Well, from what I remember, I recall seeing much more NewMex's than Fusos. The ranges where the engagements take place are well inside the NewMex's boosted range, and the Fuso's pretty high detection may even be kind of a hindrance. I for one would probably take the Fuso because I don't find her all that squishy), I have her available and because sh has better reload and speed (and better gun subdvision) than NewMex. All in all, I've just wasted a couple of words to say that they may actually be well balanced both for ranked, depending on style.

I wouldn't question my knowledge of english, Martalóc, I seem to be speaking it way better than you do. I know what the word threaten means, and you "saying" just matter-of-factly that any other posts in hungarian on my part are going to be "BigBadVuked" was kind of a direct threat, even if unsubstantiated. It's funny, noone ever levels anger or frustration or threats against me but hungarian players. I wonder why that may be (reporting culture much? Where's the honour in that one?). Also I would suggest you check your spelling and punctuation more often (yes, I am going to go therte like I had nothing more to say. Oh and I almost forgot: I don't care how you play the Zao, but words like "cowardly" are as invalid as they are stupid. They most often used by people who think that honour can justify stupidity just because. And I didn't call you out on your direct individual performance, which at 50%+ isn't actually bad, I called you out on the fact that you called a player better than you "a stupid person ranting". Which are pretty big words... I'll get back to you when I get to the Zao on matters concerning the ship, but from what I've seen so far, I'm pretty confident I'm gonna be able to do consstently well with her. I now consider this matter closed.

I thought the NewMex was the mainstay of ranked T6 with range mod. I guess the slow speed is limiting though...

I like her alright, but I just can't manage to get her to work. Last two games I had with the Indy, I haven't managed to pass over 30k damage. That annoys me a lot.- 37 replies

"same in english" oké? (guidelines state that if you *must* make a post in native, then provide translation. And please threaten me again, that feels so nice.)

"It's hard to understand why you're crying in the first place. The fact that the Zao isn't to be played like you would like it doesn't make the ship bad, and calling out people for playing safely to win instead of heroically stupidly is a little risqué. Also suggest you call mtm out when your stats surpass his..."

No, I think I didn't explain myself well. I think a well-balanced prem ship should be interchangeable with at least one regular ship of the tier, and should not outperform the benchmark regular cruiser by a lrage margin if at all. Right now I think the Molotov is more or less interchangeable with the Aoba, which has the edge in single shell performance and armour (haven't looked up the DPM figures yet, may do that yet), but for example the Indy is probably better than any or all the T7 regular CA's currently in the game. About the Pensacola, I really thing that her true potential will be unlocked only once her retarded detection range is fixed (or until I get CE on her cpt ), until then she's in a constant state of handicap

Yeah, I had a few TR's last night (mainly was doing gun testing, but 60' is a lot of time eh), where I compared Pepsi and Indy. I must say, Indy is dragging her feet a lot more when it comes to course change. That said, from the front she IS more tanky, so while you may not be able to dodge fire the same way you can with Pepsi, you can soak it.I have done bow in tactics like never before with the Indy, and I must say, she's been effective at that. It's not as exciting or fun as the weave&dodge of the Pepsi, but it's effective.- 37 replies

That still doesn't mean that it's easy to use. You can get spanked very hard very early if you don't watch out, and the general skill level in ranked is higher than in randoms. Not to mention the different meta.

Ships moored in port and scrolling over them would be... endless fun. -

I can still step in for basics in cruisers if you'll take me/need me -
The fact is, that while I'm happy with how the balancing of preium ships is at the moment (it gives me a much higher incentive to lay down actual money for them), I have to say that I disagree with it to a certain degree. Why? Because it is basically restrictive. What I mean by that is that you don't get to go and grind out the best T-something ship, you get to buy it. What if you don't have to money? Well, tough luck. there are no, or very few, non-paying alternatives to premium ships upwards of, say, T6 T7. A very good alternative to the Molotov in my opinion is the Aoba. Is one better than the other? Yes and no. The Molotov is better than the Aoba in that she out-earns her significantly. The Aoba is better than the Molotov in that she has better armour and torps. Firepower-wise I'd say they are pretty evenly matched even discounting the better penetration of the Molotov. Now that is a good example of a prem ship compared to a non-prem ship on a tier. What is a rather bad example is the newest prem CA in the game, Indianapolis (and to a certain extent, Atago). She does almost everything better than her peers on the tier. While the Myoko is widely regarded as the best support CA on the tier, she cannot be driven as offensively due to the turret layout and rotation as the Indy. While the Yorck has okay range and turret rotation, she has next to no armour, meaning she gets spanked every time anyone with guns bigger than 130mm look at her. While the Pepsi would be a pretty well-playable offensive CA due to her turret rotation and maneuverability, she can't because she gets outspotted by some BB's in her MM slot. Indy doesn't have any of those shortcomings, and she offers more: She has a forward-stacked gun arrangement, which actually allows for offensive gameplay and tankiness. The only other CA on the tier that can tank (Myoko) can't be offensive about it, because the turret layout doesn't allow it.

The Atago is basically a true multirole CA on a tier where you don't have many of those running around. Sure, the NO has good AP and is tanky from the front, but if it has to rely on its HE, it's really not that well off. You've got the Hipper which is pretty much the same story only she's got even better AP and even worse HE. They can both deal with cruisers and broadside BB's pretty well. Chapayev and MK? Forget it. They are basically HE slingers, but that doesn't really do them any good against well-driven BB's and CA's. They can hurt DD's a lot, but seriously, a well-driven CA can do the same. They stand out of the crowd statwise, in an ideal world they probably wouldn't. Mogami? Meh. She gets whacked by anything bar DD guns with ease. Sure, HE is great and AP is decent, just like on the Atago, but due to how very squishy the ship is, she is relegated to a pseudo-support role (not easy when you've got the lowest range of any CA on the tier...). The Atago? Well. She's tanky from the front and the rear, at those angles she can only be citadelled by direct hits from 15 and 16 inch guns (I mean 14" guns need to hit really smack-bang perfect to do an actual citadel from the front), and cruisers bar the Roon, Hiddenbruger and Moskva will only do significant damage firing into the sides of the ship, and a very flat one at that. Sure, the AP pen and norm' are a bit weak for 8" guns, but you can'T very well have the best HE rounds and very good AP at the same time, now can you? The AP is still going to put the hurt into the boradside of any cpt stupid enough to show it, plus a few lower-tier CA's that don't have that much armour to begin with. You can outspot any CA on your tier (no, really, look it up), and while you may not be able to outrange them, the only ship more maneuverable than her is the NO (or so it seems to me from experience). I seriously think that this ship would be very good even w/o a heal, which just makes her separate from the crowd.
-
Looks like you never met a decent player in an Atago then. My 61% WR in the Atago speaks volumes to how good the ship really is. The fact that you met idiots doesn'T mean it's a bad ship, in fact, having played both the Mogami and the Atago I'd take the Atago any day of the week, and not just because of the heal, but also because of how much better she seems to be standing up to enemy fire.

This. It's a very good support ship, but not much else.

St Nazaire, Scapa Flow, things like that. -
Traded maneuverability for armour and range and some detectability. Not sure I'm all okay with that... Had some nasty moments.
