    Tajj7 that was well said. As caveat I would mention though that there are many games out there where not all classes are matches against any one other, and where support classes are highly valued. So 'for fun you need to feel that whatever class you choose if you play well you can compete' is not an universal truth. The proper way to say it imho would be 'for fun you need to feel that whatever class you choose if you play well you can influence the battle'. Competing ( for damage ) is not the role of a healer in WoW, and while declining I don't think anyone would say it's been much of an economic failure. So when you say; 'Once players feel all classes are more competitive with each other they will start taking out more than just BBs and you'll get more diverse and varied matches.' I would change that to: 'Once players feel all classes are as valuable when compared with any other they will start taking out more than just BBs and you'll get more diverse and varied matches.' This is only possible if MM will create some 'properly' matched teams where all classes have not only the core mechanic based necessity to be used in a role, but also are able to perform well in that role. Making BB's rely more on escorts against DD's and CV's is a perfectly viable option to do so.

I need some time to adjust from my previous one as I'm hitting less at the moment, but since the other one has only a horizontal line I am expecting to be better able to hit targets at steeper angle then before. Well, when I get the hang of it ;)

    Drivel was a bit strong, but it's really bad etiquette to respond to a thread without reading the opening post, it makes you look like you want to increase your post count without bothering to make sure it's even relevant. The comment of the Atlanta being the best premium ship is interesting though. Do you think it is the best now due to current HE mechanics or is it something else which makes it so good? edit: Murmanks is <3, it has no worse traits compared with the same tier Omaha off which she was derived! Having much fun in mine I must admit

    There should be a balance possible where every class alone is not considered weak, but where only when combining the different classes they are at their strongest. This is what I had hoped this game to be, and I still think there is a way to get this properly implemented. And even while what you say is true in random's atm, it's not the only way the game is played. I also seen team's which did work very coordinated, where chat was used throughout the battle and where people actually followed a common plan in a way where their combined strength far outweighed the sum of their strength while playing as in a free-for-all. Those matches where always won by the team which did this the most. And in a lot of those matches I seen people who's name I seen on these forums, and of those they are often the alpha/weekend testers which actively pursue this coordinated play. I assume they do because it wins games against teams which don't do the same, but in case they do it's still fun because every class can play a role in the outcome of the match. I know a decent game in my BB would on average give me 'easier' and more damage then a game in my DD, yet I'm still going to get the Gearing and then start the IJN line, because I like some variety. And cv's can also drop outside the radius and not loose planes and be more like an area denial weapon then a nuke ( don't look at my games played in cv's, it doesn't mean I can't be objective ). Ok, seriously then, this is one of the most valid ways to balance them and stay near realistic. Another would be lowering the spotting distances of battleships and making them more dependent on the spotting of cruisers and destroyers ( I purposely left out carriers again.. notice a pattern ). This would also require getting proper XP for assisted damage as well as very clear mechanism of knowing when you're 'doing it right'. Something like an in game damage counter which also is capable of showing assisted damage and/or adding a special icon on ships which are spotted by you so you will know any damage inflicted to them will be shared with you XP wise.

I don't play CV's, hence I got bigger problems concerning the current situation with the queue and battle loading times so in essence we are both selfish since both of us seemed to focus on things which applied the most to our self

    Exacty, it makes it harder to work together and that is the whole idea behind divisions. Well actually in WoWs there is no map with separate spawn points for specific classes and I pray that stays that way. So considering that atm all classes seem to spawn randomly, there is no downside to having a cruiser and two bb's in one division spawn at one location instead one near cap A together with some random ally, one near cap B with more random allies and one near cap C again with random allies. If they want to encourage teamwork, this is a basic step to archive that.

    I would say Sims is the easiest to have some fun in. Yubari is basically a big DD and should not be played a normal cruiser, Grey is hard to master since those gun's turn so slow. For a total newbie, the Sims would offer the easiest entry as he would be focused on guns ( which on USN DD's isn't that bad to start with ) and the Sims is pretty good with it's gun's ( understatement of the year btw ). Sure it is a steeper learning curve when you want to go from 'fun' to 'effective', steeper then the curve for playing the Yubari probably. But, I always tell people to get the Grey because I'm selfish, I don't want all those pay2beta in their brand new Sims in high tier matches Afraid to get torped and so on.. though with the current team damage system I'm probably in need of a change there. Still, Grey is really strong if you play her well, the longer range torps make her a true DD but you can also play her as a gun boat as the HE shells from those 130mm are really REALLY good atm. Even before HE buff, the Grey had deadly guns if you where able to keep them on target. In the end, I think all pre order ships have their right of existence, and it's really hard to point out one which is 'the best'. If asked which one I would consider the worst though, I would pick the Yubari.

    I do hope they will make playing classes which are not intended to be the main damage dealers more rewarding if played in their role, that is the main reason why I was so looking forward to the game. I'm not even a real tomato in WoT but even there I still try to threat it as a team game even when so many people keep telling me that is why I am not a better player. Give the cruiser which by using his ability to force a tb attack to drop wide by giving it some award which it can use while playing a battleship, that would be a nice way to emphasize the symbiotic nature of naval warfare and encourage people to think more about their intended role's and less about damage / epeen alone.

