    Vanguard could make T9. Her ancient guns are still one of the best battleship gun designs in the world. Those 15" guns were hailed everywhere as one of the best gun designs of all time. At tier 9 she'd prolly be about DPM rather than raw alpha (a bit like the Tirpitz in the videos at T8).

This question came up into my mind a few times: the catapult fighter and the spotter plane on BB's and CA/CL's is a numbered ability, meaning that you can launch it only so many times before it runs out. Why? is it a balance consideration? Why can't it work like it works for carriers: Whatever aircraft you recover you can launch again? Catapult fighters are not all that powerful, so them counting off every time they are launched seems to make not that much sense. Is it because of their spotting capacity? I'm just curious, as I'd like to see recovered aircraft being launchable again, but if it can be reasoned against it's fine. Cheers

    Rename New York to Texas

    Since the ships in game are named for their class, your point is kind of invalid. The USS Texas was a New York class BB and in the game they use the available upgrades to upgrade the whole class, in this case the New York class. When a specific ship is put in game it's a premium and will appear in a specific historical-like configuration, but for non premium ships (classes rather) the available maximum upgrade will always be the latest and most powerful refit of any ship of the given class.

    IJN vs USN Cruisers

    This is true. In my Omaha I can aggro down any Furutaka captain and expect to come out as the winner. I can take the same Omaha against a Cleveland and still expect to come out on top. BUT. The Furutaka is still a pretty decent fire support ship. 3 well placed 8" AP salvos can melt away an Omaha, but that requires the Omaha captain to be average at best. The two ships just don't seem to have the same role really. The Omaha is a direct action ship, while the Furutaka is a support ship. The Furutaka is a nightmare for anyone who doesn'T have experience on battleships and such, but it's not a completely useess ship. Plus sh'es getting buffed next patch.

    Well, I bought her today and played a few games with her while she was completely stock. And I have to say: She could be better but she's not as horrendous as I remember her to be. She'll never offer anything spectacular of course, but as a fire support vessel she's not at all bad. When I first played her in CBT I hated her for being not at all like any CA or CL I've sailed before. Now that I have played quite a few games in BB's, I managed to land decent results in her mainly because I used some BB tactics in combination with the standard traits of CL's. The guns have a very comfortable shell velocity and okay dispersion. The shell damage allows for well placed broadsides to hurt a lot, especially if you are firing AP at other cruisers. The HE seems to be doing okay, although pretty inconsistent: one time I hit a Kongo with three salvos to light 5 fires, another time I hit an independence with 6 full broadsides just to crit her over and over but never light her up. She's nothing like the agressive badger of a ship that is the Omaha or the Murmansk, but it is my distinct impression that it is not her role to be. She's also not a game carrier, as if close quarters fighting occurs, she'll be dead meat (unless she can put a lucky spread of torps in the water).

    I think she could be a tier 4 or 5 premium CL. No armour (well, none to speak of really), very limited arc forward firing torps and a turret that effectively can only traverse 90° either side (Although, I'm pretty sure Waroch here will correct me if I'm wrong). She would also be very damned slow for a CL, but the armament she packs would be more than enough to do good ambushes if nothing else. (Plus she would be the only submarine in the game )

    I would be okay with having BC's as late cruisers. I recall having read somewhere that the Alaska is going to be coming into the US tree eventually, so I guess it'd be a workable principle. We should really clear up what armament on a BC would be workable as late cruisers instead of being pseudo-BB's.

    The Phoenix was okay when upgraded, but she induced my everlasting hatred because I had to grind her. No such problems with Kuma, since she came pretty much as good as she could get (bar the range). Also somehow Kuma just clicks better for me.

    The definition of an OP something is that it does well no matter what. Well guess what: I find this ship to be the single worse part of the US CA line so far. I can't hit jack sh1t with the guns because the shells fall wherever they feel like, but the return fire will hurt every single time. Armour piercing? Boom, citadel pen. HE? Boom on fire and my steering is gone. OP when fighting against it? Not really. My Omaha laughs at Clevelands as I can wiggle way better to avoid their fire than they can when they come close. When I keep switching ammunition between HE and AP, the Cleveland melts away like butter on a stove. Yesterday I got into a gunnery duel with a Kuma (a Kuma for god's sake!) at mid range (8-10 klicks) and while I managed to hit him once with scattered shots, he managed to set me on fire twice and knock out one of my turrets. I decided to disengage, because the ship is completely ineffective.

    How to play the Pensacola ?

    Well, I'm going to go from CBT experience here: If you are stock, you'll have to keep targets on your range extremities, and try to hit them that way. Use AP most of the time as it's actualy useful. As you upgrade the ship, you'll get access to a longer range FCS, and a hull upgrade which will at first up your RoF by 8 r/m and from that hull upgrade you'll get to unlock guns that enable you to use the ship in whatever way you bloody well please, as their turn speed will be higher than that of the upgraded Cleveland, and their hgitting power on par with other cruiser one tier above. Your AP shells are effective here, you can punch great big holes in whatever enemy cruiser you come across (in CBT my record was sending (amongst others) a Baltimore to the bottom). Now you might be wondering how is this ship in any way shape or form better than Myoko at T7, as Myoko has 5 r/m, 400m more range and torps? Well, on paper, nothing. In practice, Pepsi is a *bit* more accurate, her turrets will turn faster on target and she will wiggle out of the way easier than Myoko. She also is a better gunboat in my experience than Myoko. I cannot guarantee accuracy at this point of course, since I haven't unlocked Pepsi at this point, but pint in fact is that I have won matches in Pensacola against Myokos while in CBT.
