I thought the radar would be a gimmick and limited at most. Yeah. Lets not put it on the RN BB's. It's a bit too useful later on in game.

You buggers. I now have Missouri berthed in my port. Didn't notice the 35/1 weekend conversion.

Is it just me or is World Of Warships going down the same path that World Of Tanks went?
MeTaLMooSe replied to Crazeelazy's topic in Off-Topic
How many arcade p2w players appreciate the history and representation of a premium ship? It shows how out of touch WG are becoming with the Hood debacle. That should have been a guaranteed hit amongst the 'niche' fans of the games but WG got greedy with their predictions.- 11 replies

Yes. You take a gaming theme that interests a niche market. You develop and expand it. A wider audience of gamers partake. The game gets dumbed down and arcaded up. You loose the original gamers due to burn out or 'development'. You make it more arcade to suit an even wider audience. Profit. Not give a crap about why you made a niche game for a niche market in the first place. Chase your tail like a mad dog trying to balance the previous counter balance ad infinitum........- 11 replies

Considering you are playing with a team you have never met and are expected to shepherd a flotilla of civilian boats it's really not as hard as it should be. I'm sure for a division it would be a walk in the park. I haven't got five stars yet and my screenie above suggests it's not through like of trying. Acceptance of random team play prevents multiple smashed laptops!

9.9km/25 sec Radar and 10.8km detection radius with CE. Not bad but Pensa still turns better which I think gives her just enough of an edge to survive better. Although Indy does have better range so all things being equal she's not a bad ship now. I still wouldn't go steaming in to hunt DD's though. Radar is best for when the teams are thinned and a DD or RN CL smoke up.

We got one star from this operation. ONE puny star ....... *sobs* That 5th star is eluding me. I think skool holidayz is RNG'ing me

How is your Dunkirk Collection going on?
MeTaLMooSe replied to Sams_Baneblade's topic in General Discussion
Achieved today. Not sure about everyone else but I found these collectables a little cheesy compared to the HFB campaign. -
Should I buy Gallant to help with Dunkirk?
MeTaLMooSe replied to WestyII's topic in General Discussion
She's a nice little ship. I needed some retail stress therapy and wanted to finish off the Dunkirk collection and get Jack. I wasn't expecting much. I'm not a DD main and blow hot or cold in my abilities with them. She's the product of IJN and USN interbreeding and I seem to do better straight off the mark with her. Nice stealth and the agility to stay in stealth. Torps and guns are straight down the middle between the two. So I end up being more cautious, only fire when I can kill or do so from safety and hold my torps until I'm sure of their effectiveness. I've ended up capping or running and reaching the end game more successfully it feels because you need to play a bit more conservatively. Damage isn't high but I think I'm playing her more for the team. (doesn't help in school holidays but hey ho). Just like De Grasse, Duca and Hood she's not at all OP but certainly has some charm. This is exactly how a premium should be. It's a buy from me! -
Where will go your Dunkirk captain?
MeTaLMooSe replied to Sams_Baneblade's topic in General Discussion
He's gone into Gallant. Already have two 10+pointers for the battleships and a Fiji + Belfast + Leander specialized captains -
Hood's dispersion is workable. Those cheap, shelf life expired shells are the worst. Great on cruisers but can be frustrating on battleships. You have to keep hammering away chipping down BB hp rather than expect those beautiful citadel damage returns.
-
I love mine. It's my highest damage dealer. It's also got a terrible win rate and WTR. This leads me suspect that whilst it can throw out the hurt I can't fulfill it's role as a cruiser in it. Although how one does so in T10 I don't know. Whether offensive or kiting those guns just pump out accurate damage. T8 BB's don't stand a chance and can be solo'd. If a squadron go near they vapourize. I love mine but need to learn how to make her carry more.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
MeTaLMooSe replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
2nd game in V25. Oh how my club dripped with baby seal blood, fat and fur! -
10 points = PM. You need to keep those turrets in action. EM or AR. Turret traverse isn't bad but faster is always nicer. Or AR if you like the faster RoF. Both solid choices. SI. Forget DE or Vigilance for now. Those heals are the difference at the end game. CE. Dunkerque has terrible concealment values. This makes it bearable. After 10 points a mix of AFT and surviveability skills are desirable. IFHE is worthless on rifles this diameter. DE? surely for 3 points there are better skills like vigilance or BoS.

