But no thanks.
