The need to read patch notes may be one of the reasons not so many flocking to the game lately. I get that almost everyone here in the forum knows it(although mine is not the only surprised reaction) but as I said including this info in the exchange event and make a warning about it ingame would have been a way to go, taking into account the more casual or newer players with different point of view and wouldnt be a bad idea especially as this is a significant thing. Keeping a community of people who regularly read through "patch notes" and adapting to that group is great, but why not also get a way to keep things simple and predictable in the major changes for the potential new player population. The result are the numbers and need to motivate the lower player base to play faster with the same ship over and over again in the latest patch. Nevermind of course, just saying... :-)

I apparently do read some patch notes as that is is how i found out. The exchange event description was where this information was missing though. I dont read the notes when i am not playing that much and i dont always play but this was something relatively important for everyone i think. I am sure there are lot of people more involved with the game, long term veterans of the game, regulars at forum etc. who are fully aware of all the coming changes. But my point is that this is kind of uncomfortable especially for the newer players, as the well informed veterans dont care anyway having all the FXP ships for a long time in the dock. Does WG believe new players can start the game at the moment and is it doing to get and keep any? If it did a better job at it maybe it wouldnt have to try to compensate for the lack of players by desperately trying to make the current ones play more by making the ships battle in multiple battles(I dont like this much otherwise, sort of takes some of the magic of the port with some ships out buts its obvious why such change comes). WG focuses on squeezing the old veteran population to play and pay a little bit more but does little for making the game attractive for new players. Doesnt really matter that much but its but its a nice game - shame if it dies out.

Thats for sure, but if the WG really believed there are some voluntary new or returning players, it would have been very easy to just say - "ok, here is the exchange event and btw make sure to plan your strategy well, because remember, the FE will be quite useless after the next patch..."'. That would have been polite and targeted at the newer players who dont have all the FE ships yet and who might not have caught what someone said half a year ago. That would have saved some unnecessary game frustration and maybe create more enthusiasm to continue playing.

Well, I am a newish player returning recently after months so for me this is the first time i hear about it. Grinding FE for the ship was my goal now so I am pretty disappointed, especially while there was the exchange event last week and not a single notice about these changes came with it...

Tech tree free XP ships only for coal??? Shame you didnt tell us before the exchange event was over, thumbs down. I ve been saving it ffro Azumo and now my 700k FE is basically useless, could have at least use it to buy the Tashkent thing with it. Give me a break really...
