Wollt ihr XVM für World of Warships?
Hein_Bloed replied to schadowhunter's topic in Allgemeine Diskussionen
Neuen Account anlegen. Einen Tier 3 Premiumpanzer kaufen und fahren. Nach etwa 100 Spielen wird das RNG justiert. -
Wollt ihr XVM für World of Warships?
Hein_Bloed replied to schadowhunter's topic in Allgemeine Diskussionen

There was a plan to replace the basic Armament with the 2*3 11 or 3*3 11 Inch Guns (Deutschland-Class and Scharnhorst-Class) with 2*2 15 Inch Guns or 3*2 15 Inch. Also the 4 5.9 Inch guns from the secondary Armament are not so bad. Glass Cannon is a good imagination for it.

The German Z 1934 are not really good ships for the rought sea of northern atlantic. The Bowdesign was bad. They took a lot of water in rought sea, that cause a lot of defects. The heavy looses of the battle of Narvik could never be restored during the war.

There were a lot of decissions made bei KM, that turns out to be wrong. First the design of the CV with 16*15 cm Sk Guns. That guns where not able to target Aircrafts, need a loot of Ammo and Space within the ship. The Idea behind was the selfdefence against DD and CL. Same strategy like PocketBS every thing what is faster must be attacked, everything what was stronger she should run away. But a CV ist very vulnerable for gun fire, so even a DD can easily attack a CV. The summary of aircraft compare to the british CV where equal. The quality in 1940 was above them. In 1940, some ports in France were available, so together with a heavy cruiser from Hipper-Class and a few DD, it were a strong force, supporting the Subs by hunting. Ju87 are good bombers, BF109T 1940 version realy good Fighter, FI 167 is compare to the Fairy Swordfisch. The AA defence were 1940 fare the enough but at this time standart. I think the Sk Guns were later rmoved, also new aircrafts are available, the catapults are also a big advantage and disadvantage. They can launch heavier Aircrafts the the non catapult carrier, but they can not so fast launch Aircrafts. The later Ideas and stronger AA def could prove her as a succesfull design, together with the second CV in the atlantik a nice Taskforce.

This hart to say. The basic planes in 1940 BF109 T and Ju87 are quite good. I could imagine what 5 BF109 does with Fairy Swordfish. But for a carrier they had less airplanes. Around 30 and main gunnery like a light Cruiser. If the Graf Zeppelin has survived the first 2 years, there was a plan to remove the main gunnery, adding more AA guns and increase the capacity for Aircrafts.

Kriegsmarine – Deutschland class ‘pocket battleship’
Hein_Bloed replied to PanzerGert's topic in Age of Armour Warships
At the time the Deutschland-Class was planed, they were one of the best "heavy cruisers". Better range on main guns, better round of fire per minute, turret was able to reload without turning in zero position. Fast enought to outmanouver bigger oponence and more powerfull to success over faster oponence. The diesel engines give them a exelent operation range. The Turret can also replaced with 15 inch Guns from the Bismarck-Class... so the Idea of a toolkit system was also in plan. At 1939 they were no longer the best one in there class but still a good design idea. -
I think the Yamato is a "legend" because it was the biggest battleship, that served in a navy in WW2. It has the biggest guns and it never got a fight BB v. BB. So it is the fantasy of a fight like Hood v. Bismarck here. Iowa v. Yamato, who will made it. That is the "legend" behint.

HMS Queen Elizabeth - British Aircraft Carrier class 2014
Hein_Bloed replied to Raider_'s topic in Modern Warships
F-104 Starfighter was a political affair. The lost of aircrafts was mainly caused by a lag of experice and training by pilots and ground crews and a hell of a difficult to take off and land aircraft. Also the single engine only design was a problem. But every pilot, who flyed it, love it.- 63 replies

