"Back to port" button - why does it exist?
Pappus replied to ForlornSailor's topic in General Discussion
If you remove the button they will suicide their ship. Not like that takes long and then they are allowed to leave. The change unfortunately makes no sense. Making a random ban though if too many AFK/suicide things come might -
Isn't the german improved HE pen already backed into the secondaries making IFHE useless? Edit: NVM it was already calculated in

So if the price simply was 192k filth what would you say then? Or do you believe the price would be 8k filth? :D If your busy life doesn't allow for the grind, don't participate. I finished it without any clan whatsoever in about 12 hours. All 3 camos. You will manage on a weekend
-
In all your fear of those "speshul" players, because your clanmates cannot be bothered to grind more than the bare minimum that they themselves require you do realize that every second player is basically above average right?
-
So you play with random teamates? I grabbed random ppl there. 2 chinese players that could barely talk english and a couple of spanish guys. It was no problem at all. The event is extremely easy after all, not like you need to do anything sophisticated and you can just take croco and solo rapustin. Even if they are bad you don't need them to help you with skill. They are just collectbots
-
He is not insulted he literally complains that others got it in a fraction of the grind. That is not an argument - that is being jealous. There is a big difference.
-
Literally ímpossible? I grabbed two of those randoms and dived up with them and then we did rasputin over and over. If you can't do it easily maybe you are speshul one. When they couldn't play anymore I grabbed others. 2.7k every run makes it pretty fast. 3 matches you about complete the first bundles another 15 matches to finish the second and then you pray to jesus for a big % off. I got the last one on like nr. 9 so yeah that helped. I will prob grindout the rest later though cause i do enjoy flags and stuff aswell. Reign in your jealousness. Be happy for the guy that got it early instead of going into the forum asking for a system change so everyone pays the same price. Next time you might have it on the first one.
-
It doesn't matter how much RNG is in other parts of the game. Boxes are RNG containing an italian cruiser mission or not. I got 0 although I kept buying them. That is RNG. The camo stuff was finished in a few hours and it was nice knowing that it could be over soon during the grind unlike a system that has a fixed price where you just add and add and add. So yeah I like it.
-
I enjoy the bundle stuff. What you are asking for doesn't even make sense. The camo etc do have a fixed price which is the maximum amount of bundles. You just pay less if you are lucky. The stuff you get for free is just for free.

