    4 point captain skill for IJN Destoyer

    Last stand is more important in an IJN DD than even a USN DD I think because the IJN has no way to defend itself once it's spotted. Where as Advanced fire training in a USN DD means you can fire from range without being spotted which is awesome .

    Totally normal +-3 tiers . Tbh I've seen far worse, some poor tier 7 CV was solo matched against a Midway. Midway just parked some planes nearby and nullified it the entire game.

    By tier 9 you're paying 20K in 'repairs' even if you take 0 damage (that includes 0 damage crits). Btw this isn't ammo I'm talking about.

    HE - constructive feedback

    Remember guys Fire chance decreases with tier where by Tier 10 AFAIK the chance is ~-50% Fire. I imagine the Cleveland does so well with fire is because it can shoot lots of low tier targets and has lots of rapid firing guns.
  5. Thought I'd start a thread of all the little things we've encountered as bugs or little improvements that would be nice to fix/add! (This is not a thread for suggesting balancing fixes etc. do not suggest them here!) To start with: [bUG] Changing torpedo spread on a DD at the start of a game before they've loaded often doesn't give you the correct spread. [improvement] Being able to disable secondaries / AA before game starts (or even have it set up in the Dock / Harbour). I often forget to do it and end up lighting myself up as a DD :/.     Getting ppl less toxic

    To be honest I've found this game far less toxic than WoT. I put that down to 3 things: 1. Large number of people still playing from Alpha and CBT. 95% of us were constructive and helpful and I sent reports (with screenshots) in of anybody being extremely rude / unpleasant etc. 2. No XVM type mod, I used it in WoT at higher tiers and it could make me look at disgust at some of the players (rather shamefully I admit). It makes people less likely to instantly judge you before you even start playing which is good for the better players (primaried less early) and the not so good so they don't get told various unpleasant things. 3. The game is conducive to more chilled out playing, your actions per minute are quite small even when there are very very intense moments. So less aggressive times mean less aggressive players and types of players playing the game. Please please guys keep reporting people. Use the good ones as much if not more! I try to make myself use up all my positive ones every time I play. For the total idiots who say all those unpleasant things, screenshot it and send it to the GMs. They do respond .

    I regularly do this in my Sims. You need the advanced firing skill (4 point one) to make it work effectively otherwise your stealth distance is small (~1km) but with the skill I get 15+km range on my guns so get around 4-5km of stealth firing range. Don't begrudge us though, us poor American DD's need all the help they can get :/.

  9. Errrr median is a form of an average... There are many forms of average, I don't care which form of average it is as long as it is standardised across the board. Edit: standard deviation will tell you the how average an average is remember but let's not get into this depth of statistical analysis as the saying goes "lies, damned lies and statistics"

