Oh you're still here, are you? I used to run a clan that was named after you in warthunder. Now I'm off it, so go on, keep being snarky.

You guys are [edited]hilarious. If a ship is put on sale and is weak, you're being ripped off, if it's put on sale and it's strong, it's p2w. How about you guys make up your [edited]minds?

Roma - Tier VIII Premium Italian BB suggestion
piritskenyer replied to ImperialAdmiral's topic in Battleships
Not to sound like an A-hole, but... Why are you comparing a BB's concealment in any shape or form against cruisers? Most cruisers rely on their concealment to not get chewed on by BB's all the time. I for one find the recent trend of BB's being able to sneak up on cruisers just disgusting, frankly. With all the things BB's have going for them (survivability, range, alpha strike, AA) last thing they need is to be as much or more concealed than cruisers. The other day a Lion dropped a broadside on me from concealment at a range of 11.5 km's, while I was in an Ibuki, trying to do my job and burning things. I stood no chance, because he just wrecked every single thing on the ship, and 26 seconds later he killed me with another broadside. You may think that "yeah, but cruisers are still more stealthy than BB's", well, F that. Most cruisers need to be firing constantly to do their job well, which means their detection range is always full on, but BB's naturally restealth, as it takes them longer than 20 seconds to reload. Sure, one must know when to hold their fire, but it's not always pőossible to stop shooting in the heat of battle. A BB sneaking as close as 10.4 or even 11.5 km's is not only too much for comfort, it's also too close to avoid and then comes down to pure luck if they delete you or not. Which is indeed a favourable way to fight in war, but this is a game... -

piritskenyer replied to T0byJug's topic in General Discussion
I for one can go w/o the refund, especially taking into consideration the flag and cmd I don't want to separate @T0byJug from. Besides, 't'was a gift and not just because of the de Grasse he got me- 26 replies

balance Nerf Royal Navy High Explosive
piritskenyer replied to TheNamelessLegend's topic in General Discussion
I agree with the OP, btw. 13.5", 14", 16", 16.5" and 18" HE shells on RNBB's are wayyyy too powerful. Historically the british did have a rather high HE filler weight Now, there is two ways of going about it: Nerf HE pen to 1/6 calibre from 1/4 calibre - This is the way I would go, as this seems to be a more major issue, as RNBB's can citadel quite a few cruisers using HE, and then they set fires on top of it Nerf firechance - this is also a way we can go, as KMBB's get away with a similar combo on their HE. Even with reduced HE pen the high firechance can make DoT stick, which may be a hair too strong But anyhow, the combination of high firechance and 1/4 pen is just too much.- 51 replies

HMAS Vampire Thanks for the Marathon...... BUT REALLY WARGAMING
piritskenyer replied to T0byJug's topic in General Discussion
Yes, we know, you know best, and you're always right, and as always, morally superior to all of us mere mortals. I "impulse-bought" the ship for T0by, because that's what i was planning to do. Buy him the ship as a gift as soon as it gets released. Had I been informed on the fact that the ship was going to be in a mission, I may have still had bought it as a gift for him still, but I may have asked him first. Or maybe not. I don't know, we're after the fact.- 26 replies

Heavy cruisers, useless in this meta
piritskenyer replied to anonym_N94VxxjvHv2p's topic in General Discussion
Indeed, it's counterable. Most things in this game are. I still maintain that IFA is a very good saving tool if you are in gunnery view and don't have what is shooting you in your FoV. PT combined with IFA counteracts that other thing you mention, here's how: when you get targeted, instinct is to turn away, but that may actually be playing into the opponent's hand. Waiting to see IFA flash when PT is designating you is almost always throwing shots off. It is also important to not consistently repeat the evasive behaviour, because that leads back to point n°1. You're in a heavy cruiser. Unless they are below tier, you're not angling against more than one of them. If you are in a position where 5 BB's are targetting you there is no skill that is going to save you, apart maybe from concealment expert and trigger control. Beside the point again: PT can be misleading at times in that there may be more people targetting you than people actually having targetting solutions on you. In general PT is better because it gives you more information as constant (as opposed to the information flash or spike of IFA), but IFA saved my skin more than a couple of times. Sure, the two work the best together, but if you're having information overlord already, perhaps you're too close already. A bit less condescending will go a long way. I still hate you for dismissing IFA as useless. Smartboy... PS: Try getting a bit better result in a ship as powerful as Takao. -