Improved Prinz Eugen Heavy Cruiser
Hein_Bloed replied to Smederevac94's topic in Age of Armour Warships
I think it is a logical step. They planed it also for Scharnhorst and Gneisenau. Put away the tripple 11 inch and mount the 15 inch double turrets. It was not done, because Gneisenau was badly damage and Scharnhorst was sunk before. Improving the firepower was always a goal for the Kriegsmarine. On the DD they try to replace the 5 inch with 5.9 inch in twin turrets, but it was a mistake, due to a bad behavior in rough sea. -
German Aircraft Carrier Graf Zeppelin
Hein_Bloed replied to Purgafox's topic in Age of Armour Warships
Thats right. They responsible Persons in the planing department where old fasioned people... thinking about bigger Guns etc. The planed Aircrafts for the Carriers were real good ones. If I think about what a BF 109 do with a Fairy Swordfish... Also early plans for less fighters and more bombers had change later. 2 Carriere like this are able to kill a taskforce. Able to launch Bombers like the Ju87 or other relative heavy planes. Also guided Bombs like FritzX..- 20 replies

The elusive H series of German battleships
Hein_Bloed replied to Banelord300's topic in Age of Armour Warships
There are a lot of urban myths about Nazi projects... But every ship biger then a heavy cruiser were stopped building, when it not ready to serve till 1940. So every capital ship, that was planed, was just planed on paper for later Projects. Only in 1942 Aircraft carrier were started to finished or converted. Rest of Shipyard capacitys were used for Submarines and Destroyer. -
The elusive H series of German battleships
Hein_Bloed replied to Banelord300's topic in Age of Armour Warships
Nazi Germany never had rescources to contruct atom bombs. They have some small reactors to check the ability to produce ernergy. Weapon of mass destruction were there. Chemical weapons had been ready, but never used. I will not think about what had happend, when a city like London was bombed with Sarin or C-Los bombs. There was an Idea to used nuclear power for powering ships... -
A was completted but not fitted and combat ready. B was layed down 1938 and scrapped 1940.

The elusive H series of German battleships
Hein_Bloed replied to Banelord300's topic in Age of Armour Warships
And all bombers from all parties bring bombs to civilian in WW2. Coventry, Dresden etc... Such attacks bring more death in one night, then all V Weapons together. A buch of B-17 or He 111 are also terror weapons, when used again civilians... All the main partys from WW2 where mass-murderer. -
There was proved on the Modell, that a rebalance of Fighter / Bomber among increase the capacity to 50 Airplanes. I think in combat, they had switched then toward more Anti-AA batteries and more Fighters.
-
I do not think that the "Flugzeugträger A+B" are weak. The quality of the Aircraft are similar to the German land based Aircrafts. The catapults make them able to launsch also relativ heavy planes. First planed 1939 was 10 BF 109T. Compare to the Aircrafts of British Carriers Ark Royal , Fairey Fulmar, the British Fighters are outclassed. Also the Ju87 C is an excelent Dive Bomber. About the Fi 167 Recon/Torpedo Bomber I'm not shure, because it never see real combat. For 1943 Change to a better Version of the Ju87 and the Me155. Me 155 was not finished but I think a good Aircraft. 42 Aircrafts good Aircrafts are not bad at all.

In Germany it's allowed to show nazi symbols in a historical right manner. If you want to see one of the relicts from this gigantism, just visit the "Kraft durch Freude" (KdF) coastal resort in Prora on the island Rügen. REAL BIG and ugly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prora -
The elusive H series of German battleships
Hein_Bloed replied to Banelord300's topic in Age of Armour Warships
I think this ideas were not legends. I picture and planes are easy to draw. But Hitler had realized early, that the time for big ships were gone. They stopped the production of big ships (including the CV) and reuse the Materials for submarines. Because the submarines do the job, that the heavy ships missed. Also the Luftwaffe was not able to help the Kriegsmarine, because the lag of long range recon aircraft and torpedo bombers. With the Fritz-X and Henschel Hs 293 bombs they have a good weapon again ships, but to late to change the tide. Such decission from persons like Hitler or Göring makes the differense. -

Bigger is better was a maniac Idea of some people around Hittler. The only realy tested Bigger is Better solution was the MAUS. But only 2 prototypes for testing in end of 1944. Realistic ideas takes place, like the Typ XXI submarines. They influences all later submarine designs.
