Straight from Texas - US Cruiser Line Split

Okay, so, I would like to have a detailed account on how exactly 10x 8"/55 are gonna be balanced at T6. Mino probably has the advantage as an anti-cruiser and anti-destroyer ship, and while chipping away may work on BB's frontally, I think Worcester is still going to be more general-purpose than Mino.

NERF this STUPID BROKEN SHIP "FLINT"!!!

Again, I get and to a certain degree agree with your point, but if you have a division of a bit more than just semi-competent players with one of the three cruisers mentioned above, you will be able to counter a Flint through play. Imo the problem with Fkint is that it's a pretty okay ship, given out to very good players, which is just a recipe for wreckage. If the reward ship was a less powerfully balanced ship, like a premium Pepsi for example, the general feeling would still be that it must be super powerful, because good players play it. Flamu and the likes can do well in just about any ship, and let's face it, most people who got 3+ R1's can't really have just aucked their way through life.

NERF this STUPID BROKEN SHIP "FLINT"!!!

As true as that is as a general rule, both ships when properly equipped have the capacity to threaten a Flint. It's more about what the ship can do and less about what the general playerbase. Also Atlanta.

Yeah, well, same for me in B-more. 61k avg damage in mostly solo, 43% WR in 50-something games. I cry.

    1) it's not a piece of crap, you're just doing it wrong. 2) It's not a downgrade, it's a change. You trade armour for maneuverability and the heaviest broadside of any current USN cruiser. in short: Git Gud.

US Cruiser Line announced to split up "soon tm"

    1) Huh? Myoko has worse turning circle and worse rudder shift. So how exactly is she better at dodging shells? Okay, everything has better overall armour than Pepsi, but last I checked she was the nimblest cruiser at T7. More accurate perhaps, but Pepsi is still one of thew few cruisers which can delete other cruisers w/o problem. Been there, done that. No, Algerie doesn't outclass her drastically. They are equal, but balanced differently. I could take on either in either and in 8 times out of 10 come up as winner, using the respective ships to their strengths. Fiji doesn't have a better tank than Pepsi. Pepsi has 16mm's of bow tank, Fiji has 13. You can bowfuk a Fiji with a Pepsi (or anything really) you cannot do the same with a Fiji. Stop spewing sh1t abt the Pepsi. Your stats would suggest you feel her pretty well, but ah! Only 10 battles... That's absolutely no authority to spew anything on the ship. 2) Often actually. When you ambush other cruisers or pummel BB's with HE, you use all three turrets. Unless you fnck up and close the range to wayyyyy too close range you have plenty of time to dodge incoming shells. No exceptions. "Horrendous turret traverse" What, 30.4s is now considered bad? Gimme a fuc king break. Did you ever have to suffer through Myoko or Mogami 155 pre 0.6.4 or old Furutaka? Now those had bad turret traverse. Baltimore with reload mod is distinctly average, nothing less, nothing more. B-more actually has pretty good armour for a cruiser (I see you didn'T have to suffer the abomination that is Ibuki), you can actually make Bismarcks and Tirpitzes your femal canine, not to even mention Gneisenaus and incompetent Scharnhorsts. Anything up to and including 15" is ricocheting clean off you. Your citadel is rather low down, so at close range you're not eating citadels because they can't usually put them AP rounds down into your citadel. "Hiding behind islands, radaring DD's..." U w0t m8? Islands are assets used to burn BB's to the waterline, not hiding places. You park behind them to use your rof without fear of return fire while burning BB's (and then AP'ing them when every part of them is on fire). When you go after DD's you go balls deep, bow first, using your radar first and then your sonar to kill enemy DD's. You cannot ever expect your team to do your dirty work for you. You do it yourself, while keeping a way out of the engagement. ~10k taken is acceptable. I'll take on any cruiser in B-more 1v1, ever. There are three (four) that are going to cause me problems: A Des Moines (out DPM's me with HE), a hiddenburger (out damages me with 1/4 HE pen) and a Zao (outdamages me with sheer HE alpha) (and and equally competently driven B-more, which is an uncomfortably fair fight). Most battleships are no threat if you don'T present a considerable side angle either. If you do, you get smacked (not as badly as most other cruisers tho, because your citadel is quite some ways lower). 3) I don'T care about point n°3 I'm just here to call you out on your BS regarding B-more and Pepsi. You have fair points there, but never underestimate RNCL's inflicted damage, as their slow chipping away can kill just about anything, given enough space and time. PS: Also, did you know: Pensacola at this time has the heaviest broadside of any US cruiser at 46'000? Buffalo is slated to overtake her at 60'000 if she gets superheavy AP and 55'200 if she gets "regular" AP.

