How do you force people to do what you want?
it3llig3nc3 replied to fallenkezef's topic in General Discussion
A few months ago there was an idea raised here on the forum (sorry I forgot who made it) to demotivate sniping BB attitude from the "far beyond". I liked it very much, but of course WG ignored it. It was something alongside the idea to increase the accuracy of guns if they are aimed at a ship that is standing still or moving very slowly (i.e. reversing). Therefore snipers hiding back could get hit more often and as such it would motivate them to keep moving... Honestly it would be very easy to implement as it only takes to temporarily adjust the SIGMA value of the guns in those situations that are exact to calculate (i.e. aim is locked on a ship moving less than 50% of its max speed) -
Reading these Kaga threads it makes me understand how deeply this carrier class is broken in the game. Unlike with other ship classes here the "DIFFERENTIATOR" of the nations, ships is the size of the squad, number of planes in the squad, their tier, and the number of squads you can have from each plane type. This is not reasonable. It is like if you would carefully plan in the PORT for your cruiser how many HE and AP shells you want to carry and into which turret you load them up. Or for DDs to estimate number of torps to be taken on board vs. shells. the CARRIER GAME MODEL is wrong this way. Kaga is just a great magnifier of the problems the class has. There has been many simple and complex improvements proposed to improve the situation but until then it only found deaf ears at WG. wonder why...
-
One objective WG has achieved - players are TALKING about CVs now.... :-) If nothing else this helps a bit to get more statistic and information on this broken class and what the community thinks. ...and Enterprise is coming also Soon... What I really need to know if WG will do something serious rework with the carriers this year or just cash out the prem carriers and walks away with the minor control scheme update they delivered already...????? As for Kaga - I'm tempted but resisted so far. I'm very much interested in CV play but I do rarely. I only got to Tier VII Hiryu and now jumped to Tier IX, so I could use a Captain Trainer for the line - but Kaga is controversial.
-
I purchased it knowing that Tier VI MM is terrible. Yet I enjoy playing it - but to be honest I play it rarely. I wanted a IJN Prem BB to to have my Yamato Captain develop more aggressively (double daily wins...). Funny thing is that many players forget about the TORP capability of this ship and get surprised... Other than that it is average ship for me - but once the player went through the IJN BB line like myself, it is pretty evident how this Mutsu needs to be handled when up tiered.

Before anyone buys a Prem Ship it is strongly advised to look around on the internet for reviews and opinions. Many community contributors posts for example YOUTUBE videos with various opinions and highlights. With regards to Hood most of them agree that it is an "OK" ship with some advantages (i.e. tankyness) and some disadvantages (gun accuracy) In Tier VII where this ship sits it is expected from the players to know "their own style" and to be able to identify if a certain ship fits that or not. Blind purchase for a Tier VII ship is a bad consumer decision and nobody but the player has to be blamed for it.

On what USN ship are you having your "Steven Seagal" captain?
it3llig3nc3 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Of course I fully agree that super kills shouldn't be introduced to throw off balance. However class specific skills might be good. Halsey could get some special CV skills or let's say give him the skill to retain all training he got on different carriers - so switching him around CVs wouldn't cost re-training? Kind of "Premium Captain" Well of course... soon... But again - Segal was introduced almost a year ago? Besides - I wouldn't mind if we could get these special Captains through missions, campaigns or events... -
to the prev. two posts: pls do not be off topic. The purpose of this thread is to ask questions from WG, not to comment each other's opinion. Additional Question to the carrier class points I raised earlier: Does WG agree with the following statement and if not why? In my opinion one major striking evidence of the deep problem of the carrier class is that carrier tiers cannot be mixed, like the other ship classes (i.e. matchmaking must ensure Tier equality for carriers). This is because the balance and power of the carriers is calculated in such way that one tier difference immediately causes so much advantage and disadvantage that is VERY DIFFICULT (if impossible) to counterbalance with player skill. I suggest this as a "TEST" criteria to determine if the carrier class is fixed or not.

