Lately, with all of the new premium/silver ships released and announced, people tend to call them overpowered. But what is the actual definition of an OP ship in the context of World Of Warships? Is it the amount of gimmicks it has? Game design, matchmaking, exclusivity or something else? I am sure there will be a lot of different opinions and thoughts on the definition so I ask you all to present your opinion. Would be nice if you can exclude CVs since there are already many topics on them. Personally, when it comes to most classes and ships(excluding CVs) I think the game has a relatively small amount of ships that are considered OP and that the game is fairly balanced.

Do you get Penalised for Crashing out of a Match?
KielYourself replied to Googie_RN_Rtd's topic in General Discussion
You are penalised im sure, I had my gpu die on me and when I logged back i had to play 2-3 matches before the pink status was lifted. As for the other part of your question I honestly dont know how that is possible. Most likely it doesn't penalize after more than a certain amount of time spent in a match. -
If heard and read quite a few theories on why SAP is getting introduced: Italian ships, IFHE replacement, Gold ammo and so on. All of them seem plausible but I wouldnt judge too early, it just started being tested. Mass histeria always comes with these kind of announcements, especially when they are vague as this.

Because historically, italians used this type of shell on their guns, battleships and cruisers if im not mistaken.

Some sources say its coming with the 8.5 patch. No details just yet.

Mogami? That thing has a ton of he dpm on its 155s. Is it a good choice over a kutuzov? Plenty of ships to choose from. All in all, the t8 cw season sounds pretty fun just like the old days of t8 tournaments.

Personally, do not have it but playing against it is almost no problem. I dont even recall playing against one in random battles. Many m8s that i know really like the ship and prefer it over most bbs cuz its fast and mobile but it is missing that caliber. The only thing hate about it is the thing i hate on all french ships, black hole armor that gives you pens for no damage. My verdict, not op.
-
Numbers make a ship op? Is that what you meant? To an extent that is true but statistics are like a bikini they reveal a lot but not the most important parts. Jokes aside, there are many ships, especially low tier that deviate heavily from the norm when it comes to statistics. Marking them op or just unfit for the tier id say.
-
That is also what my question intends to ask. Like said be4 univums can make almost any ship op.

When i play stalin i usually get 1.5million potential and use up all of my heals, that thing just eats he damage. I can do much more potential damage with far less armored an less hp cruisers just by dodging. And it has great ap but its he is unusuable imo. While it can mount radar and def aa, its counter part moskva can mount hydro instead of def aa which is really helpful in competitive gamemodes without cvs. Id say it is an okay ship. Dont crucify me pls. /s I think the problem with stalin is that its classified as a cruiser when it isnt, like many other "mislabeled" cruisers like graf spee, alaska, krohn etc. It would be much better if WG can make a new class like battlecruisers and label them properly but that is another topic.
-
Define unfair. Some ships have lets say have radar and others dont but there are certainly strong ships without radar.
-
That is up to the players not the ships themselves. A unicum can make a bad ship op and a potato can make an op ship bad. I think its just not that simple.

Just had a game where a lexington took away half of my health in the first 2 mintues of the game. And finished me off in 5 minutes. In those 5 minutes of my miserable life i got a whopping amount of 2 plane kills. Dear Wargaming, is this how you intended the CV balance to work? Here, have a replay even and tell that I should just dodge and blob up with my teammates and cry when a CV drops me thru 3 ships worth of AA and that this is not normal gameplay. 20190611_192912_PASC006-Atlanta-1942_37_Ridge.wowsreplay If any1 has any idea how this is supposed to be counterplayed, let me know please. This is unnaceptable. Kind regards, and I hope that all of you that asked for the CV rework go and step on some LEGOs.

I think you answered your own question. Doubloons are almost worthless now and have been for some time then again like you said you can just grind anything you need if you have the time. Dubs will only speed up the process. As a free to play player myself I found myself not needing the dubs for anything honestly. I have 6k dubs now just sitting there from various rewards and events. Nothing to spend on unfortunately.

Gamemode Proposal: Nation vs Nation Team Battles
KielYourself replied to Captn_Crap's topic in General Discussion
While I do like the idea of a Nations vs Nations battle, it really needs more profound thought, design and implementation testing. Think that is why they made PvE operations. Imagine a IJN vs USN where only USN have radar and IJN dont, which might sway the battle to much in USNs favor. -
Is this how CVs are intended to be "balanced"?
KielYourself replied to KielYourself's topic in General Discussion
Why doesnt it work? A t8 can get into a match with t10 and vice versa. And obviously they are not gonna be balanced when a 1v1 situation happens. Most CVs really shine(too much if you ask me)when they play as top tier. -

When you ask for help and advice it would be great when that advice would actually work. I replied to that comment and refuted most of his points based on prior experience not that I gave up immidetly rather after the first strike. AA simply doesnt work and it should on an AA ship one would think it does. I know its hefty to read everything posted here but many people counter argued ColonelPete and provided great points. My conclusion from this is that most of the times my Atlanta will struggle to shoot down even a few planes against a single t8 CV. Defeatist attitude is not the issue here, I had an unfun time and I simply snapped, everyone has those days. I wouldnt have such a high WR if I give up on every game I face sth that I dont like. I do not enjoy the new CVs but ppl tend to associate that with defeatist attitude when they see ppl quit playing. Hakuryu can do 25k per drop(and it has like 5+) while that is not one shot it is 50% of a t10 cruisers health(imagine a t8 cruiser which has less), 1 more and poof its gone. Enterprise can do even more citadels even on higher tier ships. -

Did you forget Enterprise? I saw him get 5 citadels on a DM in a reddit post. -

They can cap, its just not easy to do so. Lowest alpha but higher average dmg on most tiers. Except AP bombs which still can 1 shot some ships and heavily cripple others. High tier CVs have armored decks which cannot be penned by HE and AP from medium and long range, also to add they dont have regular fires and floods. -

Did you watch the replay? I am the AA cruiser, Atlanta. -

Remember when they used to ban cv players that would agree on free farming during rts days? The so called "agreement". Now it is litteraly how cvs work. Ironic. -

The anti cv folk be4 were the ones that never touched rts cvs be4, were really bad at rts or unicums knowing how OP they are in the right hands.(me included) The thing is AA worked somewhat back then. If you didnt want to get dropped you would get an aa ship and specc it like that. Lastly, the players werent so torn on the cv topics because there were a rare encounter, patch be4 rework counted around 500 cv players and now? Way too many... WG has a plan? Since when? /s -
Is this how CVs are intended to be "balanced"?
KielYourself replied to KielYourself's topic in General Discussion
I see that this post generated a lot of discussion. Both pro and anti cv, and it made me realize that not only did the rework influence(positively/badly) on the gameplay it also separated the playerbase to somewhat two extremes. If that doesn't indicate that the rework failed to do what is set out to accomplish, i dont know what does. -

KielYourself replied to KielYourself's topic in General Discussion
Imagine speccing fully into AA and then not getting a CV in your game or cv doesnt even come close to you. You will have a tougher time dealing with other ships since you do not have those skills that help you against them. It is not impossible to do good even with aa specc but it does hinder you in most situations. -

I feel your pain. Don't worry, the CV apologists will come here and tell you to L2P. Just dodge. /s