Ectar, I've repeatedly asked you to post the AVERAGE XP per class (which is the only important stat you haven't stated), even better if its by tier (because lol Minekaze) because that is where most of us are having issues. I've come to notice that WG is one of the most reticent companies to post useful stats about anything, most things having to be found out by players instead of openly published by the game maker (see CCP) maybe if you were more open we'd all be able to openly constructively critique classes etc rather than using anecdotal and old / insufficient data. Edit: This will be the third time I've asked, if you're not going to, just be polite and say you won't.
  12. Yup it's been posted over and over that link and even though the stats are largely from low tiers you can see how terribly even with the initial data the high tier DD's (6+) are doing.
  13. Long range torps are incredibly easy to dodge, just alter your course marginally or change your speed. The Kitakami was hilariously terrible, they even tried to give it smoke and it was still shocking as it had to launch its torps whilst visible and couldn't find a way to make it balanced. Though it was brilliant at area denial but that doesn't get you XP.
  14. Singling out 4 DD's with AA protection: Well possible with Tier X Planes (especially when the team was lacking high level AA). 20km torps which you can only fire every 2-2.5mins. I don't know any cruisers that would burn a defensive fire to protect a DD from one TB squadron (rightly or wrongly). Dodging torps at full speed lol, so basic...and try dodging lots of torps in a Kagero, only ship I can consistently dodge at high tiers in against large numbers of torps is with a Sims (or equivalent American DD). Dodging torps from IJN CV's is far easier due to 4 torps vs 6 (if it's one squadron) only if you're bracketed do you die easily. And then lets not look at that the torps you fire are constantly spotted by countless planes in the air. Oh and what does a DD do that a CV can't do better?
  15. That comment is useless, I pointed out that the Shimakaze stayed with the Yamato but achieved very little / 0 damage. Check the end of game stats. And the first 3 DD's were killed inside the first 3 minutes when we were still relatively close to cruisers but to no avail as lol tier 10 plane HP.
  16. To illustrate the amount of control a CV has over a battle with DD's: So thought I'd post this battle, it went beyond anger or annoyance or even frustration it was just hilarious. Even the CV pilot was well it's really easy to kill you... So lets have a look: 4 DDs dead, only the other one survived due to I think going afk and driving off to back of the map. So me in a Kagero gets Torped and Divebombed = Dead Mahan : Torpedo bombed by 1 squadron 30secs later = Dead Hatsuhara dodges for a while then dies again to 1 squadron of TB's = Dead Shimakaze hides next to the Yamato all game and gets killed by 1 torpedo bomber squadron whilst trying to cap = Dead Aaaanndddd this is the XP of the DD's So 4/5 DD's hit nothing all with those mostly being the Tier 9 / 10 ones. The Hatsuhara tried but died for his efforts. Only reason we didn't lose was because our Izumo and Yamato played really well. Yes I realise the CV tier difference is going to be fixed and the Division messed it up slightly (still the MM thought the carrier was tier 7, like that would have helped at all...) but this game shows the amount of control and ease of which it is for a CV (especially a high tier one) can control a game. The CV pilot in question also pointed out that it would have been even quicker with an IJN CV and even with another tier X CV in the game DD's can't just be a fleet DD, the Shimakaze tried that and he did effectively nothing, couldn't hit anything due to his torps being spotted etc etc. So to sum up: 1 CV kills 4 DD's and effectively neuters all 5 of the DD's effectiveness with 4/5 DD's being at the bottom of the XP. Also note all of us died to single Torpedo squadron bombers including the manoeuvrable and agile Mahan and Shimakaze. Edit: My issue with CV's is that they totally counter and neuter DD's. We have 0 defense vs them except for hiding with the fleet so we then do very little damage. CV's at the moment do everything a DD can do but better.
  17. Ectar I also played a good number of games in CBT in DD's and the situation now is far worse (Shimakaze and Benson in CBT). The loss of the smoke time was a MASSIVE nerf and this makes it far harder to escape planes. Also there seem to be far more CV players in general hence more planes therfore you and your torps are spotted far more (a double loss of effectiveness). You say that having a DD dodging torps from a CV means you are being an effective DD, I really think not. The CV doesn't just have 1 or 2 squadrons, it can be doing so much more whilst making a DD's life pointless and getting very little XP (or dying to cruiser fire etc due to being spotted). Oh and try avoiding well guided torps with a Kagero you seen that things turning and speed? And again, I'm politely asking for average XP (you seem to answer the rude ones but not the polite ones ) . It would also be great if you could break it down by tier as I expect at certain tiers it's being heavily skewed.
  18. Hi Ectar, you've helpfully posted average kill and win rate but what about average XP? Playing a high tier IJN DD I find that CV's have a huge impact on the amount of success I have especially in terms of being killed by torpedo bombers and my torpedoes being spotted (the number of ship launched planes from basically all ships means it's also hard to suprise anybody now...)
  19. Fine you can have this, but then I want the following: Real oxygen torps (ones that go 40km) Planes travelling at real speed (they'd stall at the current game speed) etc etc etc. You can't have one or two of the things that you want without the rest It's an arcade game for a reason

    Weird Torpedo spread

    Dear all, Had this happen to me today was rather unusual: A squadron of Japanese Torpedo bombers (tier 8 carrier) dropped 4 torpedoes on my destroyer (tier 8 not fully upgraded so bad AA). 3 of the Torpedoes came at me in a straight line parallel to each other, the last torpedo came across at an angle and actually crossed the other torpedoes. I got killed by this 'rogue' torpedo. I and the carrier were rather surprised by this! There wasn't any ship near me that could have caused the TB to panic or any other effect as far as I'm aware. Could this be a bug or an effect I'm not aware of? Sorry for a lack of pictures, I don't have replays on . Many thanks, Isitari.

  23. Just ignore the other part of the stats where it says that almost all CV's receive the highest XP per tier especially at the higher tiers. You can't pick and choose your stats! If win rates are fairly similar (btw they aren't for high tier DD's) but XP is massively different then something is up. Edit: add to this that a CV can do nearly everything a DD can do but better without risk to the ship, I see many problems with CV's.