it3llig3nc3 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Wow... I thought that myself putting Segal on Arkansas Beta was a kind of unique thing, but here we go... ...I'm not alone. It seems to me that many people decides the fate of Segal based on personal love or hate regarding the actor and not his special properties in the game... When he was introduced I had hopes that REAL historical Captains or more Admirals will come on board with special unique skillset - but this does not seem to be the case. Who doesn't want to work with William "Bull" Halsey, Isoroku Yamamoto or to be actual with the Bismarck Campaign: John Cronyn Tovey...? -
I would like to get some more clarification on this "fixing the carrier class" issue. While there has been some user interface changes done to improve CV play, the class' behavior and play parameters has not been changed at all. Despite hundreds of recommendations and ideas even on this very Forum regarding the future of the carrier class remained uncommented by WG staff. I'm among the few who become surprised and disappointed at the same time when learned about the new Premium CV releases - as it indeed indicated that WG believes the "class is fixed" Suspecting the WG DEVs are working with a so called "Agile" methodology, what I would like to know is if there are any major items in the Developer Backlog related to carriers and if so with what priority level? More speficically are there any ideas approved into the backlog to. A) Alter the currently very inflexible key carrier characteristic? (i.e. fixed flight deck versions, limited nation differentiation factor that is the number of planes in the squad and number of squads) B) Improve the attractiveness of the class to play? Make it either more epic (action oriented) or more strategic? (free up flexibility to make it really look like RTS) Last but not least: does WG officially still believes that the "healthy" population of carrier players is around 10% as it was said from the get go? (that would statistically mean 1 carrier pair in each battle)

My few cents on the core subject - i.e. regional disparity. 1. I'm 100% sure that the fact that regional disparity exists at WG is not a "mistake" or a "misorganization" or "lack of skills", but a conscious strategical decision. A lot of effort needs to be put into the "system" (be it the software, time, procedures and authorizations) to achieve this. 2. As for far out remote locations ("There are reasons why some events and missions aren't handled globally, time zone differences being one of them ") it is to be recognized that good multinational companies see this as an advantage, not a disadvantage. At current level of technology working remotely cannot be an issue. Same goes for time zone differences. Just think about thinking globally. Time zones are your best ally to provide for example 24/7 support as somewhere out of the 3 major continents somebody is awake for sure. Avoid national holidays as when there is one in Europe, it may not be in Asia.... The point of having local offices is not isolation, it is to benefit from them as they are PART OF THE WHOLE 3. In every global company there is a certain level of disparity like it or not. Markets are different, currencies are different, product placement is different. The problem here is that WG goes far beyond fairness and what moral, ethical norms suggest! WG takes the disparity to the very core element of the game: the battlefield itself by seriously limiting certain nation's players to earn the same things with the same invested time and effort! IMHO this is what destroys the image of WG in Europe. 4. To add insult to injury WG not only doing the aboive, but also limits it's player-base to vote with their "feet" - so the free move between regions is limited (--> DENIED). This is very problematic as when a new player joins the region selection is advertised as a pure "comfort" factor for best game experience (network quality) and it is not explained that this choice will impact many other progress elements in the game. your value for your time will be different. Unfortunately for us WG is in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation: if they admit, they have to fix, but probably for strategical reasons they do not want to fix (getting from regional to global is always easier on these things) If they do not admit, the topic will keep raging and eventually it will hit the core player population, will disappoint opinion leaders, therefore the game's reputation will fall and WG will lose $$$ and eventually the game will get deserted. ...but this is a long process....

Basically exactly due to this wicked money monster thinking (i.e. to limit the customer's purchase choices) I decided not to spend a penny on Hood, neither on other premium content until it is clear and evident what will be available for what price.
-
Now that this thread is up - altering the question a bit: the Bismarck you get at the end is a fully equipped Bismarck or only the base hull without any upgrades?
-
I said no for the 1ööEUR package for the following reasons: 1. I do not see how Hood is able to speed up the process of Bismarck Campaign. The Hood only tasks are difficult compared to simple damage or XP grinds - especially the frag ones 2. I'm currently in no big need for booster flags, besides just doing the Bismarck Campaign without the Hood is giving plenty of them and I have a lot on stock all other flags and camos 3. The 12 skillpoint Captain is tempting, but since I have a 19 skillpoint Brit captain and another 14 point, I can skip that - besides as long as you have 1 or more 19 skillpoint captains and you use them there is a lot of FreeCaptainXP that gets generated that can be put on other captains. (12 skillpoint worth 339,000captain XP) 4. Every large WG Premium package includes lots of doublons. However these doublons can be only spent on limited things in game, and new offers, specials and interesting stuff cannot be purchased out of them - so this is money/resource limiter that makes packages expensive. Why park the money in doublons instead of keep the free cash for items you REALLY NEED? 5. There are a lot of upcoming premiums that may be interesting - so spending now 1ööEUR on Hood may cause me to spend more on other ships, instead of remaining a bit patient and get MUCH MORE out of the 1ööEUR budget! 6. I'm no heavy collector so the special camos are not interesting 7. I'm angry a bit at WG as unlike in the Graf Spee and Christmas Convoy the "special ship" (here: Hood) cannot be earned even in a very limited way. (Great Hood ---> Great Money Grab)

