    ^^ We need more captains like you o7 Still leaves the fact that enemy BB can still 'grief' cruisers by focusing them before they die ( throwing the match ) and that cruisers can't really do much about it. This might be different with the patch tomorrow, don't know how much high tier CA also having 'regen' ability helps them. Edit: that was NOT aimed at the poster above me but the one above that ( got ninja'd ) That is why you have CA/CL with you and DD's in front of you, so there are no invisible dd's and carrier wings....

Since we can enable replays and view them, I am hoping for more people with these matches to show us their replays as well ( more content then just looking on YT/Twitch, and from forumites which is always nice! ). Just not sure if there is a vulnerability in the current wows replays in the sense as that you can start external applications through a malformed wot replay?

    In WoT using terrain makes a lot of sense, you would be stupid not to, but that's a different game ( AND more importantly a different meta-game! ). I'm not even saying they should take the first salvo, in fact the cruisers should be sufficiently in front so they take the first salvo from enemy cruisers AND the enemy battleships which they should be able to dodge because the enemy battleships are then still at their maximum range. But my allied battleships should be close enough and move so they have los on the enemy battleships when they close the distance with me, or I'll be forced to break contact ( and formation ) since I can't sustain concentrated fire. They, the allied battleships, should ideally be so close that the enemy battleships are threatened enough to force them to focus on my allied battleships or be at a severe disadvantage when they fire at the cruisers while sustaining fire from my allied battleships. If the battleships are to far back, either they are playing to defensively trying to engage the closer enemy cruisers instead of letting their cruisers deal with them and closing in to engage the enemy battleships, or I in my cruiser am playing to aggressive. A lot of it boils down to communication and trusting your allies. Currently a lot of cruiser captains seem to run off to 'the cruiser side of the map' to engage enemy cruisers and let their battleships fend for themselves, and they do so because as they say the risk/reward of doing otherwise ( and fun, but that comes from being in a better risk/reward situation so I'm leaving it out for discussion's sake ) is not in their favor. So many battleships captains will not have faith in cruisers moving with them and giving them fleet support, hence encouraging them to play very defensively. This is a circle which should be corrected by WG by putting a higher emphasis on the roles ships perform in a battle, both by in game rewards and being even more informative towards players about those roles ( and their rewards! ). This is still in beta so I have hope it will be corrected, if not I'm afraid I will enjoy this game less then I would have with a good emphasis on team work Edit: While reading this back I realized there is bigger problem then trust. Even if your allied battleships are close enough and are killing the enemy battleships, if those enemy battleships do keep concentrating on the cruisers they will still kill them. Off course they will only have minimal damage done as cruisers are harder to hit and have a lot less health, but they will have killed an enemy and will probably feel good about themselves as they 'contributed' to the game. So for a cruisers playing as I would like them to play, there is always a risk an enemy BB will throw the game ( or put his team at a severe disadvantage ) by focusing you thus making sure you have a really bad game. In that regard, it's not enough to have good allies, it is also important to have good enemies. And having to rely on good enemies is something I don't think should be needed for the proper game play. So, either I am totally wrong with how I think this game should be played, namely as a team based game with a rock-paper- scissors element which encourages working together, or there is currently a big problem in how the classes are implemented. A bigger problem then I been able to recognize up till now..

    Replace 'loosing an argument' with 'getting hit' and 'racist' with 'aim-bot' and it's a pretty good reason why this thread is still alive and kicking. Hopefully it can die a silent death after tomorrow ( we'll see, I got some high hopes and I just hope I won't be disappointed! ).

    I was with you one battle I think on North, standard mode. You where in a Fuso I was in a Mogami or Myoko. We went left to 1-2 line, with me and a Pensacola in front. We sailed up a length at that 1-2 line engaging enemy dd's and 2 upcoming cruisers. You kept camping behind the island at the bottom right of the 2-3 line. Yes you could shoot one of those cruisers and maybe two, but you could not support us against the upcomming battle ships. So the Pensacola took a lot of damage because the enemy bb's focused him, I got some dmg as well but I already saw it coming and even urged the Pensacola to play defensively and turn in early to break contact due to not getting proper BB support. We still won, but don't tell me you played a good match as you showed a clear lack of understanding when to engage and what fleet operations mean. You showed you think you should sit still behind an island and shoot a a cruiser at max range ( which you normally can't even hit if he is paying attention as he has plenty of time to turn when your shells are in the air ). Something i don't agree with, you should move up with your cruisers even if that means exposing yourself to other ships. We, as cruisers can not sit where you where and protect you against destroyers or offer AA assistance. even more by kemping an island you make yourself an easy target for those enemy destroyers, and it was thanks to me and another friendly cruiser that you didn't get some surprise butsex from the Sims which tried to come from behind the island. Dear sir, please do not advocate 'tactical play' if you clearly demonstrated that you lack the ability to apply it to your own gameplay Disclaimer: opinons are like poopholes, everyone has one

    Depends on the tier, my Des Moines has no issues with 15km But yeah, bb's who think that cruisers should 'distract' the enemy bb's and get focused while they 'snipe' are a real problem. Cruisers which all run off to the other side of the map are just as much a problem though, and from reading the forums I'm getting the impression there are lots of people who just do not want to participate in fleet formations but just want to go to the other side so they can fight other cruisers alone. Sad, that so many people don't want to invest in the team play aspect but want a free for all ( and then also complain CA's need buffs so they can kill BB's easier because 'it's not fair otherwise' ).

    The patch will replace your modded paths.xml and even if it didn't the res_mods folder has a different patch number so it won't be used. I assume he means you shouldn't install it after the patch hit's as it won't work. It should not break the patch process, and the client should still work if you just lt it patch. I would recommend removing the res_mods folder manually though just to be sure ( but again you shouldn't have to ). @Aslain Could you please allow setting a custom folder location for your config and cache files, I don't want them on my ssd but on my hdd to save space and keep my root wows folder clean.

    Fixed your negrep, seems everyone assumes one can't be just a good shot, once you admit you don't need ranging shots all the time you're an automatic aimbot user I do exactly the same, the only times I find ranging shots really needed is at extreme ranges or/and when you have an opponent who is very good at shifting his speed throughout the engagement, people who stay at one speed should not be surprised if I don't need ranging shots on them. edit: Exactly, speed changes are at least as important as changing heading during an engagement.

    Technically, if you for instance are on a 'proper' ts server, I could get your IP and ddos your client instead of the server... Come one, give the alu cap's at least something to base their theories on. Especially if they then start using it as a justification of their alu cap theory's possibility without seeing the pitfall it contains

    Howcome, seen plenty of footage and fought plenty of battles with them in my or the enemy team. Never seen them 5 minutes into the game at almost full health but with 2 or 3 busted up turrets

    Yes, the system is very elaborate as well. You need to watch and record your replay right away, or keep all your older game installs by doing a fresh install in a different folder for each patch