Petition to remove the "provide antiaircraft cover"
Pappus replied to Spearhawk1969's topic in General Discussion
He is not wrong I also get annoyed at the million CV requests. Help me at A, spot that DD, provide anti air cover even when they are hunting the enemy CV in the middle of nowhere. Edit: And god beware if you refuse these requests. -
The effective dmg is the dmg that sticks. Which is why it is basically Haks dmg. For the midway however that is also e.g. 2 fires. Regardless if it is tallied on your end or another ones. The AP bombers do not bring that to the table so it has to be quantified in some form for the midway. Even if it is healable dmg, that just means it makes the other healable dmg stick for one healing charge longer if the target is allowed to heal at all. We can see it in a random example too: A Bismarck has 30.000 HP left and 18.000 HP he can heal. Repair party can heal about 18k from the top of my head. Hak now bring the AP bomber and scores a single drop worth 2 cits. The bb is now at 13000 HP and 19800 to heal. He presses heal and ends up at 31.000 HP. He can still heal a miniscule amount more if he survives that long on the next charge. Midway brings an HE bomber sticks a perma fire on him and lets say 10k worth of bomb dmg. This brings the bismarck down to 20.000 HP and a fire. The fire would cause ~15.3% HP 10710. Bringing him down to 9290. He heals and is now up to 27290 HP and can still heal more if he survives until then. Now if we bump up our drop to 2 fires and 3 cits then in the haku case the bismarck would still be alive, but dead for the midway. This situation is valid whenever the target already has a good chunk of dmg he can heal.
-
AP bombers will deliver one cit often enough leading to a whopping 8k drop. You actually need 2 cits to be on the level of an unsaturated midway HE drop without counting the fire. Not like the bombs hit for puny amounts. Unfortunately I did not defeat my own point, but I mean it is fine for me the discussion with you is already leading nowhere because all you can really do is glance over the subject and spout. So we can agree to disagree here and leave it at that.
-
Well if you want it on your tally you can always use the bombers on something that recently used dcp although i don't find it too hard to strike a BB for two fires in 1-2 of the drops and then briefly wait and give him a permanent. RF in theory deliver fire yeah, but when do you use them to strike BBs anyhow
-
It is not about you returning. That often takes way too long. For a teamgame like this it isn't really important if the dmg is tallied on your end or on the smolensk or whatever. Putting the dcp on cooldown is what enabled it and that is something the Haku can only do with torps. You are not alone. You deal 10k, the next dude 15k. The important part is that it is punished swiftly. Not likely to finish off most radar cruiser off in a single AP bomb deployment either since the planes are pretty fragile and a nice approach not always available. Nor can you change swiftly to AP bombs and fly over in time. The dmg of your Hak would be your effective dmg. The point is that in your case as a simple example given hak and midway are very close to each other - 8k. While all the perma fires you enable via HE drops are definitely not considered and it takes only one by someone to put it ahead. I just took your stats since I can assume that you play both CVs well. It is okay if you don't understand though, seeing another perspective can be hard once the mind is made up. Funny thing on the side - even if you consider heal and we even say he heals specifically your fire dmg, then he ain't healing other damage he would have healed with that particular use. It isn't like you are nailing every BB with 9 cits. 2-4 is what you will get for a deployment and that is not enough to kill him so there is still enough other dmg there for him to heal. So nice he ain't healing your citadel dmg, which is only a real advantage if he manages to slip away completely, but he is healing pen dmg or the fire dmg from someone else.
-
That AP bombs always deal more effective dmg is factually incorrect. It only does so if the fire dmg is actually healed. When you drop on a pushing target he is dead before he is healing that. Additionally a single triple fire takes several charges to heal, not like it costs one. A torpedo clipping also suddenly becomes a much more lethal prospect if you dmg con the HE bombs. If we take your stats for example a single unhealed fire on a BB would already put the effective dmg higher for your midway. The IJN rockets are nice to strike Des Moines, Worc etc aswell so you won't always have that many rocket planes available. A quick 10k dmg on one of the radar cruisers approaching the cap is something I certainly appreciate. Feel free to show me such a drop you speak about that nails the turning with the target. Whenever I experimented with it the circle didn't quite stay on it and mostly resulted in a single "guaranteed" hit. I don't doubt it is possible, but it would be nice to quickly see.

I actually don't think that shokaku or hakuryu outshine the US counterparts. The AP bombs are not that great. They are great to punish island huggers and you might even get a triple chain going, but that is just that. Fires are more potent and while it might not be on your dmg meter it will be on someones. Possibly yours if you catch a dmg con. Shokaku uptiered also struggles to AP pen much consistently besides german BBs and since it is just 3 bombs well while 3 cits are lovely if they hit the huge superstructure of a BB -> no cit. Hits a gun -> no cit (I believe because I never got a cit and knocking out a gun at the same time which I assume should be possible if the bomb drills straight down). The drops are also defeated a bit harder by the enemy turning away with HE bombs you have more bombs and can maybe at least set a fire or knock something out. When it comes to DDs, while the rockets of the IJN deal great dmg it is the only tool they have. If need be in the US counterparts you can hunt with the bombs aswell to keep cycling, since not all DDs are weak AA wise.

You actually get less filth if you team up. You div up and take rasputin. He will barely fill the 2700 - there certainly isn't enough filth to have 3x 2700. I already finished the grind yesterday for all 3 permas and never did use the truce and at no point could I have gotten more either. When we succeeded we were full anyhow.
-
Yeah me too. You want rasputin you pick crocosaur or the healing cl and tell your mates to go rasp and follow you. Not like you need a team that knows what it is doing.
-
I think what some people like you might not realize is that a proper setup gives you 2700 filth per match. Rasputin doesn't give enough for 3 teams to reach that amount. See the 900 you made is almost what you get when 3 BBs fill up and die. 1.5k isn't much either the very achievable result without gaming the system is twice that.
-
In those like 10-15 matches I swiftly played earlier only 2 games had a problem with teamwork. In all others it was people sticking together, no sniping from 100km away. Reward structure that largely removes the RNG and tell you clearly what the maximum you have to do is also a very welcome change. Additionally it is fun that it is not A vs B but also vs C.

