Erm, yeah I forgot about that skill. Will train it up as my next skill, thanks! :-)

I have the Yubari and I actually like it a lot. It's fast, agile, the guns feel very accurate (all 4 hitting a target at max range is not uncommon) with a nice, long range and I think that the defensive AA fire ability is adequate for its tier - certainly as a tier 4 cruiser with limited MM where you see a lot of new CV players who don't even know what defensive AA fire is, let alone that the Yubari (which is very rare) has it, it can chew entire squadrons to pieces whilst also panicking them. Yeah, nice ship, I like it a lot. But...the engine damage. Oh my. I noticed it was happening more than I thought it should so I bought and fitted one of these: And this is what followed: That's 32 engine incapacitations in just 16 battles even with the -20% chance to incapacitation! On average, my engine will be knocked out twice per battle. In five battles it was knocked out 3 or more times. I know I play it too aggressively, getting in too close, then turning to run with my back end exposed (so to speak!) but this many engine incapacitations? It just feels overly excessive. Even in my DDs I don't experience this rate of engine incapacitations. Wargaming, can you take a look at this please? Maybe without the propulsion modification upgrade that would be ok, but with it? Just a small buff to the robustness of the engine...please.

[SUGGESTION] Expanded Radio Commands
krazypenguin replied to krazypenguin's topic in General Discussion
Indeed, but like I said: Yes, I know that trying to communicate to many players is a hopeless task (they may have chat off, may not be able to read, or may just not care) but that doesn't mean it's not worth trying. ;-)- 13 replies

[SUGGESTION] Expanded Radio Commands
krazypenguin replied to krazypenguin's topic in General Discussion
But if I am in a DD and sailing towards a cap where I suspect an enemy DD will be located, how do I ask my team mates specifically for cruiser support? Right now all I can do is generically "request support". Much better to be able to tell everyone in the team, in their own language, that I specifically want a cruiser to support me. Or if I am sailing a BB with enemy TBs inbound, it's much better to be able to directly ask for air (or anti-air) support.- 13 replies

[SUGGESTION] Expanded Radio Commands
krazypenguin replied to krazypenguin's topic in General Discussion
Good idea - for example, you could have: F2 - F1 - Requesting a smokescreen F2 - F2 - I am laying a smokescreen This would allow allied DDs to cover each other with smoke, rather than both putting down their own smoke at the same time, or, like you suggest, an allied ship could request for smoke from a nearby DD.- 13 replies

This ^ /thread Ok, an edit to be a little more constructive. In addition to Xevious' post above which is 100% correct, you have to remember that WG EU have a stated policy of not discussing disciplinary action based on the reporting system. OP, you are flogging a dead horse, sorry.

*** Placeholder for post being edited *** Bad Sorry to say it, but still no Royal Navy. The first 4 nations in the game should be (in no particular order) Germany, Japan, USA and Britain. Then Italy, then probably France and then Russia. Just like in WoT, where the Tiger and the T-34 are the most popular tanks for new players because they are the most famous, people in ships want to play the most famous warships. Ah yes, those famous Russian ships like the erm...er... heck, I don't even know what the correct prefix for a WWI \ WW2 era Russian ship is. The weird discontinuity between WG titles from the same family. I get that WoWS has a different dev team to WoT but it's just bizarre that features that work which the player base like and want are in one game and not in the other. (This works both ways) Examples (fixed now) are the mini-map not showing information in WoWS long after WoT fixed it, whilst in WoWS we've always had a carousel type option which WoT didn't have for AGES, even after modders released it. Stupid that the 2 games are not "in sync" on many simple things, especially things that modders have made for years. Poor balance at low tiers. Tier 2-3 BBs have virtually no chance against DDs because of insanely stupid dispersion. Yes I know that you shouldn't go alone, or let an enemy DD get close to you, but it happens sometimes and when it does there's pretty much nothing you can do about it, unlike at tiers 5 and up where you at least have a chance of "shotgunning" an incoming DD. CV play. No tutorial mode to help players. Many experienced CV players, tired of the AA buffs at high tiers, come to back tiers 4 & 5 and simply club the heck out of new players who don't have the skill, ship modules\upgrades, or captain skills to compete. Premium ship balance is generally off. Kami R can take a 15 point captain and be stupidly OP in tier 5, whilst the Yubari's engine explodes as soon as you press W. Or S. Or neither. Generally, premiums are either too strong, or far too weak (Mikasa and Katori say hello). We need expanded radio commands (e.g I need air cover or enemy DD has spotted me) to make it easier and quicker to communicate. That said, I do NOT want a repetition of WoT's "Help, I am spotted in A6" every 30 seconds. So no automated chat commands please! Good No XVM. Please, please, please make sure that we NEVER EVER get this. Ship models are beautiful. The game is a lot of fun. The smaller nature of the player base means that there's considerably less toxicity than in WoT (for example) both in game and here on the forums, and more team play. Slightly smaller team sizes probably help this too (less people means more cooperation).