    They said they would look at it but it's really low on their priority list. I do notice that on the new map with two distinct spawns I'm almost always in the same group as my division members, maybe it's a prelude to something?

    I don't want the game you describe, where dmg is the factor where one measures his fun with. It would be 100% arcade, and have no bearing at all with actual naval warfare. A CL is not supposed to deal the same damage as a BB, it is supposed to support the BB dealing the damage, or supporting the CV dealing the damage, or both by spotting enemies while undetected ( CL - light cruiser - scout cruiser ). Sure, those who's epeen is based on damage would flock to battleships, but when WG put's hardcaps on classes per team it would even out since usually people don't want to wait that long before going into a battle. Btw, with positioning yourself so you're never the first target you're not playing the role of a CA correctly imo ( maybe you are within the current meta, but not in how I would like this game to turn out ).

    Pretty sure it's a balancing 'feature', take away flooding and you would need to increase direct damage from torpedoes / ramming. Btw plenty of cases known where internal watertight compartments failed to keep a ship afloat?

    Russians stronk I mean, I know from WoT there are superb players on RU but also many tomatoes so average are quite comparable. But those numbers I think are quite a bit higher then on EU server or am I just thinking that because I'm a baddie myself...

    I know, I assumed it is a 'special' arrangement and they don't pull it from the site using scrapping as I am certain WG forbids that. I would like to have the same for the other clusters though, not just for my own performance tracking but to make visible to everyone the actual averages for ships currently in the game ( as preferably the dataset should be able to create comparisons between patches as well ). I am quite sure this data would cause as much uproar as it would settle current 'observation based' opinions though but I would still like prefer that over having to guess ;) Can the Russian site do that btw? Or does it just track personal performance?

    Where you shooting belt armor or super structure? To get reliable fires you need to be shooting at different places then where you would get your high damage rolls with AP, just saying as I notice a lot of people aiming for my belt armor / citadel with HE which will almost never cause fires.

    I have a tiny bit better wr, but I get carried a lot. So not sure if it makes my opinion something to consider or not but I'll give it anyway ;) There isn't enough incentive atm for team work if you know what you're doing, but it still helps a lot. Focusing fire, the most basic of teamwork concepts, is a sure way to victory if the enemy team isn't doing the same. Having AA escorts in a heavy AA battleship which also can turn into planes in time is also not needed, but it still helps. I consider myself reasonably capable of looking at the map and turning into planes in time, but if there are two cv's working together there will be a wing of tb's which get to my side no matter how I turn and then having a cruiser with the AA ability can mean the difference between getting a narrow spread which will sink you or a wide spread where you only get hit by one or two. I know it's currently not always needed to be successful and I'm unsure if it can be done with the arcade setting WG is keen on, but I am still hoping for a tighter rock-paper-scissors concept being applied. Still, promoting teamwork is still a good thing imo, sure it means you will bump your nose a couple of times since it also means putting trust in your team, but it's also way more enjoyable when you do and it works compared with playing it 100% safe by attempting to use your allies as distraction/spotters while you inflict relatively 'safe' damage ( which is, when it comes down to it, what you call 'proper positioning' ). Also, when a DD pops smoke and I'm really really close I chase him into the smoke rather then trying to create more distance as doing the latter means I will surely give him time to reload his torps and get a salvo off. If I chase him I will both pressure him to stay out of autodetect and I lower his ability to hide between reloads. I also have a high chance of pressuring him out his smoke. Mostly I would do this when within 2 or 3 km and when I know the dd just shot his torps ( unless lower tier with their high reload speeds ). It all depends on your self contributed ability to dodge his torps if needed while applying pressure. @all: Concerning the 'hidden dd submerged torpedo' happening at to close distances, I have seen this myself and I don't think it's implausible to consider it a bug at this time.

  23. Considering how relatively few people we still have in queue at anytime other then prime time, I don't see how MM can be more picky. Even more, aren't the dev's purposely creating these matchups to gather statistical data on if it can be balanced ( more/fewer ships/classes )? That is my impression at least, also I think I read something which would confirm that but that might just be confirmation bias

    The big question is, atm WoWs stats are not accessible through the WG external api, and if/when this happens you can bet there will be some kind of statistics mod for WoWs. So it's really in the direct control of the developers. Don't add WoWs statistics to the external api is essentially blocking 3rd party stats sites as well as xvm like mods ( since afaik WG forbids and blocks those who try to crawl their html pages for the statistics ).

    Actually the only reaction from staff/dev to the status report thingy mentioning 'XVM is coming to WoWs' was a short and to the point outburst off: LOL. On the other hand, people might have been confused by BigBadVuk repeatedly saying in numerous threads that 'XVM is not listed as bad'. He also argued that WG has allowed XVM for WoT for a long time, and that there was no reason why they would not do so with WoWs. I also argued this, and even added that WG has explicitly stated their support for the XVM developers, but as I'm just another user on this forum I am quite aware that anything moderators say is somehow considered 'official' even if the moderator in question goes out of his way to indicate it's only his personal opinion and not some official guideline.
