Actually yes, because you're confusing the concept of Royal Navy ship with the concept of British ship. OP asked about RN ships, and while you're right about the ships I mentioned being US-built and US-designed (and thus technologically very different from their British counterparts), many ships of those classes had seen extensive WWII service with the Royal Navy. On the other hand Kongo, while was designed by a British naval architect and built by Vickers in the UK, shares many technologies with contemporary RN battleships, but has no Royal Navy connections.

Several Wickes and Clemson-class destroyers, as well as many Bogue-class carriers served in the Royal Navy during WWII, so you can play some RN ships as F2P player until the tree arrives, though the selection is extremely limited.

There's also an option to sell the upgrades with the ship. It doesn't costs real money and you recover half of the credits spent on them, while with destruction you lose your investment.

Install Aslain's ModPack as you usually do. After installation check if there is a scripts_config.xml file in your \res_mods\0.5.0.0\ folder. If there isn't you just copy it from the region changer archive and you're all set. If there is things get a bit more complicated. Assuming you don't now how to extract the relevant data from one .xml file and add it to the other, the "low-tech" solution would be to individually switch off mods from Aslain's pack to find out which one is using the scripts_config.xml file. After that is up to you to decide what's more important to you, the incompatible mod or the region changer. Good luck!
