The Atago is not a good Tier 8 cruiser? Really? Huh. I own the Atago (also own a Tirpitz) and I have no fear taking on any tier 8 or 9 ship in the game. It has the best torpedo layout of any cruiser, by far, it's HE does good damage and has a good fire chance and the AP will wreck anything you shoot at, provided you know how to aim properly. I don't yet have my tier 5 captain skill (I run with a dedicated Atago captain) and I already have a detection range of 10.4 Km, almost in torpedo range. When I get Concealment Expert that will drop to 9.2 Km. If I don't like the way a fight is going I just disengage, drop some torps, vanish and look for someone else to pick on. If you're having poor results playing your Atago then I'd suggest a change in tactics because played right the Atago is a beast of a ship. Check out voulezvousTV on Youtube for some excellent examples of how to play the Atago effectively. The Atago is, without doubt, the best tier 8 cruiser in the game. If you're looking for a contender for a WoWs Type 59 then you should be looking at the Atago, not the Tirpitz.

I'm having problems since the patch but not loading times. My game hangs a lot after a battle or if I sink and opt to exit to port, click yes and it just sits there. I have to alt tab out and close the game down. I removed mods and still had it. Deleted all files and did a clean install and I still get it. This has been happening since the server connection error we had last night (14th). If I'm lucky I can play 2-3 games before it happens. I have no idea what's causing it. I've made no changes to my PC, not updated any drivers etc so it's unlikely to be my PC that's causing it. Anyone else getting this?

Same for me, was playing after patch and today, the 14th, then it just started to happen 10 minutes ago. Tried deleting addons to make sure there are no conflicts there but still getting it. Nothing has changed on my PC since it was working, no driver updates etc. An hour ago it was working and now it's not.

I hate it, it drives me nuts. Aweful piece of music that loops constantly and grates on the nerves. Please WG, turn it the [edited]off! No more, I can't take it any more. Pleeeeeeeease, turn it off! The worst thing is if you turn music volume down then all music is gone and I don't mind the other stuff, pre/post battle or in battle music is fine, it's just that new port music. IT SUCKS! Give us the old one back, please.

I'm not a great player and I'm not a bad player, my WR is 53% but I completely agree that XVM has destroyed WoT and I really don't want to see the same thing happening in WoWS. Definately hiding my stats if that helps to screw up these mods. As for tchat, try a few compliments, create a friendly atmosphere. If some dirty DD takes you out, say "Nice torp" or something. Get citadelled? "Nice shot, Sir". You'd be amazed how it creates a more friendly chat. If your team gets stuffed 15-0 don't call everyone a noob, tell the other team "Well Played!" If we want a friendly tchat it's up to us to make it that way.

I think too many people put an emphasis on WR and other stats, and XVM creates this "elitist" attitude that some players have. It's a game and games are supposed to be fun. If you have fun playing but you lose more than you win, who cares? I certainly don't. I'm not the best player by any stretch of the imagination, nor am I the worst. I think my current WR is just under 50%. I've lost 53, drawn 4 and won 51 since the reset. Am I having fun playing? Yes, damn right I am. Do I care about my WR? Nope, couldn't give a crap about it. Worry less about your WR and start enjoying the game. If you do this you'll probably find you start playing a bit better anyway, because you no longer put yourself under pressure worrying about a stupid stat.

Some work in the Port would be nice. Some way to sort ships by nation/class/Premium/Tier etc, the way we can in WoT.
