Night Mode... why this game absolutely has to have one. Period.
Querulous replied to WhiskeyWolf's topic in General Discussion
Night mode sounds nice If we could have searchlights like you can turn on lights in AW, could make things fun. However bound to be a lot of work, not sure its worth it - unless they want to do something to compete. possibly now Wargaming have shown they are happy to close an office of a not very good game designer, then this WoWS designer might be feeling the pressure to be more awesome. -

Thanks for this (On my computer, the paragraphs are all mixed together, better edit might be good) -
Capturing the imposing effect of certain ships
Querulous replied to _Pheasant_'s topic in Age of Armour Warships
A key aspect of this game's success is that people want to play a great big deadly mound of steel and feel that way. How they will achieve this will be interesting -

Still, its a good source of non radiated metals to this day. -
Which one is your favourite ship class?
Querulous replied to __Snapdragon__'s topic in General Discussion
I suspect most people play for the big guns, so making these as immersive as possible is the best way for the game- 102 replies

The Largest Aircraft Carrier in The World (English Version)
Querulous replied to bogdanandrei1998's topic in Age of Armour Warships
I think the Harrier was merely a ground attack plane, the air superiority development was curtailed for lack of money. So fighting front line aircraft of first world nations was not on the agenda. -
The Largest Aircraft Carrier in The World (English Version)
Querulous replied to bogdanandrei1998's topic in Age of Armour Warships
I think the pic implies there are about 24 propellors, implying many times the usual number of engines.... But its a concept drawing at best - any real airfield like this would have been towed into enemy range and used to soak up their attacks. Hollowing it out and then using it would have been excessive. -
World of Warships Developer Diaries # 2. Class-by-Class

Balancing v history is always a problem. Look at the changes continually being made in WOT. Presumably such ships will be changed in time too. -
Thats a strange and wonderful story - I wonder if any other navy has paid any bonus since. I know the USSR had a whole system of awards (and medals) in WWII for example. Not sure if since.

Never quite understood why people want to have their tanks look like ponies. Ah well, takes all sorts.

Not all of us have lots of time, I used mine to thank him. -
OK so have to ask - why Murderers Row ? Is it simply how many Japanses they slew or something more ?

I guess that they can only then be banned from the game websites Still its always going to be a worry that people mod the game then transmit widely versions that are not politically correct. Ships as ponys perhaps.

Thanks for such a well thought out essay. Lots of good effort there - well done. -

Querulous replied to nvc65's topic in Age of Armour Warships
I base this on talking to parents and teachers. I also base this on a wide number of people I work with, who would be hard pressed to name even the sides in WWII (other than Germany v allies in the haziest of terms ) let alone naval engagements (well Bismark v Hood maybe). Maybe this is as it should be. If any mention of Imperial era armed forces comes up, it is generally in context of what a waste, shame etc or experience in FPS games. Perhaps games like this may change and educate. -

Indeed. The very value systems that produced the fleets of old are now not popular. See the current foreign policy of Europe -its very weak. This is directly related to the values of the populations of the democracies. Contrast this to the attitude in say the USA. As a huge generalisation, the awareness of projection of national pride (and hence Navy etc) is given a boost in schools there. Likewise in TV programmes.Hollywood may be accused in America of being left wing anti war, but compared to UK Television its a complete universe away in terms of values shown. -
Thats a shame. But interesting lesson - thanks !

Well they don't excise a huge chunk of history because of pride do they. -

Sadly if you look at the time they take in schools on the Royal Navy, its like it was never there. 30 years ago children would have known about Trafalgar at the least. Now its barely touched on. More about the Mary Rose because of the Henry VIII link than Victory. Many of those here will ofcause be proud, who wouldn't be, but in the general population there is little appreciation sadly. -

Presumably a banned mod pretty quick But I guess to each his own.... If the planes can be reskinned too, might make for an entertaining weird game.

Well nations that are proud of their navy and WG want to break into in a big way = USA mainly European nations including UK tend to almost have shame about their Naval history -
Looks like we will need a WoSS for sailing ships.
