Hey everyone, In the past weeks/months since I have been in the BOBS community I have had great fun with it all, it's very chill, no pressure, all you need to do is have fun when you are there, and make sure you don't spoil the fun of others. Almost every time I played on ships since I entered there was something fun to do, either doing divisions in random battles or we teamed up for some opperations (2-3 ship divisions or a full 7-ship one), or just the random chatting on the TS server. If someone asked me to join a clan/community, this one I would 10/10 recommend. See you all in game. Daminica -

I laughed a little with the little snowmen as crew. I also loved looking at the stats, they are exactly as I would expect them to be for a submarine, almost not detectable (except by air), armor as if it's paper and bloody slow (slower then the Langley even), basicly, worthless in a naval battle. And screw it, I'm sending the commander to the reserve.

As many stated above: Submarines do not fit into fleet actions, not in WWI and WWII settings (diesel subs are just too slow compared to modern day nuclear reactor subs) From a historical viewpoint, few submarines attacked fleets head-on as lone wolfs, they attacked convoys and their escorts and did so in large packs. The highdays of submarines in WWII for example was the german operation Paukenschlag and operation Neuland, these where operations of German U-Boats operating as lone wolfs at the american east coast attacking lone merchant ships. The biggest reason of succes of this was: No american warships to defend the coast (they where all used for convoys) Limited aircraft available to search and destroy submarines. No blackout, cities where brightly lit, ships had all lights on. Ingame to make it realistic the following would be how they would work, it is close as said by the original poster. 3 modes: 1.Surface mode: -very slow compared to other ships (top speeds of subs on surface where slow compared to other ships, it would make the Tier 4 carrier Langley ashamed (tier IV subs would be WWI) ==> this alone is enough reason on why not -relative good surface detection rating -able to use guns and torps (+ extra ability, not in game yet, lay mine) (Torp launchers have limited turn, single shot possible) -can see things like another normal ship can 2.Periscope Submerged mode: -slower then surfaced mode, walking or swimming would be faster -can only view things as if using a periscope (map mode can still be used to see other ships) -gun unusable -limited time allowed under water (uses charges that can recharge in surface mode only) -can get hit by all ammunitions, all direct hits would cause floodings, floodings do double damage from normal when submerged -repairs cooldown can not be used submerged. -HE, dive bombers and depth charges dropped close would also cause damage (direct hit not required) -can be detected from very close by ships, aircraft have a better detection range -Hydrophonic cooldowns can detect submarine 3. Hide on the bottom mode -Doesn't move -Can't turn -Can only use map view -same weapon -same damage as periscope -not detectable Overall, if you are a sub commander, the pace is so fast that the fighting is over before you even are there, and even then, you are pretty much screwed and submarine would be extremely high skill caps.