piritskenyer replied to anonym_N94VxxjvHv2p's topic in General Discussion
IFA and PT together ARE. IFA in a maneuverable ship is basically a shield against incoming fire against up to three ships, while PT will keep you in the loop as to how many people are actually targetting you. When it's 5 or more, it's time to disengage. You guys all saying that IFA is a waste of skill point are being so fricking annoying. Way back when Pepsi had the awful detection range, that was one of the skills that made her an ideal baiting ship: get detected, get fired upon, dodge. Rinse and repeat. -
[Request]Tier VII HIJMS Haruna premium BB
piritskenyer replied to G01ngToxicCommand0's topic in General Discussion
ARP Haruna is a copy-pasted Kongo with a skin, that makes her T5. If we get what is requested (more secondaries, significantly more AA, probably better turret and reload time, better rudder shift due to the module, perhaps better dispersion and/or sigma), we get a significantly stronger package in Haruna. Basically... https://orig00.deviantart.net/2b56/f/2017/119/9/4/your_argument_is_invalid_by_japanesegodzilla1954-db7lb99.jpg -
Hey guys, I'm way late to the party, and I have a question: Have you guys settled on the T4 and 5 BB's yet? If not, may I have a recommendation (then you can take it apart at your leisure as I'm rather unfamiliar with italian ships :D )? So here: T4: Conte di Cavour in her WW1 fit, with 13x 12" guns, 18x 120mm guns, and 14x 3" guns. T5: Andrea Doria in her WW2 fit, with 10x 320mm guns, 12x 135 mm guns and 10x 90mm guns. My main reasoning here is that Andrea Doria in a WW2 fit seems more powerful than Conte di Cavour in a WW2 fit, and we already have Giulio Cesare as a T5 prem.

Your otimum range is around the 12 km mark I found. In 6 games (discounting testing a few months back) I have had two deletions (four if we count ships that were on low HP and died to the usual "unecessary citadel"). I found the guns to be rather accurate, even if not sniper levels. My winrate in six games is rather low (33%), but it's early days yet, and the cpt is only 6 points old.

It still exists, but it's a TX map now.

I'm playing de Grasse so far, and one thing is for sure: with a 10 point cpt (IFHE), she's hard work to do well in, but she works. If you make a misstep, you'll get messed up very hard. CE is a must, because you are one of the first cruisers to be spotted. Armour is decent in French cruiser terms, but it's still a French cruiser. Rudder seems to be a bit slow and the turning speed isn't that super either, but you can troll people with the spood beest (and the flag). If you need to get out of trouble, you can hit the boost and throw your rudder around, people are gonna be missing you before you disappear. Your turret speed is freaking awesome, but the angles are somewhat limited. You can bowtank other 6" cruisers, pretty sure you can'T bowtank 8" and above guns.

Missouri or 2 tier 8 ships
piritskenyer replied to anonym_IWDmAoWWysc1's topic in General Discussion
Get Missouri, she makes more money in a match than a T8. If you don't care about the money and want to train commanders from other nations, sure, go for other ships that are T8, but on money alone, it takes two games of T8 to make the money Missouri makes in one game. -

SoDaK had compact machinery for a BB. That was still much less tightly packed up than the engines in a DD. The reason why BB's were never going to have so tightly packed engines is kind of already given away in the name: battle. BB's were expected to meet the enemy in open water and take as well as they dish out. Every part of their design therefore included redundacies, backups, double redundancies and enough space to repair at sea. One example I can think of is HMS Warspite at Jütland being hit and reduced to 9 kts and circling, after which the crew was able to bring her under control with at-sea repairs and bring her back to Rosyth for repairs. Another would be NoCal after being hit by a torpedo from I-19, she was able to maintain station for a week before having to return to Pearl Harbor for repairs.

A battleship's engine is built with maintenance and durability in mind. They have a far worse space/power ratio than that of a destroyer or a cruiser that are more compact and put out more power for their volume but are also much more tightly packed together. The reason why BB engines take up so much more space while not giving out so much more power is that they are dispersed in a way that each and every part of them is more comprehensively serviceable and can be maintained or repaired more easily (also being dispersed reduces the chance of catastrophic failure upon one hit or the possibility of a negative chain reaction or fire), while on a DD the machinery and machinery lines are packed together so tightly that some elements are usually hard to reach. Of course, you could just pack DD powerplants into BB's, but then only god is going to saveyou from the clusterf@ck that is going to go down when you inevitably get hit and you can't access your engines to repair them at sea.