Why are BBs hanging back and how to fix that?
Pappus replied to 66Schwifty's topic in General Discussion
it is not difficult at all. Just don't play for a half a year and come back. Suddenly there is a new line for DDs, BBs, prem ships, CV reworks and XP is literally thrown at you. You slap on a couple of flags when you wanna push through and then voila t8-t10. How would I know what a pan-asia DD does? You think I login and then it states they do this and that? Every time you go away and come back you are showered with premium, this, that. Someone starting out doesn't need long until he reaches t8. You can do it in like what 3-4 days of casually playing - what do you think someone learns in that time about all the ships. Nothing. -
Why are BBs hanging back and how to fix that?
Pappus replied to 66Schwifty's topic in General Discussion
Well I am a CV player at heart and really never played anything else until I saw a video about secondary bismarck and had to try it out. I couldn't aim well (if they go diagonally I still mostly can't) and pushing got me killed over and over and over. Yesterday I had the pleasure to push alone into a Smolensk. I knew beforehand that most likely I will die, but I try it out for science anyway. How much dmg will I inflict, how quickly do I die. How long can I last. It took a suicide to get that information and in a sense with how many ships there are it is tough remembering it all if you are not that into wows and always up to date. In another match playing the jutland I asked my team what kind of DD the yueyang? is and they said gunboat. I asked if those are the torps that can't hit dds and one guy said exactly. That yueyang still fired those torps at me. I closed my eyes and believed that they would pass through and they did. But frankly for the average player there is way too much stuff going on to identify all the situations where you can push and all the situations where it is suicide and the general attitude will not be - well lets try out, but to react. In a gaming population only about less than 10% are willing to actually put effort into improving. As a DD player you would need to know all the gimmicks of the other DDs, their concealment ranges, the type of DD they are, what stuff they bring (e.g. black & radar, who has hydro, what cruiser has radar and in the same sense a BB needs to know a lot of stuff too before he can safely go in. So they might have thrown the idea of pushing out of the window, because they got 2-3 quick defeats and they aren't playing to be blown up immediately. They want to participate long and safely. So TL;DR BBs hang back, because the learning attitude of society is completely backwards. People don't know how to improve, they don't have the will to improve a lot more than the opposite. -
I started playing wows for the carriers. Right now... It is just too annoying. What is the point of being able to do 4 attack runs, when you literally have to pre-drop and make a single one. Or before I go on - almost every thing leaves the taste of stupidity. I approach a strong AA ship? I fly S-curves to avoid magic balls in the air. 95% of the gameplay is flying to the targets. The fighters are a joke (I agree that the old version of fighters made too much of a difference if there was a skill difference, but the current ones might aswell not exist in terms of anti fighter capacity) Ships that have their own little fighter - most of the time I can make an attack run and they don't protect it anyhow. When you make an attack run the damaged ones remain in the friggin squad when they should be the ones making the drop. And while this might be a "still need to adapt issue" I have trouble getting dots to stick on my targets. The flooding chance is just so low on the midway and even if you get it the dmg is miniscule these days. Overall not a huge fan
-
I am happy that I don't have to do the fighter minigame anymore. While it felt good to deplane the enemy it was rather boring. It might just be a bit too much on the receiving end since if I truly want to I can pretty much claim any ship in any situation.

buff midways flooding chance and torp damage
Pappus replied to Mr_Snoww's topic in General Discussion
I just want to point out that if as a midway you can't be close to your target it will be difficult to make damage stick on BBs. You aren't always getting those perfect double/triple perma fires and most of the damage you deal is healable. While the first hits will be huge, saturation will kick in - if not for you then for your mates. If the damage shown was actually damage that stuck and wasn't heal it would be a notch lower. Personally I just dislike having basically a useless torp squad that eats 1/3 of your armament - I would prefer to not even bring them at this point since they are only ever going up if I recently took big plane hits on rocket/bomb.