So, Hood owners. Your opinions please?
it3llig3nc3 replied to Drunken_Jedi's topic in General Discussion
To this point about making a calculation including "factored in things like how much time I have currently and my desire to complete the hunt for the Bismarck campaign" could you please explain me your logic in this point? I'm asking this as I made this calculation myself and in stark contrast with you I decided NOT to buy the 100EUR Hood package exactly because I did not see that by making this purchase I'll be progressing faster with the Bismarck Campaign. Why: 1. I agree with you that the extra you pay over the value of the ship and doublons is about 30EUR - unless you are a collector and care about the special skins (I'm not) or you need a 12 skillpoint captain (I have a 19), the rest of the goodies are just XP boosters that I have plenty of. 2. I think the "special" Hood tasks are difficult because many of them need a "luck" factor (good MM and good position in the battle) - to me these are the 3 frag missions (BB, Cruiser, DD). Especially in the current meta I find it more difficult to get FRAGs than to play battles and do lot of damage and make lot of XP without worrying especially in a slow reload battleship that I must be the one who puts the last bullet into a given enemy ship 3. Hood is not an exceptionally good ship - therefore I can wait a bit longer to satisfy my "need" to have her in my port because of it's historical significance 4. Problem with WG and WoWs is that getting doublons is less and less appealing - as their spend is limited, and new offers and items are rarely available for in-game purchase, therefore real money put into doublons is kinda limiting your options So if you overpay Hood by 30EUR to speed up your progress in the Bismarck Campaign, why not spend that 30EUR on offers like Captain's Choice in which you get good price for camos for more XP and Prem Time? Also my last consideration for skipping the top package was that there are many other interesting Prems in the pipeline that may need my attention, so my 100EUR budget for the game may get some better use...- 123 replies

Is the "Hunt for Bismark" doable ?
it3llig3nc3 replied to anonym_XGuN6pHmfiJ9's topic in General Discussion
I did not vote as there were no sufficient choices. However I believe that the Campaign is doable, however it has some steep time increase for the later missions. This weekend with the few hours of play and a Prem Account I was able to get to Mission 4. Since there are many DAMAGE and XP driven tasks a high tier BB helps a lot in the progress. I usually play Yamato and Missouri, and only take other classes if a mission specifically needs it (i.e. be the first to spot 2 german ships is easily doable with a carrier) Given the timeframe that is available it is reasonable to complete. I did not buy the Hood and do not plan on buying it for completion of this campaign simply because the special Hood tasks are unfair and much more difficult than others. So spending money to get more difficult missions? no thanks. -
Why Bismarck Mission 1 different on EU than US region
it3llig3nc3 posted a topic in General Discussion
The final Mission 1 completion criteria on the EU portal is win 7 battles and do 120,000 damage On the US portal it is only deal 120,000 damage. This is a significant difference. especially when I haven't noticed differences for other missions (Mission 2-7) I just wonder why WG EU punishes its playerbase with this ridiculously high first mission completion barrier? Or is it a simple typo and the description in the game client will be different? -

confirmed in GAME CLIENT today that the portal article is wrong. You do not need the 7 wins... only the damage -
Little hints for the braincells at work regarding Kaga Point 1 - Asia is AHEAD of time relative to us (Earth Time Zones) Point 2 - look at the Announcement section of May and study what is the theme for this weekend: 20 - 23 May: SPECIAL - Class Spotlight - Carriers Practice mastering the decisive weapon of WWII at sea! Point 3 - Kaga is a carrier Point 4 - WG announces weekend deals and specials on late Friday. ...yet I might be wrong...? tick, tack, tick, tack...

Why Bismarck Mission 1 different on EU than US region
it3llig3nc3 replied to it3llig3nc3's topic in General Discussion
I would like to hope it is translation error, because if it is not you all realize that WG had to develop a different game client version only for this.... ...and such an effort cannot be made "by mistake" -
HMS Hood available on the 19th May
it3llig3nc3 replied to anonym_u5USg8CcK96I's topic in General Discussion
Did anybody notice that while on EU the final Mission 1 unlock criteria is to win 7 battles and do 120,000 damage, on the US server players only have to do 120,000damage that is far more easier. Is it a typo or again WG has double standards? Has anybody noticed other differences? -

