My view on necroing is that if it's okay to revive a defunct/concluded thread if the circumstances of the discussed topic change, especially if it was a substantial and constructive thread, while reacting on year-old OP's which state something that has since become obscolete info is the bad kind of necro. Use search is usually an argument I see when people open a thread on a ship or other topic that has been established and unchanged for some time.

Not completely moot because a gyro can't compensate for everything and a ship has more movement axes than a tank for example. Early gyroscopic stabilisation didn't even rely on keeping the guns pointedonto target at all times, but rather used a "stable vertical" system where the gyroscope would be aligned onto a vertical position while the ship was in drydock or otherwise tied down, and would allow fire when the ship was within a set range of divergence from that vertical. When the gun plot was completed, elevations and leads set, they would pull the "automatic trigger" which would fire the guns when the ship reached the stable vertical point in its movement. In other words, the difference between tank stabs and ship stabs was that the tank guns are fully stabilised, while ship guns were actually not. Today of course with ship guns rarely if ever exceeding 155mm the guns are light enough to be kept stabilised over their full range of travel.

The kill ribbon should have stayed deep red. That orange-red colour now looks... not so good. I also don't understand why the flooding ribbon got its blue desaturated. I'm glad they changed the citadel ribbon colour to black, although it looks dark grey if you look at it long enough.

Well, it's semi-casemate. Consider them as turrets with bad firing angles and each gun in the turret individually sleeved. The problem I (and most people who don't like the Cleveland) have is that the Celeveland's superheavy shells make her a brawler, which makes the support role of the ship iffy at best, which in turn reduces the overall usefulness of the ship.

You are not supposed to take hits. Rely on your maneuverability to avoid being hit and your speed to get out of bad situations. Your armour is only going to save you if you angle it against DD guns, and even then you may not tank those.

MUH RIBBAHS On a serious note: I'd like to keep the ribbon style even though these new "blots" also look pretty cool. If we could get the ribbons on the scorscreen and the blots when we do a mouseover that'd be the nice middleground. EDIT: What I really like is far right on the 3rd post image is the counter for secondary battery hits. That's something I would have liked to see ingame for a while. OT: What I'd also like to see is customizable colours for ribbons. I like the Black Citadel ribbons that are available in Aslain's pack for instance.