It would seem WG have got themselves in quite a pickle and are either trying various gimmicks to 'balance' RN BB's or are actually listening to us and going designing a good old fashioned battleship line with no bells and whistles. We don't want radar or [edited] just good ships.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

4 stars in Operation Dunkirk . I don't mind underachieving as I really wanted the French captain. GJ WG. Completed the Dunkerque mission for the sweet camo. Worked out really well as I popped in the Cyclone 19 pointer whilst on cool down to complete, got the camo then promptly got the 4 stars and cappy. I was so happy I took my new Yamato out, thinking I was riding the wave of fortune only to be abandoned and targeted by every torpedo/HE spammer on the server............. I like these combat missions that require certain ships. Dragging out port queens is good fun although I can't say I like Dunkerque any more. It's just a cooler dressed port queen now! -
That would be awesome having Farragut in this operation.
-
Finally got 4 stars (bearing in mind no div's just random team). Thoroughly enjoyable with a good team mixed of Anthony's and Cyclone's. Personally I like the Cyclone most. Better constant AA and I prefer the gun ballistics and damage. It seems folk are getting the hang of where the enemy attack now and lay smoke and sally out to meet the enemy. Got my 10 point cappy for Dunk which is what I wanted (my previous captain had been promoted to Algerie).

add kamikaze planes to japans aircraft carriers
MeTaLMooSe replied to bombmaster587's topic in General Discussion
So ramming your ship which historically had hundreds of crew is OK compared to ramming your plane which has one? Although they don't in game do they...... Both carried out yet strangely kamikaze is taboo? -
Only 3 so far. Not sure which ship I like most. The good thing about the captains is you can transfer them to other premiums whilst the ship is on cool down.

What obvious reasons? -
The Fritz X Guided Anti-Ship Glide Bomb. this would be a good anti camper weapon
MeTaLMooSe replied to sjff's topic in General Discussion
How about your captain is charged with cowardice and LMF. Put in the brig and the 1st officer takes over. All captain skills lost for the battle and the next involving the same captain. The more often he repeatedly offends the longer his sentence and you loose your cap for x amount of battles. Wouldn't take too long for campers to have no decently skilled captains in port. They'd all be in the brig! There ya go solved the camping issue! -
Like most cruisers you have to survive to the the end game to really make an impact. Your initial mission is to kite and burn (of which Yorke excells) and provide either AA support or hydro support to your fleet. It's entirely team dependant at this stage and the endgame is either you running or hunting. Low HP BB's become food for firebombs and the decreased amount of ships mean more stealth and ambush abilities. Here your short range AP can utterly devastate and the amount of fish you can drop can outright sink a large ship. You have to mitigate the turret traverse with good awareness and also whether to load AP/HE. She has the tools for this type of cruiser game without relying on smoke tricks like the RN. I've had some truly amazing games played in this vein but also suffered the cruiser deletion if I got to cocky or your team fails. It really depends upon if you like the main battery ballistics and the dynamic of the reload and turret traverse. Close in that's a liability. At range it works perfectly for fire/evade/reload/ reaim. It's great to have some variation in a line. I think Yorke provides an excellent and characterful alternative.

So not being a software wizard I was pondering over how do Wargaming set a price on a premium ship. Is it purely from what the players will pay? So after a brief google I found this short video. I had no idea it was this involved. 1120 man hours or 140 days! Break that into a salary and now I have an understanding. Maybe this is why I quite enjoy just studying the ships in port view. But WG PLEASE give us more zoom to appreciate your work. If anyone here has more of an understanding on how the ships are researched and designed and what sort of software is used, scale etc etc I'd love to know more.

Reflecting the last few posts many would agree to have purchased her for her 'looks' and maybe history. We menfolk are so weak when it comes to a shapely lady! I think a slight RoF buff would not go amiss.