it3llig3nc3 replied to anonym_u5USg8CcK96I's topic in General Discussion
Getting more information about the missions is revealing a lot about WG's wicked way of thinking. 1. Interesting to note the MISSION-1 ultimate completion criteria that is to win 7 battles besides doing 120,000 damage. Considering the normal winrate around 50% this means 14 battles with 15 minute averages that is 3.5hours alone. Surprisingly the subsequent Missions have only DEAL XXX DAMAGE criteria climbing from 120,000 to 350,000. Therefore MISSION1 completion criteria looks like to be a "floodgate" that is much tougher to reach than the rest. I wonder why? 2. Hood missions - that are indeed giving a lot of "extra" pins vs. others. Hood tasks in Mission 2,4,5 are frag missions (CA, BB, DD respectively) that will certainly have difficulties - while doable they are carefully crafted progress barriers. 3. It is remarkable how significant is the PIN number that is achievable with XP earning (and if we can believe in the text it is not baseXP but global XP) - nice motivation to buy premium time, premium camos and the new booster flags. eh? -

it3llig3nc3 replied to anonym_u5USg8CcK96I's topic in General Discussion
To me this is the key part of the Bismarck mission description What this suggest to me is that the Bismarck campaign was designed to be "grindy" to complete on the normal way, but if you throw money in (i.e. buy the Hood) you can accelerate the process. If this holds true this is not so terrible, but yet bad news to make such an obvious money grab. I say it is good, because in this case it won't be a kind of "pay to win" situation where you get a strong ship for your money, more a "pay to progress faster", that is a reasonable approach to casual players who has money to "buy time", so instead of spending a lot of time in the game, they reach the same result with less time invested. So Bismarck is "free" for players willing to play a lot, and kind of costly (VERY!), but achievable for rich casual players. Small reminder: looking at the "special flags" offered, they are also geared towards casual players who cannot play a lot: all flags are practically insane progress boosters that are highly valuable for players coming to play only a few battles per day (or week) but want to progress to higher tiers... The other side of the coin is where I say this is BAD: It is bad, because the staggered release of premium bundles is devil's marketing strategy. This is unfair and looking at the forum posts I guess that WG did the math wrong: they would have made much more money had they allowed the players to buy the "Hood only" package from the get go, than this staggered way. Overall: I see that WG identified two player groups whom they want to care: 1. Hardcore frequent players who throws in a lot of time and effort into the game but do not buy a lot of stuff - all recent campaigns, events, etc. can be done by them 2. Casual rich players who like the game, but have little time and fat wallet to pay for their enthusiasm. What I'm very afraid of that these player groups are in certain ways extremes of the player population - so WG is getting farther away pleasing the "average joe", and thus WG pushes the game to stagnation and decline. -
Completed yesterday - Captain Baguette (will be Captain Grand Baguette only with 19skillponts) is on board! This was the first chain of missions for a long time I have been able to fully complete. (I was close last week, but not being a good CV captain and only having Tier VII carriers the last mission was too tough to crack.) What you have to recognize that this weeks mission chain is relatively easy - to me this is more a French Cruiser Promotion than a hardcore weekly chain mission with increased difficulty. Remember? there were missions to gain medium skill level captains for all new nations right before or after when they got introduced. I was kinda expecting a French Captain giveaway... NOTES: It is remarkable that all the 5 missions are possible to reasonably complete with mid tier ships - so you do not need to bring in the "big guns" of Tier X. The torpedo mission (4) delivered me a great surprise - after being dumb as a leg of a chair and "completed" it with my Kamikaze R only to realize that you need a Tier VI+ ship, I decided to try a new DD flavor:Japanese Shiratsuyu. That ship I like very much and completed the mission with the 2nd try.

Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]
it3llig3nc3 replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
As promised earlier my stats after opening 55 containers (let e know if more details is needed) 21 was "Try Your Luck" 9 was "More Credits" 4 was "More Consumables" 21 was "More Flags" Results: 2 of the "Try Your Luck" were SC-s --> 1000doublon --> Smoke Generator Mod 1 All the rest were normal picks of various flags, 50k creditos, and a few times 500FreeXP It is worth to mention that "Try Your Luck" containers gave me some "non-standard" things: --> Ocean Soul Camo (2pieces) -->Restless Fire Camo (2pieces) -->Halloween Camo (2pieces) For normal containers the trends were very simple: flags came in a 3x 4 piece of various flags, consumables in a 2 or 3 times 3pieces. Overall I'm rather disappointed with the SCs. -
My observation is that it has two phases: First it shows your precise ship vs. a "standard" enemy ship. But after the comparison ship gets fully loaded (the load indicator circle next to the ship becomes filled (dot) it shows the precise enemy configuration.