These main battery hits mission requirements really frustrate me because I only play Japanese ships and none of them (well not at the tiers you need to play) really have the RoF for so many hits... I'm seriously considering abandoning my "only play Japanese ships" plan and buying the Atlanta, especially since it's on discount now...must. resist. That said, I did manage a game in my Myoko today where I got 93 main battery hits, just a shame I was still working towards the stage 1 goal at the time (1 million damage). Not sure how useful torpedo or bomb hits would be to the targets - how many torpedo hits do you get a game?

They do. Bottom right corner of the page - "Community Forum Software by IP.Board" Same company that used to do the DayZ forums. But I totally agree with your comments, there is so much scope for improvement. Good luck with your presentation.

Just tested it and it works for me, i.e. I waited for the battle to load itself and could see the chat history from before I joined. So I'm going with (b) ;-)

Not 100% sure what you mean exactly, but if you mean that there are not enough posts on a single page, so long threads get split over lots and lots of pages, try this: Go to your "My Settings" page and there is a white button near the top that says 'settings' - next to it is a grey button that says 'forum'. Click on the forum button and it takes you to a page where you can choose the number of threads on a page and also the number of posts in a thread. Hope this helps.

Not very helpful, but it made me laugh ;-)

I've seen a few enemy ships kill themselves but never found out how they managed it, until now. Mystery solved, thanks!

So, this is how Wargaming is playing with us
krazypenguin replied to RedStorm1's topic in General Discussion
Finally got the image to load. In some games I only shot down 1 plane since that was all that came near me. In others (both of the top 2 examples) I wiped out 9 aircraft - that's over 2 whole squadrons of Japanese aircraft. Generally speaking, what limited my ability to kill more aircraft was the lack of aircraft coming close enough to me. For example, in one game I escorted our top tier BB in a game with 2 CVs on each team, but the enemy carriers never came near us. That's one of the 1 kill examples by the way. You ask about impact, well maybe the enemy CVs didn't come near me because they knew what I could do (the 1 kill games), maybe they didn't know but once they found out by losing a squadron they attacked someone else (the 4 & 5 kill games), or maybe they didn't know and didn't learn (the 9 kill games). I think an average of 5 aircraft kills per battle at tier 4 is acceptable. As a Yubari driver of course I would love it to be able to kill EVERYTHING, but it's about balance. At the end of the day, I can and will shred any squadron that comes near me whilst also forcing them to become panicked. That's enough for me. To reiterate, I don't know if the Yubari was nerfed or not, I'm just making the point that, as a tier 4 AA cruiser, the Yubari is sufficient in my opinion. -

krazypenguin replied to RedStorm1's topic in General Discussion
In 8 battles I played today in my Yubari I shot down 39 aircraft. That's an average 4.875 aircraft shot down per battle. It would have been more, but I could only kill planes that came near me. I don't know if it has been nerfed or not, but I don't see anything wrong with this level of ability for a tier 4 ship - don't forget, as well as the kills, those aircraft which are not shot down are panicked, so much less accurate. (I made an image of the 8 post battle results screens showing all the kills but the forum isn't letting me link to photobucket at the moment for some reason.) -
I think the main problem for the British is the weight of 200-300 years of naval supremacy (barring the odd setback) which meant that pretty much anything short of a crushing victory was never going to be enough for the press and public. To give you an idea of the crushing weight of duty and tradition that RN admirals were under look no further than Craddock at the battle of Coronel. Hopelessly outclassed by the German forces, he nevertheless actively sought battle and he and many of his men and their ships were lost as a result - effectively forced into fighting an unwinnable battle by weight of history and expectation of the Admiralty and public. Not a very professional way to run a navy. Jellicoe meanwhile, correctly refuses to fight a battle (the evening/night phase) that will maximise his weaknesses whilst simultaneously maximising his enemy's strengths and, as such, also loses the opportunity for the crushing victory that is the only "acceptable" result for the masses. With a little better luck, without the excellent seamanship of the German fleet and definitely with some better communications between his forces, Jellicoe could well have achieved far more than he did. But to risk everything at night would have been the height of madness or supreme recklessness. When I think of Jellicoe's performance at Jutland I automatically compare it to Spruance - people always saying "what if?" and only looking at the best possible "what if" outcome, rather than thinking he played it safe and did the right thing. With regard to the flag...typical WG. Why not have one flag, half Grand Fleet, Half High Seas Fleet? Common sense is far from common...

