Probably a question of taste I for one if I was feeling very trollish I'd fit Neptune out as an AA boat... Even w/o DefAA you get obscene AA.
-
Fun? As a cruiser main, Myoko was probably one of the most boring (but effective) ships I played in that line. Mogami can be great, especially as a 155 IFHE, and Ibuki is just baaaaad. In the end it's all worth it though for Zao.

Repair/Servicing Costs for T8+
piritskenyer replied to InfinityIncarnate's topic in General Discussion
The official reason for the fixed service cost being introduced was that a lot of people were camping in the back i their ships, trying to avoid taking damage and reducing the bills. That led to great amoints of uselessness, because not only can't you be hit at extreme range, neither can you hit anything, and thus people who were closer to the enemy had zero support and after some time all the attention of the enemy team (when said enemy team got bored of trying to hit far away targets). I cannot say how well it worked, I personally never had the problem of systematically losing money at any tier ever (had the odd detonation game with 10k damage where I lost money, but nothing regular), but now people can only make a profit, be it a win or a loss, if they actually go and deal damage, or, paradoxally, tank damage. Passivity no longer pays. -
Why the gameplay dies on Tier V?

You look like someone I'd shoot to hell in my Giulio Cesare. Nit because I have anything against you, but because you make it easy. Also, bírom a neved :D -
@fnord_disc @Mucker Can you guys please plot me a pen curve? 15"/42 Mk I AP Mk XVIIb (Cardonald) Mass: 879 kg MV: 804 m/s Cd: 0.3415 Krupp: 2500 The krupp is my estimation for the Cardonald shell, this is a request that is obviously for Vanguard.

HMS Vanguard - T8 Royal Navy premium BB proposal
piritskenyer replied to piritskenyer's topic in Battleships
I just realised that I have had an error of marking, the penetration values I used were for Mk XVIIb Cardonald shells, but I wrote Mk XXIIb. I shall now rectify. Another troubling thing I have noticed is that the MV that I found in the Nathan Okun resource is substantially lower than the new gun MV, so I'm thinking the penetration may actually be higher with new gun velocity.- 114 replies

We'll see, but I have a gut feeling it will be similar to the old Furutaka (dead slow turrets, long ish reload and the heaviest broadside for the tier amongst cruisers). While I managed to master the Furry Taco experience by the emd, I never enjoyed it, and it would be a shame to lose Pepsi in her current form. Note that it's just my love for the current Pepsi and reluctance to change that is making me have a bleak outlook, but I can tell you I'm not the only one with such a negative outlook. Then again maybe they'll put SLC as a T6 and "premiumise" Pepsi at T7 a la T34 in WoT. That is my own wishful thinking, but still, fingers crossed.
-
Yeah, my bad. Still, I see no feasible way for Pensacola to not be either totally overpowered or totally useless...
-
I really am not looking forward to the CA/CL split in its current iteration, as it will put my beloved Pepsicola at T6 and gimp her in the process. The problem with that is that it will completely neuter the ship, in a way that people who already dislike it will now outright just avoid it and people who like it will very likely dislike it. I rather see her retained on T7 and have New Orleans as a T7 in an alternative line or branchout. @Aragathor USN CA's only start getting superheavy AP at CA-68 USS Baltimore. Anything before is ordinary Mk 19 mod 6 AP. Ingame the USN CA's and CL's from T6 get special bounce angle AP. (sorry just clarifying)

HMS Vanguard - T8 Royal Navy premium BB proposal
piritskenyer replied to piritskenyer's topic in Battleships
I understand she is somewhere in the midterm future, but noone knows of her yet. My post is merely how I would suggest she be released, with no gimmicky strenghts.- 114 replies

Overmatch ballistically ignores armour thickness that is calibre / 14.3 [mm]. That is why when a Yamato strikes a bow on BB with her 460mm guns the shells will go through uninterrupted on the same trajectory, unless the angle was such that it has caused the fuse to arm. If the angle is flat enough the shell will keep going w/o detonating and will first interact with armour it cannot overmatch. In any case, an overmatching shell doesn't normalise on a plate that it's overmatching. PS Also, take a look at my edited post (I sincerely say that I had problems editing it, but that is what I intended to say in the first place).
-
Aaaaand that is where you are wrong. Overmatch ignores normalisation by its very nature (by not having ricochet and bounce capacity it can also not normalise on it). It just passes through it no matter the angle, where the only thing that it takes into account is wether the angled armour is thick enough for the fuse to arm or not.
-
Edited my post (like I've been trying for half an hour)
-
We know how angling affects armour thickness and arming threshold, thanks. The problem isn't that you can get normalpens with BBAP on a DD, hell, even getting double overpen damage wouldn't be a problem, the problem is that you get double normalpen damage. Why? Because you have expended your fuse, that's why. How do you detonate the same shell twice? As you can see, noone is questioning the mechanics of penetration (most of us has history in WoT as well afterall), it's the way damage is dealt that is dubious.
-
I'm starting to believe that wilkatis regards everything that could possibly reduce BB damage output as a threat, and thus reacts with excess agression...
-
Well, if it had been like this since always then why are you so defensive of it? It just means it has been bugged since always.
-
Double damage bug or not, killing DD's with a BB AP is way too easy at this time, and needs to be adressed. Scale back on the hostility mate, noone is trying to take your toys away.

Błyskawica Game(in the background) play COBI
piritskenyer replied to T0byJug's topic in General Discussion
Very nice mate! -
You seriously believe that the DD's not already aware of that are going to be found on this forum?
-
DISHONOR! DISHONOR! SHAMEFUR DISPRAY! Seriously bro, less than 5 minutes and dead already? Seriously though. Freaking BB AP has to be adjusted against DD's, as it not only makes it absolutely unfun for DD players (and I don't care how historical it is for BB AP to kill stuff, this is a game balance issue), but it also to a certain degree elminate the need for screening cruisers, and make BB's real jacks of all trades. Which really isn't how it should be.

Every single post I've seen from you the past two weeks have been nothing but pure sarcasm. I agree that sometimes people don't deserve more than that, but really, I think you are too much smarm lately.

Answering the "why is it illegal" question with "because it is illegal" doesn't help anyone. @ColonelPete being a forum veteran, maybe you could be more helpful towards people instead of just having sarcastic remarks in every thread...

To whoever said the current meta is favoring battlewagons
piritskenyer replied to wtfzazo's topic in General Discussion
Umm, explain how that is remotely comparable to the WTFE100? The WTFE100 was a vehicle that was able to oneclip most TX's and oneshot a bunch of T8's. That thing was overpowered against all classes. This thing is just gimmicky, but doesn't really look all that overpowered (not at all, really), even when Flamu is playing it. Disclaimer: even though I'm an ST, I have NO experience with the ship, due to computer problems, and even if I had, I wouldn't be at liberty to comment on its performance. -
Why so much love for German BBs? What am I doing wrong?
piritskenyer replied to pomathoin's topic in Battleships
why do most people like German BB's? Because they can turn broadside and mostly get away with it, while having rapid fire secondaries with 1/4 HE pen that reach out to above average range, and good enough main battery. In short: it's much more stupidproof than other lines. Also, most people get a hardon by the sheer mention of the name of Bismarck and Tirpitz, even though they have the grand total of one kill between them.
