A hypothetical conversation with a new player who came for "World of Battleships"
mtm78 replied to Figment's topic in General Discussion
Correct, my Sims and Mahan where a lot harder to get good games in as I mainly used them as gunboats and only used torps on distracted enemies or those nice enough to come sail past an island. Gremy on the other hand is still capable of shooting through it's own smoke undetected, far more then Sims. It has made Gremy even stronker imo in comparison. I got faith they won't leave it at the mess it's at right now -

I got this picture in my inbox, is it really you? -
I <3 the cat as well

I am taking accuracy modules but the low muzzle velocity is a drawback especially when switching ships all the time ( as you need a few games to really get the lead correct for those big first 'surprise' salvo's.

MOD [0.3.1] Crosshair "Green Lemon" + "Black Lines" + OTM *UPDATE* (15.05.2015)
mtm78 replied to XoX_Bowser_XoX's topic in Other
What, grills can't play games like us, that's kinda narrow minded I would recommend everyone to use a custom sight, and one with angular line's not just horizontal but like a spider web as it greatly enhances your hitratio because your brain can make quicker observations and calculations subconsciously when it has those lines as reference. Will take some getting used to but it pays off. -
Don't let BigBadVuk see you're slandering people using a legitimate mod ;) A cheat is something which the developers say to be a cheat, it is not based on your moral compass ( or mine for that matter ).

WoWp has nothing to do with WoWs, and no one really cares XVM wasn't brought to that game because it was a massive failure to start with. Totally unrelated, no need to bring it up. Avg dmg is still relevant, doesn't matter how many different classes we have in WoWs which have more or less intrinsic damage potential. The thing XVM for WoWs DOES need is a working 'assisted/spotting' damage available in the external api as otherwise DD players would suffer from lower ratings then they should have. Btw XVM for WoT does nothing with hitratio and the likes, or damage blocked, why are you spreading FUD? Or is it a sign you actually don't really know much about the topic?

DPS and health, though on most tiers IJN fighters can at least run away since they are faster... if you're taking fighters with IJN cv that is. Check my profile, I haven't tried any cv except two games in a Langley ;) But the current situation is pretty obvious and well known, if you want to know and haven't seen it yet look for iChase's video's on YouTube and check his latest one about carriers.

From what I hear you shouldn't be dogfighting USN fighters at all

Which brings to the table, how to increase incentive for 'good play'. Draws are already counted as double losses, so you can't give less then with a loss naturally anyway..

Rewards for Premium ships are not scaling properly
mtm78 replied to BdW_Marecc's topic in General Discussion
If it is 500% it would really surprise me as you would have far less grinding then in WoT? Not done the numbers but just gut feeling. It feels like 10x more then say 5x -
How do you know that? Good players, well with good I guess you mean players who win more, tend to do more things which make their team win. Which includes defending a weak flank if needed.

I've said pretty much the same, best advice tbh. Loosing money in a Sims in this inflated economy is rather shocking. edit: btw I had 2 games in my Sims today, I needed 4k xp to retrain my captain to the Benson.. -
You have a contradiction in this statement ( on which I btw agree! ). You say the target lock corrects elevation, yet you then mention that the shells will also track the selected target horizontally since you will miss an equal distance aimpoint. I noticed this as well and as I said back then in that thread I would very much like to know exactly how the game 'assists' in both elevation ( which seems natural as otherwise you can't shoot over islands ) and angle.

Let me say this again: if you're loosing money in a Sims you should not blame the economy. Edit: ow, and yeah sorry you are mostly referring to your torp spemmer right ( Kitakami ). That ship has been buffed ( with getting smoke ) for a reason.. I don't own it so I can't say much about that particular ship's credit income, but I still doubt any semi normal player is having income issues with it. -

That bullocks, I don't need to feel confident in myself that I can do without XVM by judging my statistics online. I use XVM to feel confident about you when I'm on your team, or 'less confident' if you would be a bad player.

Sorry but what a load off bullocks. 1. My attitude against 'casual' players? You mean my attitude against people who only played very low tiered and then complain about their tier 7 Sims credit earning ability? Then yeah, guilty as charged. As I said, you're not in a position to complain, frankly anyone who is complaining about the credit income during CBT is in for a nasty surprise when the dev's decide to stop boosting their income so they actually have to play decent to get good credits. 2. Snobbish? Nope, snobbish would be me telling you you're a terribad player. Which I never did nor am I not doing so now, you're only a special player who fails to make credits with a Sims. ps. Sims is tier 7 -
Historical and naval guidelines are exactly what we should be looking at and use to get a balance where this game is not free for all arcade shooter. I sank two Fuso's in my Cleveland in one match, doing 50k fire damage alone. Cruisers are insanely powerful atm considering the wacko jacko HE mechanics. Cruisers should be competative, well they are. WG should hardcap BB's per match to force people to not only want to play the 'big guns', instead of trying to create an 100% equal damage dealing ability like you advocate. Sure DD's can have monster games with 200k damage, but balancing it so joe average will do as much damage in his Mahan as someone in a Nagato would make a rather uninteresting game.

Guess you're primarily a BB / CA captain

planes going awol and late starting into battles
mtm78 replied to knaveofengland's topic in General Discussion
I guess the sarcasm was lost, thought the old Engrish would give it away ;) The current issue with queue and loading time's don't need optimization in the sense of being faster, the loading time an sich is actually as fast if not faster to get into a battle. The battle I'm getting into is almost always already started and I often go from queue - loading screen - battle without any countdown. So I consider it a visual interaction 'bug'. I would like to keep the fast battle entry times but I hope I will both get the countdown sound back as well the ability to use chat prior to a match I trust both issues will be resolved ;) -
I'm an idealist as well, but my ideal concerns having a better community without having to remove every possible object or utility which can be used in a non intended way. Like I said, there are quite a lot of people who been killed with kitchen knives / hammers and the likes, this surely does not mean we should prevent people from having them?

Imo, and I don't own one so it's based on limited observations and discussions with those who do, the Atlanta has some big flaws. First is the low range, and only moderate speed. You can't avoid CA's unless you're part of a group and the CA's are afraid to advance on you. If you get spotted beyond your own gun range, you're also not a happy camper. Remember it has many guns, but if HE is toned down you can't do much against CA's and BB's and neither can you always avoid them. The Sims is easy to play 'semi decent' since those gun's forgive mistakes in turning / positioning with their traverse and range. Skilled players will surely enjoy Gremy for it ability to carry at it's tier, but Sims is no slouch. I would say someone used to playing IJN DD's will likely find the Gremy a better fit and vice verse for those playing USN DD's primarily. I still think Gremy is stronger, but that is because of the differences in implementation of USN and IJN DD's. Using torps from outside of your detection range gives higher reward then using guns, even if the guns are superior. Well maybe statistics will proof me wrong but that's my gut feeling about it anyway