Pensacola, Might as well be spotted from the start
krazypenguin replied to Bush_Wookiee's topic in General Discussion
I don't necessarily disagree with you, but this is why you must hoard your free XP - so you don't have to play stock ships. It's by design to encourage players to use money to buy doubloons to convert all that XP that their commanders are getting because of the absence of accelerated crew training or any other use for it. :/ But yeah, free XP for the win. -
To clarify for those kids you mention who do not know their history, Japan and Britain were allies before, during and after WWI. The cooling in relations between Japan and the West started in the early 1920s as their own colonial desires started to conflict with Western interests (in China mostly). See: Japanese Navy in WWI and the Anglo-Japanese alliance for more information.

Indeed! Bought her, updated signature, played 1 game. Got a 7 vs 7 domination game (not many people were on) and the battle was basically over by the time I could even get into the nearest cap circle. Just as I got there an enemy tier 2 destroyer popped up and would have sunk me were it not for a friendly destroyer eating his torps before they could hit me and then an allied cruiser sinking him. That left a tier 1 cruiser on the enemy team who I embarrassingly failed to ram and was then killed by our cruiser and that was that. As a gaming experience it had no value, merit or reward. As a Japanese ship collector I do not regret buying her but I will not play her much, if ever, again. Poor firepower overall (2 turrets each with 2 guns for a total of 4 guns), slow reload, terrible accuracy/dispersion (fired 4 shots at 3km and all missed) and the usual slow turret traverse all packaged on a slow hull that isn't very agile. I get the impression that enemy DDs will have no trouble whatsoever sailing into point blank range and torping you whilst you can do nothing about it (because like all low tier ships, the secondaries are mostly useless). Meanwhile, enemy cruisers will just HE spam you to death, even if your repair and damage control means it will take a bit longer than usual. If you want a Japanese premium BB get the Ishizuchi - for all its flaws it's still vastly superior to the Mikasa.

Just got mine :-) Only played 1 battle so far, but noticed 3 things straight away: She's so sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooow :-( The arcs on the torpedoes are AWESOME!! You can fire *almost* directly ahead or astern! Very nice :-) In that 1 battle I lost my engine or steering 4 times. Wowsers.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
krazypenguin replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
I just met JapLance on the enemy team - I was in my Fuso, he was in his Budyonny. I send an initial salvo his way which missed, then a second which scored 5 hits and an incapacitation after which he stayed at very long range. I'm afraid to say though, that I then focus fired him quite a lot, sending no less than 94 shells in his direction (that's 9 salvos!), out of a total of 260 fired throughout the whole battle. But he's very good at dodging shells and I couldn't hit him again. In the end our carrier swamped him in torpedoes and bombs. Was a very tight battle which I thought we were going to lose until very near the end. Shamelessly focus firing JapLance: gg sir! :-) -
According to MrConway, you shall receive your diamonds "later this week" Congrats :-)

I was asked to complete a questionnaire about WoWS recently and one of the sections was about the weather. This is pretty much what I put: Typhoons\Cyclones add an interesting random element to the game, but can result in long periods of boredom. The first time I saw one I died before it got started, I don't recall the second but I do remember the third. It was on a domination battle and the enemy held the left side of the map, we held the right, with both teams were closing on each other when it hit. And then nothing happened for the next 4 or so minutes because no one could see anything. Once it cleared the fight started again. On that occasion, it didn't add much of value and it was frustrating to know that enemy ships were close enough to attack...if only we could actually see them. I guess the idea is that you can use the poor visibility to relocate, but most ships are so slow that in reality it's not possible. That said, I do not want the duration increased. I voted for the storm to hit at any time in the battle, to last 4-5 minutes and when asked about how often they should happen I opted for "other" and said 1 in 25 battles. IMO, they should be kept quite rare, otherwise they will lose their special status and become common and therefore boring. However, I also said that I really like the weather effects overall, the way that ships at long range become difficult to see, almost just vague grey shapes is very good. Mainly. I'd really like to see improved lighting effects, I think there is a lot of scope there.