    17% win rate Baltimore

That is something I could see happening IF B-more wasn't so looked down upon by destroyers (until they get bitchsmacked)
  17. To be fair, I was more dodging them rather than shrugging them... That poor Bismarck, now his shells I was shrugging off with ease When I saw the entire C cap collapsing in on itself, I decided to farm that poor Bismarck, and I would have gotten away with it too if you hadn'T put two citadels in me when I was side-on to you... You did get a Die-Hard out of that game, correct? :D Anyway, nice meeting you again!
  18. Met @Dragnorak in his Lion yesterday evening while in a division with @T0byJug in a Roon, @WolfGewehr in a Missouri, I myself was in my B-more. It was a hard-fought battle we eventually lost, but nice meeting you sir!

    New US Cruiser line :)

That much is true. That, I assume will make bowtanking tactics harder somewhat. Still, I guess it's going to bring people more toward a general angle type of gameplay rather than clean bowtanking, as that 60'000 broadside has the potential to delete other cruisers. We shall see how much HP Buffalo actually has (I don't know about her tonnage actually) A problem I have with Balmer dropping a tier is the loss of the heal. The heal is a greatly contributing factor to Balmer's longevity in battle, and I'm not entirely sure how she'd cope with the loss of it. I remember not having to use it in battle at all, but I also remember having to use up all the charges to maximise my effect on the battle (people like to focus you still). Perhaps she'll have improved stealth, perhaps not, we'll see. All in all, that's what I can say too.

Thinking about it this way, perhaps the plus one turret would serve the actual function of increased RoF. Viable, true, but still, the torps. The torps are the real outlier there. The reload module would give a nice 10.5 r/m to the ship, but the torps would allow plays that most USN CA skippers wouldn't dream of. As for the comparison to Hburg, it's true, as well as Hburg having more range. 1) I'm flattered 2) You are right in that she defines heavy cruiser development for WWII, and I myself think she should be T8 for various reasons, a precursory role to Balmer being just one.

    New US Cruiser line :)

Well, first off, I wouldn't move B-more down, because having just started playing her, I find her to be awesome. Like really. She seems almost perfectly balanced at T9, with a set of choices that enable you to turn the ship into one of three distinct playstylistic options. The jump between a B-more and a Buffalo (assuming we have the same jump as between NO and B-more but with one extra turret) would in my opinion be far greater than the current one, as the stock firepower (assuming the same turrets firing the same ammunition deliver the same base damage/minute/turret) would just be too great with the introduction of the rld mod. As it currently stands I think that NO only needs some kind of survivability buff to be well in line, and then the jump to B-more would just fine. Buffalo, while a ship I sincerely look forward to (on the assumption that she has the same armour and gun characteristichs as B-more), seems to be an outlier in many respects: a break from the usual USN CA layout of 2A1 and torpedoes. Her layout and looks (again, heavily based on assumptions that she's overall a beefier Baltimore) remind me of her old in-the-game-files position ie TX, with distinct similarities to Hindenburg. In such a case she should/would have no real business at T9 and should be TX. That said, we still are waiting for stats to drop, from which we can all form a more refined opinion/idea. Whatever stat comes however, I'll maintain that Baltimore has finally reached a good place in the techtree, where she is actually well balanced. Never once, while playing her, did I get frustrated because of faults in the ship. She's as close as it comes to perfect in cruiser balance: She's moderately good at everything, without sacrificing too much on any fronts. A pity that WG decided to move her down now that she's become just right. It's a ship that can be "anything and more", all depending on player skill. Now on to Wichita: The way New Orleans looks right now, I'd be willing to take the gunnery stats and put them on a Baltimore hull to basically get a Wichita. really that would be the strength of Wichita: same or similar gunnery and utility (radar) on a way improved platform. Wichita would have better overall armour and heal-less survivability but would trade some of NO's great concealment for that. She'd get the same radar, which would actually mean that you can't "insta-counterdetect" a DD when your detection indicator flashes, but you'd have better AA, better secondaries, (better looks,) and a style that would potentiall ease you in the next ship (assuming Balmer) better. As to how to balance Wichita to be a T8 prem next to a Balmer, that will require quite some more thought (maybe heal to make up for lower DPM - like Atago vs Mogami, even though atago has other merits that would make her an excellent ships even w/o). As a T7 premium, Wichita could and would clearly win any competitions for best T7 CA, and as such I don't think she'd be viable there. (Unless, of course, she's incredibly gimped in a similar fashion to that what the "good" people of reddit foresee for my beloved Pepsicola - who also doesn't belong a tier lower)

I hope tier 8. Really shouldn't be very hard to implement as such, as she'd already beats NO out of the water if she had the same main gun stats. Basically NO with useful (or rather not useless) armour.
