WoWS mods. Should they be allowed?

Thanks! One crucial remark on this, anr96: we are discussing mods in general, not just the aiming/lead mod. We are afraid of where this will take us in the long run. (think warpack etc)

I would but I don't have access to that part of the forum, I'm guessing it's in the CBT section. If it's not breaking any rules, what's the gist of it?

Would you be so kind as to give me an idea of the contents of said post? Your reaction isn't quite motivating.

It's become that bad? If it really has, don't worry, this is well beyond anything I would think wargaming intended and will be dealt with. This is bypassing the core game mechanic.

WoWS mods. Should they be allowed?

I've been spending quite some time thinking about this and come to the conclusion that the only clean way to go about this is simply saying no to all mods. Even a simple thing as enhancing zoom or simply giving more accurate reload timers, or let's say, giving information on shell/torpedo travel time, are already unbalancing the game if not everybody is using it. Which, on the one hand, is the responsibility of the users themselves, on the other hand, it will no doubt taint the relations between players and cause tensions, which are best avoided. The question eventually boils down to this: what's more important to you? Being able to put in small cosmetic mods, like skins and UI customization, or absolute "fair play" for everyone to minimize toxicity?

WoWS mods. Should they be allowed?

Being informed is your own responsibility, it is a choice you make to not visit forums or not mod your games. Ignorance is not an excuse, nor is it a reason to deny others what you don't know exists. I was afraid for an answer like this, concerning mods like Warpack. There is a line that needs to be drawn, and Warpack is well beyond said line. That is so completely beyond how the game was, as I understand it, intended to be played that you may as well stop claim to be playing the same game. You are taking snippets of my words, without regard for the further context. I hope you understand my point, if you do not, I will gladly further elaborate!

WoWS mods. Should they be allowed?

You are right, it's not, but I already stated my point of view in the opening of my post. This was simply me(perhaps vaguely) stating that if they go with a "no mods" approach, it would be fantastic if we had a UI which is so polished I won't feel like I'm missing something. The WoT vanilla UI, for example, is somewhat cringeworthy.

WoWS mods. Should they be allowed?

To directly answer the question stated by the OP: I'd rather have a vanilla game for the simple fact that it will remove any and all possibility of people using actual cheats, though the amount of players who do that will always be extremely low. The more skill based a game is, the more I personally would enjoy it. Any and all advantages you have over your opponent should be based on experience and skill only(referring to lead indicator mods and the like). That said, it comes down to personal opinion but I don't understand all the hate XVM is getting in this thread. I'm a decent WoT player myself and play with other good players, unicums included. I, and them, never complain about XVM ruining the game for us, nor do I/we get focused down all the time by the enemy team. In fact, and this is not meant offensively, just stating a plain fact: most complaints I hear about XVM come from exactly the opposite type of players than has been stated here over and over again, which leads me to believe a lot of the resentment towards XVM is based upon calling out your own team based on their stats, which is just bad conduct. Furthermore, it is said this gives people an unfair advantage... how? It's common knowledge and available to everyone. If you play competitively, you should use all tools available to you, and probably will. If you on the other hand don't play competitively, and decide not to use it, it's your own choice. You are as much putting yourself at a disadvantage as others are putting themselves at an advantage over you. To use the analogy made earlier, with real life soldiers being able to put on glasses to see the skill/rank of the enemy soldiers: if these glasses are available to everyone, and you know the enemy team is using it, yet you decide not to use it, who is really to blame for your disadvantage? Now to make things clear, I'm not saying I necessarily want XVM in the game, or any other mods for that matter, I simply implore everyone to use some common sense when talking about mods and whether or not they are cheats. (let's not even go into the fact something can not be a cheat if it's officially allowed) The ultimate goal is for Wargaming to make the game so good, HUD etc included, that people won't feel the need to make mods, other than purely cosmetic ones. If they manage to do that, I will gladly say not to any and all mods.
  9. And gameplay is one of the things being tested, so this is a valid concern, in my opinion.
  10. I'm torn between Tyranids, Zerg or Aliens(from Alien), all 3 of them would make me realise weare utterly, completely screwed, with the only viable course of action being to detonate the ammuniation storages. It's the kind of thing you really enjoy seeing in movies, but if any of those 3 races would be real, things would get real nasty real fast.
  11. Well, I would say that's what divisions are for. And, as Foche said, clan wars/team battles/strongholds(or whatever the equivalent will be) is where you will find teamplay. You have to properly let sink in that you are playing with random people who have no real reason to think of anybody but themselves, in this context. The only way you could possible see teamwork becoming a thing in random battles is if a ranked matchmaking is introduced, which is highly unlikely(and will find better players fighting 4v4 games). I am curious though, pointing out something isn't working is one thing, but what would you suggest to make it more interesting for players to work as a team?

Aren't battleships kinda underpowered right now?

I can only speak from watching others play(a lot..) on twitch but I think I have to agree with BB's being one of the most dangerous ships in the game in the right hands. An unexperienced player will get shredded by cruisers and destroyers, even carriers, becuse BB's are difficult things to handle due to size, speed and long reloads. At the same time, I see experienced players absolutely shred the opposing team with well placed shots. Destroyers are lethal, if you can get close enough to someone/you can catch someone by surprise. Cruisers are.. well lethal in general I'd say but they don't like getting shot back at, flanking/small engagements is where they excell. Now BB's, those things are lethal, period.

What we know about Ships: Updated 05/04/2017

Awesome tech tree, gave me a lot of reading to do while waiting for OBT. ^^ I was quite surprised to see the French had such ships available to them during WWII. I couldn't find the T10 Russian Cruiser anywhere though, the MLK 130? Or the British L3/N3?
