Meaning this evening we can into division. -
Except if sailing Kuma. Sealclubbing never boring

A few months ago when I managed to come up on the side of an enemy Myoko that was little over half HP (21k-ish) from behind an island that kept me hidden. Before he could realise I was even there I blew him out of the water with 4 citadels and 6 penetrations.

That's two more dakka, right? /sillyness

Historical Battles General Thread (They are back!)

Some of those videos would be pretty tricky to make - especially considering some of the battle damage inflicted where a ship would lose entire sections without going down - New Orleans for example losing her bow... -
Yeah, but this is 5 turrets! Dakka all - dakka - day - dakka - long. Dakka.
-
Minotaur Z4 dakka.

That's news to me. It's gonna come out if it's the case because there's gonna be some research into it anyway.
-
That would only apply to Nelson, and only when firing to the broadside, because of the 16" guns's shockwave from C X turret, which would tear up deck planking and shatter windows in the superstructure.

What buffs are you talking about here? I'm curious, no undertone. While I respect your achievements, I have to say: I don't think you weigh Pensacola rightly. Sure, her poor detection range makes her one of the most underperforming CA's at the tier, but honestly is there any other category that lets her down? I don't think so. Since you have such a high avg dmg, you MUST know how to do well, and even good players can't have good results with bad ships...

Do you mean differences like Fargo to Cleveland and Oregon City to Baltimore?

German BBs+ tier 6 premium French BB Dunkerque stats in 0.5.9
piritskenyer replied to Darth_Glorious's topic in Battleships
Yeah, but well, you need one lucky hit from a BB and it's gone. IF. It hasn't been denied nor confirmed if the turrets will be split in two along their centreline. >the thread that is so alive that it's a matter of seconds to relay bad information. -

Well, that better be fixed, because even with split turrets that's waaayyyyy low. -
Myoko gets the first salvo off, sure, but that's hardly the Pensacola's own characteristics' fault. The concealment range is what makes the ship so bl0ody difficult to play, but that is an arbitrary ("balancing") trait. If not for that, she'd be borderline OP (I'll get back to you on that when I unlock the T5 skill). Also mentioned was Myoko's powerbleed in the turn, which is more significant than that of Pepsi. They both fall down to 28-ish knots at full rudder, difference is that Myoko start off from 35 kts, Pepsi starts from 32. Now that may not seem very important, but with the wider turning circle it means your exposure time is higher. The rudder shift times I can't check right now, but once I can get into the client again, I'll get back to you.

The thing that will be of great joy for old ship fans is probably going to be community organised Historical Battles in TR.

Okay, okay, you're right, but that was the data that was easily in line for all three. Let's go 20'000 yards (18'300 m), which would be a longer range, but still percievable BB engagement: 16" Mk I: 12.2" (310mm) 16" Mk 8: 16.2" (412mm) (330mm Mle 1931: 16.3" (414mm) ) Poor Nelson still falls short there. At close range however - 10'000 yards (9140 m) 16" Mk I: 24" (610mm) 16" Mk 8: 22.5" (570mm) (330mm Mle 1931: 23.2" (589mm)) Problem really is the bad penetration curve rather than bad penetration at close range, which makes Nelson less reliable IMO, and certainly not suited for T8.
-
Only you can't slam home IJN AP as reliably. Sure, the HE does a very good job, and IJN cruisers will almost always outdamage their US counterparts, but when it comes to killing cruisers, IJN CA's are at a disadvantage.

The 16"/45 Mk I was a lackluster gun in all honesty. It was a newer concept in the RN firing a lighter shell faster, but that was found unsatisfactory as penetration fell off rapidly beyond 20'000 yards (18'300 m). So much so that while the RN gun could penetrate a measly 8.8" (224mm) at 30k yards (27,5 km), the 16"/45 Mk 8 mounted on the Colorado class could do 11.7" (297 mm) at the same range (and Nagato's 41cm/45's could do 11" (279mm) at that range). (Now because I'm an annoying bstrd, I'm also going to note that the French 330mm/50 that should be at T7 at some point could penetrate 11.5" (292mm) at 27'500m) So basically, Nelson's guns are nothing to write home about, and certainly not good enough to justify T8. Yes, she'd be able to keep fer bow pointed on mostly, but her speed is between the two, the AA is not that great (although with all the war refits it's gonna do just fine), and there's nothing that really justifies her higher than T8.
-
At close range the 210 may win out, but at long range I'm pretty sure the Pepsi AP wins, if for nothing else, flight time. (I'd have to conduct tests, but I can'T do that before next week - so maybe I'll have someone do it for me) And for normalisation it wins anyway.
-
Best penetration and best normalisation on the AP for that tier. So yeah, I'll stand by that.
-
No, that's only for secondary guns and main guns with calibre smaller than 140mm's.
-
Yes, well, the 380mm SK C/34 is a 52-calibre weapon, while the 15" Mk I is a 42-calibre weapon... I would argue that since we don't deal with absoluite realism (thank the gods), we can overlook factors like barrelwear and calculate every characteristic with a newly built or newly lined barrel that was approved as being of excellent condition. Now if that's the case, the 15"42 with supercharge would have 804 m/s muzzle velocity, which is pretty nice. She would probably have some long range accuracy issues (assuming that supercharge destabilises the projectile due to residual powder burnup upon leaving the muzzle - but that is still to be determined), but since Vanguard was basically the last ever BB to be launched and commissioned, she'd have excellent gun handling and close-mid range accuracy.

>says the guns suck >guns are actually the best T7 8" guns in the game Sorry, what?
